Malaysian Delights @ 美食吧

Previously this shop used to be Quezon and then a shop selling Taiwanese spicy snacks.
I noticed it recently because they had Penang style prawn noodles.
As well as Malaysian food they also had other cuisines such as Spicy Chongqing noodles and the Chinese noodles with toppings that you choose.

I was quite surprised that they had such a big range in a small shop, but then Quezon had a great range when it was open.

Although there is lots of variety, it is also limited for the time being because they do not offer the full range at the moment.

Took a picture of the product pictures and noticed that they are still using the three pin round socket which I thought would be extinct now!

Prawn noodles:
The broth was really sweet with strong prawn taste, however the prawns that were given were the frozen ones.
The noodles were the thick yellow ones and really soft if you compare them to the ones at Prawn noodle shop.
There was lots of morning glory in it too.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Laksa noodles:
The noodles contained cuttlefish balls, tofu puffs and egg noodles.
The broth was coconut based.
I am not sure if there are meant to be any shrimps in the noodles because the product picture/sample has shrimps in it.
I wish there was more broth.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Curry chicken:
The colour of the curry was quite nice and there was lots of basil leaves in it.
The coconut was strong and it was freshly grounded coconut.

Dinky Japanese cheesecakes @ Mini One

Saw these cute pieces of cheesecake so bought two to try. They are priced by weight.
I did not try their croissants because they looked dry and hard. The cheesecake was light and not heavy.
It had so many different tones in the taste, first I could taste some coconut, next the cheese and then the sweetness.
The size of these cheesecakes are about 6cm x 4cm.

Menu : David Ramen

To Try : Chinnery and The Globe

Scotch Egg @ Mushroom Bakery

Currently in Sai Kung there are only two places that serve this Scotch egg: Ali Oli and Mushroom Bakery.

A Scotch egg consists of a hard-boiled egg wrapped in sausage meat, coated in breadcrumbs and deep-fried.

So far the best one I have tasted would still have to be the one at Marks and Spencers.

Anyway the one here tasted OK but the MSG was too strong.
The egg was flavoured as well.
The sausage meat was not soft enough but I liked the herbs they put in the sausage meat.

Mushoom ravioli and mulligatawny soup @ Delaney's

Usually I come here for roast or order their daily lunch if it looks good.
That day they had mushroom ravioli and mulligatawny soup which is not normally on the menu so I went in for it.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Mushoom ravioli with pesto cream sauce
Although there were only about five raviolis on the plate it tasted delicious.
The mushrooms inside were wild mushrooms and had a really nice strong taste.
The sauce for the ravioli was really creamy and it there was pesto puree topped on top and tomato sauce in the middle.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Mulligatawny soup
This was a light watery soup that was curry flavoured.
There was rice in it as well which is similar to the texture of rice you find in the Chinese congee.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Grilled fish with green peas
The grilled fish was delicious and it was on a bed of generous mash.
The highlight of the dish was the green pea puree on top.

Poached egg salmon tartar @ CEO Neway

Food at CEO is always good and this time there was something that was not always on the menu.
It was Poached egg on Salmon tartar.

I was having difficulty choosing what to order because all the choices were delicious.
The one I ordered is not normally on the menu and I knew I was going to be hungry after finishing it.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Poached egg on Salmon tartar
When it arrived I was really impressed because not only was it just poached egg and salmon tartar there were other goodies as well. There was salmon roe on top of the poached egg and there was lots of truffle oil and grounded truffle in the salad. The salmon tartar was held in a deep fried pastry wonton skin that had a bowl shape in the middle. There was also a piece of thin crispy apple slice in the salad.
The tartar tasted really nice and it had creamy avocado and mango pieces. As for the poached egg, it tasted really nice with the salmon roe especially the saltiness of the salmon roes with the egg white.
