Akamaru Udon Factory @ Domain

Restaurant" Akamaru Udon Factory

Dined here a while ago when DOMAIN just opened because there were no other shops open.

I had no expectations for this place because their other branch at MetroCity was dreadful.

The menu had not changed, it was just ramen and curries.

Ordered the seafood curry and the spicy ramen.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Seafood curry:

It was basically frozen seafood fare mixed in curry sauce and served on rice.
The curry sauce was quite nice, it was slightly sweet and tasted like the typical Japanese curries.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Kyushu spicy ramen in pork bone soup:

The soup was really salty and not spicy at all.
The ramen absorbed the soup well so the ramen tasted really nice.
It was not as tasteless as the branch in MetroCity.

Delicious mixed grain rice for tea

Restaurant: Chomega (Wan Chai)

Went here for an early dinner and ordered pork slices with ginger.

Nice clock

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pork slices with ginger:
The pork slices were extremely tender and the ginger sauce was really strong.
It tastes better than the pork and ginger at Ajisens!!
There were less onions this time and lots of sesame sprinkled on top.
As well as the delicious ginger sauce, there was a strong grilled taste and a few pieces of delicious sliced onions.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chocolate milk:
The chocolate drink also tasted nice too because it was not floury or milky.
It tasted like Nesquik's chocolate milkshake but there was more proportion of water to milk so it depends on whether you like milkshakes watery more milky.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Dessert:
The dessert today was lychee and chrysanthemum which I did not like.
There was nothing wrong with the dessert, I just have a personal dislike with edible flowers because they stink.

Something fishy is sizzling on the sizzlier

Restaurant: Pepper Lunch

After having a nice chicken curry sizzler, I decided to try the fish sizzler this time with salmon and mackerel.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Mackerel and salmon sizzler:

The mackerel and salmon are almost cooked when they serve it for safety reasons.

When it is served, you just sizzle the vegetables and sizzle the fish to give it a slightly crisp texture.
Both fish were tender but I liked the mackerel because it had natural fish oils and the fish was really supple.

For the double fish sizzler the side of vegetables is much better than the other sizzles because it contains Chinese cabbage, French beans, sweetcorn and the other sizzlers just come with beanshoots.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Mashed potato with gravy:

Delicious silky mashed potatoes with beef gravy.
The potato had bits of meat in it.

Breakfast @ The Queen Victoria

Restaurant: Queen Victoria

This is my favourite place for breakfast!
It is cheap.
There are no service charges and the pork sausages that they serve are the same as the ones in UK
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Breakfast:

The breakfast had all my favourite items namely: black pudding, sausages, baked beans, egg and mashed potatoes.
The sausages are the best, the pork is spiced with herbs and the sausage skin is crispy and slightly sticky when you cut it with a knife.
The black pudding was the usual fare but delicious dipped in the runny egg yolk accompanied by the baked beans.

It's spring, its time for green fingers

Lobby Lounge (Wan Chai)
Thanks to the Luk Kwok hotel for inviting me to try their new tea sets and THE PLANT~

Located on the ground floor of the spacious Luk Kwok hotel lobby, it is a relaxing place to have drinks and tea.

Tried the high tea set ($168 for two), various tea sets ($70 per person) and the new PLANT dessert.

All of the above comes with drinks and I chose my favourite English breakfast tea.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
English breakfast tea:
The tea was made with fresh leaves hence it had maximum tea flavour.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
High tea set:
This was a three tiered stand, but for photographic purposes I have only taken photos of each tier.
There was a plate of fried items, a plate of finger sandwiches and a plate of sweet treats with scones and cheesecakes accompanied with jam and cream.

My favourites were the curry samosa with raita dip, finger sandwiches, and scones which tasted perfect with cream and jam.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
The Plant:
It was basically a sawdust pudding in that bowl garnished with grounded hazelnuts, biscuit crumbs, chocolate pebbles with a sprig on Rosemary in the centre.
I really liked it because it was fun to eat.
It would be good if there was more grounded hazelnuts because I love hazelnuts.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Seafood green curry and rice:
The green curry was really nice and not too spicy served in a cute clay pot.
The curry sauce was really delicious with the fries.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Club sandwich:
Delicious club sandwiches with fries.
I thought the portion was quite big for one person!
The sandwiches had egg, ham, tomato and lettuce in them.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Crab cakes:
The crab cakes were delicious and the diced cucumber tasted nice together.
The sweet chili sauce is optional because it tastes nice with or without it.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Grilled beef and chicken satays:
The beef and chicken satay were well marinated, they both had strong cumin taste.
The satay sauce was a bit sweet and the peanut taste could be stronger.

More Fujian delights hidden by a market

Shop: 真真美食店 (North Point)
Came here for more Fujian delights because they are rare in Hong Kong.

There are two more, one located in Tokwawan and the other located nearby near the North Point MTR.

I came here especially for the soup which contained stuffed intestines with pork blood.
I do not really like intestines because they smell but I thought the pork blood may be interesting.

Walking down the busy market street, there is also a tram line so trams occasionally go past.
I had trouble locating this place because the Chinese characters at the front of the restaurant were different to the ones listed on OpenRice.

Anyway, finally found it and there were a few tables, the decor was slightly old.
Sat down and the menu was very simplistic too.

Tried the order those intestines stuffed with blood but they don't do them anymore, and tried to order the Taiwanese stir fried noodles but they did not have them either, so ordered the soup with intestines and savoury rice.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Savoury rice:

They didnt give me a spoon but luckily the soup came with one.
The rice does not have much meat in it but it was extremely cheap and delicious with pieces of fish, Chinese mushrooms and peanuts.

It reminded me of stir fried glutinous rice but it was made with normal rice which is not so heavy.
Each grain of rice was covered in soy sauce but not overly salty.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Soup with intestines:

I just drank the soup and it was lovely and sweet because of the Chinese radishes.
There were lots of small diced Chinese radishes in the soup and the texture of the radishes were not too soft.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Next time I should try their daily dishes because it looks good, you can choose two items and rice for $27.

Cheese and ham obanyaki

Shop: Azukiya (Causeway Bay)

Azukiya is located next to Kashayao where they sell sweet and savoury obanyakis.

I have always wanted to try the savoury one, so this time tried the cheese and ham obanyaki.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cheese and ham obanyaki (white):
The obanyakis were half done so it was ready in a flash.

Part of the centre was sticky so it stuck to the paper.

The obanyaki was quite tasteless because 70% of it was the obanyaki pastry which was sticky and chewy, and it was sweet as well so I did not like much.
When I got to the centre it tasted much better because of the gooey cheese.
There was not much ham.
