Japanese inspired jellies at Hui Lau Shan Healthy Dessert

I am not a regular of Hui Lau Shan but went there to try this new jelly dessert that has flowers in it.
There are three different types of flowers in the jelly which are dusted with green tea powder or mung bean powder.
The labelling of the jelly series were awful because it does not indicate what the three different flowers are.

The desserts cost $17 takeaway or $22 dine in.
When you dine there, THEY ARE MEANT to serve the pudding with the flower side up and sprinkle powder on top like the picture but at this branch she just gave me a spoon which is ludicrous because I was paying for takeaway food at dine in prices.

She finally put it in a dessert bowl when I asked about the green tea powder, otherwise I would have been conned for green tea powder.

Even so, they should give you green tea powder with the takeaway.

Flower lovers will be disappointed at the lack of floral taste but it was ok for me because I can’t stand the taste of flowers and the bitterness of the green tea powder was good to balance the sweetness of the jelly.
As for the texture of the jelly, it was firm and chewy like konjac.

Buffet warzone at Kimberley hotel

Discovered this place after I dined at one of the restaurants in this hotel.
Went to the afternoon buffet but there were lots of people there because they were doing the group buy offer.
The food was average and cheap but it was gone within a few minutes.
They also had Haagen Daaz icecream and it was interesting to watch people take all the flavours back to their table and ask their friends/family to select the flavours they wanted and then bring back the unwanted flavours to the freezer.

The plates were gone in a flash too and every time a stack of plates were brought out, they were bloody hot to pick up!
The only item I found worth sharing was the jelly roll which reminded me of an Artic roll filled with icecream. It was nice they had a dessert that was different and the pairing of strawberry jelly and sponge tasted quite nice.

Vrooom Booom brunch Tea party at Fiat Caffé

As well as good food, they serve fine teas by The London tea company so we had quite a few teas because we were there for brunch.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Herbal infusion:

The name is not what it seems, I was expecting herbs such as lemongrass but it was Roobois which has a smoky burnt taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Fruit infusions:

For this one I was expecting citrus fruit but it had a strong Lemongrass fragrance with a fruity taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Tropical infusion:

The tropical infusion was my favourite because it had sweet notes with a hint of pineapple.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Grilled black cod filet and lentils:

For mains I had the grilled cod which was tender and flakey paired nicely with the appetizing lentils in tomato sauce.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Spring chicken with grilled vegetables:

The chicken was part of the brunch option which is light and tasty rubbed with aromatic rosemary.

Eating radiators AT Linguini Fini

Went here again for pasta.
After my previous experience I rejected the bottle of water because you get charged for it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Radiatore alla Vodka:

Named Radiatore because the pasta resembles a radiator!
It was Radiatore pasta in a spicy nduja laced cream which I found a bit too salty and spicy but it was worth trying because not many places in HK have nduja.
The other place that has it is Jacomax where they have pizzas topped with nduja sauce.

purple series at Arome bakery

Just some random desserts I had at Arome bakery
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Sweet purple potato cup:

This was a delicious desserts but at some branches, some of them are dehydrated because the mochi was hard and dry and the mousse has gone a darker colour where it has been dehydrated.

The jelly bits in the dessert were nice though.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Strawberry dessert cup:

The strawberry mousse was better than expected because it tasted natrual.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Mango cake:

Not a fan of mango and the cake tasted too sweet.

Dainty Chinese food at Zen Too

Came here ages ago with my friend.
The restaurant was hip and modern with creative dishes.

Had the Sweet and sour pork with pineapple buns.
The sweet and sour pork was served in this really cute saucepan.

Curry beef brisket:

The curry brisket was my favourite, I loved the creamy curry sauce which you put on the tartlets.
Both dishes were great fun because there was a fun DIY factor to it.
The only downside was the portion size.

Yoshinoya's new pork bowl

I am not a fan of beef so when this new pork bowl was launched for tea, I had to give it a try.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pork bowl:

The pork is thinly sliced just like the beef with sweet sauce poured on top which I did not like.
I prefer lean pork but luckily the pickles helped to cut the oilyness of the fat.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Yoshinoya:
Shop A, G/F, Lucky Centre, 165-171 Wan Chai Road Wan Chai.

It can't get any more RAW than this at Mana! Raw

Discovered this place after dining at the Butchers Club.

They offer lots of raw juices so tried the CHI.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
chi:

This was a blend of red cabbage, cauliflower, kale and carrots

It had a strong grassy taste with a bitter tone to it.

Retro snack joint at 容媽媽

I was attracted to this joint by the stall like décor, which has an old twist to it.

There were lots of things to choose from and I was tempted to get the noodles but as I was having dinner I opted for the fried inside out tofu puffs stuffed with cuttlefish.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
tofu puffs stuffed with cuttlefish:

They looked exactly like the inside out tofu puffs at Cheung Chau but they weren’t as tasty because the cuttlefish patty was evidently a cuttlefish ball that was rubbery and tasteless.

Anyway, there was a side of Chinese sweet sauce which made the crispy tofu delicious.

They also had fried beancurd rolls stuffed with cuttlefish which probably taste better than these tofu puffs so if I am around here again I hope to try their noodles and beancurd rolls.
