International choices of curry @ 專業咖喱皇 Curry Expert King

I am a curry lover, especially the Indian type, the variety here is quite good, but geared towards the Indian taste of the strong herbs.

There are lot of curries, ie English, Malay, Argentina, Sweet and Sour, Mango, Italian etc.

I ordered English thinking it would be the pub type with raisins and apricots, which is was not, I was told it contains milk, but anyway it tasted good.
Also ordered the Sweet and Sour one with tomatoes, could not taste the tomatoes or the sourness, but still strong on the Indian side.
Same with the Italian one, couldnt taste the cheese and potato.

The good thing with the curries, you can select the level on how hot you want it, the Indian Naan is better than the other places because it is the dry non oily type.

Tofu drink @ 豪江豆業 Macau Soybean

Usually sweet tofu is served from the wooden buckets and into bowl, with yellow sugar added according to each persons taste.

I was intrigued by this place, as they have it in drink form.

For $5 I got a cup of sweet tofu with tapioca pearls in it. I have tried Soya milk before, but not Sweet tofu as a drink.
Apart from tapioca pearls, you can also choose red beans in it, as the other option.

The whole drink is not aesthetically pleasing, it looks like puke, but it tastes good, not sweet, but a bit savory, almost like cooked tofu. There was however a slight tinge of sourness.

As for the staff, they assume you know what it is, not that willing to explain.
I had to guess the price of the drink, as she didnt tell me how much it was.

Spinach noodles in tomato soup @ 羅坤發粉麵 Lo Kwan Fat Noodles

After seeing the appetising pictures posted on Openrice, I was there to try the spinach noodle in tomato soup, honestly if the noodle had been white or yellow, I probably wouldn’t have read the review in much detail, but it turns out the green noodle is spinach noodle.

When I got there, I poked the picture of it, and didn’t know what “ngau gan” was, as I couldn’t see clearly from their picture, so asked the waitress.
Anyway I got this very impressive answer; well “ngau gan” is just “ngau gan”!

It turns out when I got the noodles, the “ngau gan” is just beef tendons.

The bowl was filled with halved tomatoes, plenty of beef tendons and the green spinach noodles.

Took a sip at the soup, not very sour, but not artificial tomato soup, as for the noodles not that tasty, but after waiting a while for it to soak up the soup, it was ok.
As for the beef tendons, I selectively ate them, as they usually contain animal hair in them.
It was quite soft, and strong in that beef belly marinade.

The place was not as clean as described, but OK to eat there.

Chinese French toast with hash browns @ KFC

Went to KFC for breakfast, already had in mind to order the chicken and cheese muffin, however saw this new sandwich, chicken, egg, hash brown sandwiched in between the Chinese French fried toast, the one dipped in egg and fried.

It looked big on the picture, but not that big when I got it, the chicken, egg, potato were not on top of each other, but laid side by side, so the sandwich was manageable.

Tasted ok, but the bread was slightly wet and soggy. There could have been more sauce, and the sauce wasn’t as orange as shown on their product photo.
I think if the muffin, had these ingredients, I would opt for muffin, not a great fan with french fried toast.

Pierce chicken @ 加州紅Green Box

Firstly I am not a Green box person, I only go to Neway.
So basically I was already biased towards their karoake system and food before I even sat down.

We got there late in the afternoon, opted for the buffet and was told the buffet starts at 7.
I wasn’t very pleased, because Neway’s buffet starts at 6.30, and we were told, we could stay till 8.30 depending on how busy they were and 1.5 hours isn’t a very long time for food.

Anyway, sat down in the room, and ordered their Fruit punch, the only good drink they have, syrupy fruit punch, that isn’t very sweet, with bits of orange fruit in it.

After a while, a waiter came in with two large piping hot baked oysters, which was quite a relief, as I was very hungry and eagerly waiting for it to turn 7, so I could go out and get the food.
The oyster was topped with melted cheese, and the oyster surrounded with white mushroom sauce.
It all combined well together, and I felt a little bit better after that, not so hungry.

I took a look at their promotional flyers on the desk, and was amazed they have Pierce chicken, and serve their snacks, so I was wondering if that would be included in the buffet.

Finally it turned 7pm, and so I went out and collected the food, I picked stir fried instant noodles, and the chicken wings (which seem to be from Pierce). They tasted like the ones at Pierce.

For the dessert, I got this Thai thing with coconut milk, which contained sea coconut and these pandan flour things. The dessert was ok, a bit sweet, so I only scooped out the pandan things, which tasted good.

Overall, I got a better impression of the Green box, and they also issue you with an official receipt too.

I also saw them have a team meeting on how to improve things, which seems reassuring for their patrons, improving the floor standard, so that its not so slippery.

Banana pie @ McDonalds

Tried the banana pie even thought I dont like Banana, but I like to trying new things.

It tasted rather sweet, with a cooked banana taste.

Cold pie @ caffè HABITŪ

Initially came to try their sea salt chocolate cake, but it was rather cold that day, so decided have a hot pie instead and feel warmish and leave the cake for the next visit.

Was greeted by a rather busy waitor, who was talking on his cell phone, after he finished his conversation, I ordered breakfast tea and chicken pie.

The food arrived, but I wasnt very impressed, because parts of the pie was still cold, but I was too lazy to asked for it to be reheated.
For the tea, I wasnt given any sugar, so I had to ask for a sachet.

Anyway for heated foods, this has given me a bad impression. Compared with pacific coffee, 99% of their heated stuff is piping hot.
