The Shaw Cafe at London School of Economics LSE

With the trend of the vegan/vegetarian diet, there are so many healthy cafes around.
At LSE, students and people nearby can get their vegan fix on the weekdays at The Shaw Cafe.
The Shaw Cafe opened in Nov 2018 and is proving to be successful.

[Review] Vegan Fish and Chips at Suttons and Son Fish and Chips

A while ago, heard about Suttons and Son Fish and Chips serving vegan fish so decided to try it out.
There are different kinds of vegan fish these days, some are made with tofu called tofush but the one at Suttons is all natrual made with Banana Blossom.
There are a few branches of Suttons but as I wanted to try vegan chicken at Temple of Hackney, I went to this branch so I could eat everything on the same trip.

If you have seen Banana Blossom before, it is just the flower bud of the banana tree similar to bamboo shoot tips so I would imagine it tasting like that.

Anyway, it was how I expected, a whole banana blossom coated in batter and the texture and taste was similar to bamboo shoot tips.

Basically, it flakes like fish and it had a salty aftertaste but if the banana blossom is old and dry, it can taste a bit woody.

As well as vegan fish and chips, they also have a separate Vegan menu which is good!
They are also serving a vegan doner which I really want to try.

The decor of this place is quite nice.

Will be back to try the vegan doner!!

[Review] Vegan Roast at The Victoria Hotel

Quoted from The Victoria Hotel;

[The Victoria Hotel, tucked away in a quiet street near Eastbourne's glorious seafront, has a very welcoming atmosphere and serves up a fine selection of Harveys Ales, including championship winning Best Bitter and a host of seasonal ales.]

I was recommended this pub which is located on the ground floor of The Victoria Hotel by some vegan friends who eat here regularly.

There is nothing like a Sunday roast and here they have Vegan Sunday roast as well as a section on the menu dedicated to vegans!

The Victoria Hotel is at a lovely location near the seafront among some residential houses.
Inside, the decor is instaworthy with a quirky mannequin inside the iconic red phone booth!

Every corner has something that catches your eyes!

Back to the food, as it was Sunday I was there for the Vegan roast which is available with a choice of nut roast or Quorn.
Quorn was sold out that day so I had the Nut Roast.

There were three sizes, Regular, Small and Children's.

Ordered the Regular and small.

Regular:

Having ordered the small, it was very substantial portion in size.

On the plate were roast potatoes, vegan Yorkshire, Swede, gravy, beans, cabbage, stuffing and Nut Roast.
The crucial element had to be the gravy which gives it that roast dinner touch.
As for the vegan Yorkshire, the texture is denser compared to the non vegan version.
The nut roast was very filling flavoured with curry like spices.

Overall very satisfying and I appreciate the vegetarian and Vegan menu offerings.
I was too full for dessert but tried a tweeny bit of the vegan brownie and icecream.
The vegan brownie was rich, soft and sugary while the vegan icecream had an almond taste.
Tea was served with a biscuit.

Will definitely return if I am in the area.

[ç´ è¡— Veggie Guy] Veggie buffet

I am glad that more and more people are health conscious these days which means there are more vegetarian restaurants.
Getting popular than ever are vegetarian buffets.

A few years ago, there were quite a few good ones which didn't make it such as Red Mango, gik ji soh etc.
At Veggie Guy, you can practically experience the buffet any time of the day as they do lunch, afternoon tea an dinner.

This location will not be unfamiliar to vegetarians as this spot used to be THE VEGGIE.

At the buffet section, there were so many dishes to choose from. The DESSERT got my attention because it was English BREAD PUDDING!!!

As well as English dessert, they also had Sichuan mock chicken and other goodies.

Prawn toast:

Truffle egg guo bao:

I just couldn't wait to eat because the last two times I had vegetarian buffet was the wrong timing.
This time, everything was good and I ended up eating lots of stuff.
My favourites were the bread pudding, okra tempura, fried noodles, turmeric rice and much more,
Will definitely come back again.
