Too spicy at 華廈工友茶水部

Well hidden little joint that you would assume was the reception to that building.
Only tried it because there were no reviews on this place.

Tried the fish and pork curry which was a weird combination of fried fish filet and pork chop pieces.
Anyway, the curry was too spicy to the point that it was bitter.

Fish! Fish! Lovely steamed fish at 綠雅茶檔

I saw photos of the steamed fish on LLWL's FB so dined there twice because the steamed fish was great.

The joint was quite neat and the people were polite.

Steamed fish with Chinese olives and tofu:

I loved this dish because there were generous slabs of tofu beneath the fish which absorbed all the flavouring and the Chinese olives were chunky and tasty while the fish was silky smooth.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Steamed fish with tofu puffs with black bean:

This was not as delicious as the first but the fish was good because it was soft flavoured by the salty black beans.

Salmon and roe rice bowl at Yoshinoya

Came here for a quick fix so got the rice with salmon and flying fish roe.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Salmon and flying fish roe rice bowl:

Overall, it was quite good but the rice was too soggy and there was too much soy sauce which made it too salty.
After the meal, I was thirsty all day.

Weird curry at YONGLI (Quarry Bay)

Came here because it was empty.

The food was just the usual Chinese Cafe fare.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Curry:

The curry I had was extremely hot and weird.
It was not hot because of the spices but hot because of the chili oil.
How weird that there was chili oil in the curry.

Great instant noodles in a Chinese roast shop

Discovered this place a while ago when I was dining at a restaurant nearby.

I was captivated by their instant noodles so dined there.

As well as instant noodles, they also have other interesting combinations such as roast pork and luncheon meat (spam)!!

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Soup:

The soup was too salty for my liking.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Instant noodles and roast pork:

The instant noodles were surprisingly good because they were al-dente with a strong sesame oil taste, however the roast pork was disappointing because it was too dry.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Roast pork, luncheon meat with rice:

The roast pork was from the same batch as above, so it was dry and hard but the luncheon meat was just the usual stuff which tasted nice.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
I havent tried their other roast items but it was a little disappointing that the roast from a roast specialist was not as good as anticipated..

Di Di Xiang branches out to Wan Chai

I was surprised to see a second branch of Di Di Xiang in Wan Chai.

They are famous for hand tossed noodles and squid egg patties.

At this branch, you order and pay at the counter and they will bring the food over.

It was a little disorganized to begin because the staff were not sure what to do.

The menu was the same as the one in Mong Kok.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Soup:

The soup was too salty.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Squid and Chinese radish patty:
This was the best tasting item on the menu, there was so much grated Chinese radish and squid mixed together with a delicious crispy panfried coating.

It came with Sweet chili sauce but it tastes better paired with their homemade chili sauce.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Stir fried fish noodles Chiuchow style:

The sauce was too salty and the portion was small compared to Mong Kok.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Hand made Shantou noodles:

Again, the portion was small and it was too salty but the noodles were nice.
The meat sauce on top looked like........

Tofu salad from Take Out Sushi

Take Out Sushi (Wan Chai)

While I was walking past, I noticed the tofu salad, so went in and got it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tofu salad:

The salad was quite nice because the sesame dressing was not heavy or too sweet.

There was finely sliced lettuce at the bottom mixed with sesame sauce, topped with kelp and sliced tofu on top.
The salad at the bottom was mildly sweet with an appetizing light sesame dressing but the smooth tofu slices were rather bland, however having the kelp and tofu together made it a lot tastier.
