Wrapped mixed grain rice [Health works]

The wrapped rice looked good from the poster so decided to try it out because it was vegetarian.

It was better than my expectation because the rice was soft and loose and there were bits of preserved vegetables and funghi which made the rice tasty.

The rice was nice and soft but it was a tad too salty and oily.
I also found chickpeas in it as well.

Maria’s Molten buns

Saw on their Facebook that they had these molten chocolate buns so I decided to try them out.

As well as molten chocolate buns they had the original molten custard ones so I got both.

These size of these buns were smaller than expected which was good because I didn’t fancy having a big one.

Molten custard bun:

The molten custard bun was really nice and the filling was runny with a sweet salted yolk custard taste.

The chocolate bun was not as good as expected because the chocolate filling was too strong and starchy.

Healthy craving at Tallore

Went back to Tallore again for dinner because I had a big hunger craving.


This time I had the chili con carne with rice, hummous with some baguette slices.

chili con carne:

The chili con carne at this place is not spicy but they have spices for you to add.

It was rich with lots of lean minced beef and diced carrots.

When you eat it, you can tell the beef is good because it doesn’t give you chewing troubles because low grade beef has these chewy fatty elastic bits!!
Normally they give you mixed grain rice but I asked for the salad rice.

Compared to other hummous the colour is slightly green and the lemon taste isn’t strong but it was wonderful with bread.

As a tea lover, I am tempted to try these teas because the design is nice and at the back the plastic is clear so you can see inside.

Truly natural purple sweet potato at Small Potato Ice Creamery

On the first visit, I made the mistake of ordering the mixed softserve because you can't really taste the sweet potato softserve properly.

This time I just got sweet potato softserve with some extra sweet potato mash.
It was much nicer and the whole thing was not sweet which was great, the mash made it even more delicious because it was like having real sweet potatoes with icecream.

Mega bowl of noodles at Tomato Club

For fun I got the $66 bowl of noodles which is a huge bowl about the size of the tray.


I chose the instant noodles which is topped with almost everything from egg, shitaake mushrooms and meat.

The broth was too spicy, otherwise it would have been nice and the scrambled egg was fairly good because it was fluffy and slightly runny.

Quick noodles for lazy buggers 張榮記蝦子麵廠

Thanks to Emily for getting me these noodles from  張榮記蝦子麵廠.

They are already flavoured so you just add boiling water which will make them go soft and ready to eat.
The porcini one was my favourite because it had strong bold mushroom flavours.

Iron buddha tea softserve at 天仁喫茶趣

Saw photos of the iron buddha softserve which is only available at the MaOnShan branch.


The English and Chinese seem to contradict because in Chinese it says Iron buddha but in English it says Iron Buddha oolong.

I would have tried The chocolate room too which was nearby but they didn't have the sweet purple potato softserve that day.

Iron buddha tea softserve:

The softserve cost $20 and it was huge but unfortunately the taste was not that good.
It was powdery and bitter lacking fragrant aroma that iron buddha should have.
The softserve was too icy for my liking but if they made iron buddha ice lollies or sorbets without the milk, I think it would taste great because who puts milk with Chinese tea!
