Crappy green monday

Made a reservation and they said the dining time was from 6:30 to 8.45 because the restaurant was fully booked.
When I arrived, it was empty and it remained empty.

Anyway, when I got there, they allocated me the TATAMI.
Why the hell would I want to sit in a bloody TATAMI, do I bloody look Japanese?

Ordered the hotpot but they forgot the wontons and some other dumplings which really annoyed me because their hotpots are more expensive than normal non vegetarian hotpots.

The service was shit and appalling as well and a shame to the vegetarian society because people like David Yeung and the Green Monday organisations are working very hard to promote Green and vegetarian awareness.

God knows how long those chestnuts have been kept in their fridge because it was dry and oxidised (brown) should be binned, you could tell they've gone bad because they've just sliced the rotting surfaces away.

The Bak Kut Teh broth was interesting because they used a soup bag which was obviously bought from somewhere.

What pissed me off even more was the bored waitress who kept coming over to my table and watch me eat did not even tell me there were sauces for the hotpot.
I only found out about the sauces when I got home and read the previous reviews.

The bored waitress was useless as well because she saw my hotpot heat up with the broth spilling and she did not even bother to come and turn down the gas.

If the restaurant was busy I could understand the lack of service (if any at all) but there were only 2-3 tables which shows how busy they are.

Anyway, the taro dumpling was quite good, it was filled with sticky thick taro paste.

Kee Wah's green tea and red bean roll

Thanks to Wanttoeat for getting me this.
A lovely moist and soft green tea rolls that was not too sweet filled with delicious red bean paste in the middle.

Fish glorious fish!!

I love the fish sets at this place!!
It is only $40 including rice, soup and dessert!!

Dessert:
I don't like Chinese desserts anyway! but it came with it.

Soup:
There was no MSG, so the soup was quite good.

Tried the fish twice, they were fresh and steamed just right because the fish was soft and supple.
Black beans were my favourite.

Auntie Sweet was too sweet this time

Came back for the tofu with blended strawberry slush, however the strawberry slush was too sweet this time.
The tofu beneath it was quite nice but it lacked soy bean taste.

My food visions fulfilled at the GLASSHOUSE

Thanks to the Gaia group for this $500 gift certificate to dine at the Glasshouse.

The Glasshouse offers all day dining with bar food created from their existing restaurants such as Greyhound, Wang Jia Sha, Zelo, Isola and more.
It offers mouth watering Asian Cuisine with a Western twist, perfect for expats with a relaxing roof top garden surrounded by the glitzy harbour views.

Here was what we tried.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Potato croquettes with seaweed and scallop with sweet & sour mango sauce $58

Each croquette had a cute disposable plastic fork which made them manageable to eat.
They were crispy filled with delicious potatoey filling and scallop pieces but I could not taste the seaweed.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Crab cakes with edamame beans and organic corn with yuzu mayo $78

The crab cakes were enhanced by the edamame beans which gave it a sweet twist.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pad Thai black ink noodles with barbeque pork, tofu, egg and soy bean sprouts $118

This was definitely the star of the evening because I don't like Cambodian noodles and it has been replaced with squid ink noodles which were al dente.
There was a cute ceramic pot with an egg to mix in the noodles.

After it was added, the noodles were much silkier.
Then lime juice was added making the noodles even more refreshing.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Wagyu beef burger with black truffle mayonnaise and homemade pickles

I am not fond of beef but I loved the homemade pickles which balanced the beefiness of the beef.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Crepe filled with Otap cookies, ube ice cream and pomelo $78

It was great that they serve Filipino Otap cookies inside the crepe giving it a lovely crunchy centre paired with cooling ube ice cream.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Midnight gloria (grapefruit juice, passionfruit puree, fresh lime juice, butterfly tea topping, lime zest) 58

They had so many choices for tea which took me a long time to decide!
Anyway, the one I had was nice and refreshing and not too sweet.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Thanks to the voucher, we only had to fork out another $31.
(but due to some teething problems I think we paid the bill for the table next to us because they had oysters and the items on the bill don't quite match what we had.
I only realized the bill was not ours when I was writing up this review).

I can't wait to come here again because the food and drinks are amazing and I haven't tried everything yet!

Fish shaomai with wood ear fungus at Original taste

Again, I was waiting in the area for other foodies to go to a tasting when I spotted the fish shao mai with wood ear fungus at Original Taste Workshop.

It said $10 for members but I was also able to get them for $10.

It was good that they had a variety of sauces and not just the standard soy sauce, chili oil that you find at local convenience stores.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fish Shaomai with wood ear fungus:

The shaomais were tasteless but since there were lots of sauces, it helped to enhance the taste and the wood ear fungus gave it a nice mouthfeel and crunch.
On the poster, there was also shittake mushrooms in it but I could not taste them.

La plage at La Creperie

Went to LA Creperie again and had the lemon crepe.

It was different to the version I had in 2010 because this time it had icecream and no meringue.

Review in 2010:

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
La plage:
lemon cream, mint and icecream
The creamy lemon sauce tasted like lemon curd with a refreshing minty taste.

The scoop of icecream was optional in my opinion because I would have preferred it without and the crepe tasted nice without it.
