Back at Boomshack

Since my last visit, there are so many new items on the menu and the existing items have improved.

We came in a big group so we shared.

Chips and Salsa:

These were addictive and moreish with the tasty salsa, guacamole and sour cream dips.

Fajitas:

This is a new item with a colourful 7 layered dip made with refried beans, guacamole, cheese, salsa and olives.



The beef was juicy and delicious with the lime wedges that were given.

Beet Fries:

The beet fries are coated in cornstarch flour which gives them a lovely crispy coating while the beetroot is kept juicy and moist.
They were definitely addictive!!
But be warned cooked beets will change the colour of your urine and faeces, so don't be shocked!

Tater Tots:

These were crispy mashed potato nuggets which had a nice crunchy and cheesy taste.

Chicken Waffle:

This is an improved version of the waffles I had before because the waffle is different and it had a nice sweet and savoury balance.

King Kong:

I liked this burger because it had spam in it.

Surprisingly good at Congress Plus

I have always wanted to try this place because my friend LLWL who loves to eat and does not post publicly on social media said this place was good.

Prices are about $6xx per person with further discounts when more people dine with you.

The buffet area was spacious and there was a wide range of cuisines ranging from Chinese, Okinawan, Seafood, Desserts.

It was impressive they had blood sausage as well.

I basically couldn't wait to eat so I started on my favourite salad which had seagrapes in a refreshing dressing.

The baby sardines in grated radish was a nice appetizer in a delicious vinegar sauce and the crab congee was light and delicious.


I tried the soybean salad which was sweet with kelp mixed into it.

Next we had seafood which was fresh and my favourite was the tuna.

In the Chinese selection my favourite was the fish maw and tendons which were soft in rich gravy.



The retro skewer has been modernized into a healthy one which does not contain a slice of pork fat, I tried it and I loved the juicy melon and silky chicken liver.

For soup I had the delicious seafood soup which is made to order and it had a lovely strong parsley taste.

foodpanda x JACOMAX Pizzeria

My third time using foodpanda, the trusted delivery service.


Ordered from Jacomax because I have tried it before.
The carbonara was creamy and the pasta was al-dente with generous pieces of bacon in it.

For the other dish, I had the risotto which was filling and tasty.

Basically a great option to order on a rainy/sunny day when you are too lazy to get out of the office!

Lettuce and fish soup at Snack Express

Just felt like eating some veggies so went to Snack Express.
It was late that evening so the ladies there were better tempered because there were no customers.

There was lots of lettuce but the fish broth was rather bland hence the lettuce was tasteless.

Tulsi is great for lunch any day!

Went to Tulsi for a quick lunch because the food comes fast.

Had naan and a bindi masala because I didn’t feel like having any meat that day.

It was a race against time to eat it before it cools down because it tastes the best hot with a crisp , chewy and warm.

bindi masala:

This was viscous pieces of okra and delicious tomatoes cooked together, it was quite spicy but went well with the naan bread.

Good dough stick rice rolls at Wonton Master

I was a bit reluctant to dine here because it is located in Kwun Tong but since it is recommended by Michelin I decided to give it a go.

The stir fried beef flat noodles are meant to be good but it was not my cup of tea so here was what I tried:

Cucumber soymilk:

This was refreshing and it was blended with fresh cucumber so it was not sweetened.

Wonton noodles:

I am not keen on this but I liked the mini portion and the size of the springy wontons.

Spinach and beancurd:

The beancurd was soft and tasty with young spinach leaves beneath it.

dough stick rolls:

Although this place is famous for the beef noodles and wonton noodles, I like this dish the most because it was not oily and the crueller sticks in the middle were crispy and chewy.

Too spicy

I will probably come back for the dough stick rolls and congee which I forgot to take a picture of.

Apple cinnamon mousse cake at 2/3 Dolci Tè Piazza

The cute little apple sitting on top of this cake captivated me so I decided to get it.

Apple cinnamon mousse cake:
The little apple was well crafted because inside there was delicious apple mousse with chunks of apple in it and the apple chocolate shell was nice and thin.

Beneath the mousse was this delicious crumbly base.
