Turkish baked potato @ 薯皇 Big Potato

As a brit, we all love the Jacket, so had to give this a try.

Although it isnt really the typical british baked potato with butter, there are lots of choices, ie seafood, mexican etc. Actually you can say the toppings are like a normal brit jacket, except the skin is not that crunchy.

Nevertheless, the potato is cut in half, and the guy mashes the inside nice and soft, so it is very convenient to eat, with no hard clumps. Then he carefully adds the toppings and then the sauce.

The ocean one I ordered has prawns, sweetcorn, olives, purple cabbage, with mayonnaise, their home made pink sauce and ketchup, personally I didnt think Ketchup would match with it, so I opted without.

But anyway apart from the burnt skin, it all tasted good, a nice combination.
Presentation was pretty too, all the different colours, ie the sweetcorn, sauces, and the purple cabbage.

If only the surrounding was better, there is an irritating dustbin infront of the shop, where you have to endure the nasty second hand smoke from smokers, and the burnt cigarette butts.

Anyway as for the turkish owner, I believe he used to be the chef at "Our Restaurant"

Taiwanese oyster noodles @ 阿升麵線 Ay-Sheng Flour-Rice Noodle

Finally made an effort to queue and order in the packed streets of mong kong.

The shop is similar to that of Ar To, packaging, posters , but not as commercial as they are.
Anyway I think the hygiene is better at Ar To, here it is just a little disorganised, but anyway the taste is roughly the same.

"man cheung" chicken with rice @ 名苑酒家 Ming Garden Restaurant

Apart from the noisy environment of the usual eaters barking and yelling to have conversations, and the heavy wooden chairs scraping against the tiled floors, the food was ok.

Ordered their famous "crispy" chicken steak with rice, their signiture "man cheung" chicken with rice.

The crispy chicken, was not crispy at all, infact tasted like the frozen chicken thighs, the other sliced chicken was a bit bruised shown on the picture. In fact I felt we were given bits and ends of chicken rather than chicken, so that was a bit of a con.

But anyway the star of the show was the dipping sauce.
Usually it is made from oil with ginger and spring onion, however ths one was clear, and watery, didnt taste like oil, but strong in garlic, slightly sweet too.

Almond caramel mousse tart @ Teresa Festival

A classy shop in the midst of Queen's Road East, but not that noticeable.
Anyway it looks like a Victorian shop, rather than a cake shop.

I ordered a Almond caramel mousse tart to takeaway, I thought it was not really worth that price, basically it is flavoured cream topped with crushed Almond, not mousse at all on a dark chocolate base tart base.

Shake Shake Chicken @ McDonalds

I was expecting the Shake Shake chicken to be a chicken burger with Shake Shake powder, but it turned out to be a fried piece of chicken breast. Even without the powder it tasted good, you can see bits of black pepper on the coating.

After the powder was put in, it enhanced the chicken even more, the black pepper and the sweetness in the honey BBQ went well.

The quality of the chicken was good too, tender and juicy.

Gunge like taiwanese thread noodles @ 漁民魚蛋王子

Decided to try the taiwanese noodle threads, as the only other two I have tried are from Ar To and Ar Sing.

However the one here is not as good, firstly the staff didnt even know, they are supposed to offer the condiments such as coriander, vinegar, hot radish etc.
Secondly the quality of the noodles is a bit gunge like, the noodles are so chopped up, and the whole thing is so thick.

As for the taste, just tasted strong in peppar.

shake da lil mini burger buns @ Shake'em Buns

I am not really a beef lover, but sometimes I will eat beef burgers. I am impressed with the range at this place, so many flavours to try.
When I saw the little buns, it totally satisfied my hunger and greediness, because they are small enough not to stuff you up, and there are three of them in a set, each of different flavours.

I ordered the Mushroom lovers, three little mini burgers all with mushroom but different sauces, neatly presented in a cute little box.

There are three sets, which I have all tried, Mushroom is on the lighter side, Southern hospitality will send your tastebuds on a spicy sensation, and the Hawaiian Threesome is a good mix with some chicken, and Philly beef.

I also tried the Tater dongs too with onion gravy, potato croquettes with silky smooth mashed potato inside. Although a little pricey, but so far, I haven’t found any good potato croquettes around the area.
Fried things are good by chance, ie the oil isnt old, and it isnt overfried.

As for the milkshakes, they cant go wrong with vanilla ice-cream, so it tasted OK.
