Cheap and filling Indian snacks at Street Fast Food

Discovered this place because it was surrounded by so many Asians and it reminded me of 2star's Fast Food Center.

You could see the menu clearly from across the road, there were samosas, aloo tikka, samosa chats for $20!

I got the aloo tikki for $20 and when they gave it to my, I was shocked how heavy the bag was, when I opened it, the size of these aloo tikkis were the same as donuts.

They were a bit too spicy but they were really delicious because it was made with heavy mashed silky potatoes and peas in a crispy grounded maize coating.

I was given two sachets of sauce with one but the aloo tikki were tasty and didn't need it.

They had momos as well but it would be hard to eat them standing up so I didn't get them.

Chicken Schnitzel and chips from News Room

It seems that food less than $50 in Quarry Bay won’t taste good.
Went to News Room which has now become a takeaway joint for chicken Schnitzel and chips but the chicken was dry and there was no cheese in the middle.

The fries were a bit salty and they put salt and black pepper in it by default, which ruined it.
I would have chosen fish and chips but the fish were already fried and sitting there to be re-fried again.

Cream puffs from Sushi take out

Apart from Marks and Sparks, you can’t really get good cream puffs or chocolate eclairs.
The closest cheap craving I could find was this cream puff from Sushi Takeout.
Unfortunately the puff was a bit dehydrated so the texture was dry like weird Styrofoam and the cream inside was Chinese fake cream which was a bit sweet but almost there.

Great views and fine food at A La Umai

The first thing that gets your attention when you arrive at the restaurant is the beautiful view of Hong Kong.
You are greeted with the view of the typhoon shelter and exhibition centre.

A different perspective!

Sunset:

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Started off with warm and crispy bread.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Iberico ham with melon:

The ham was waxy and flavourful paired nicely with the sweet crisp melon.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
French oyster bisque:

For starters I chose the oyster bisque which was loaded with chopped up oysters.
The taste was strong and the taste was similar to Chinese dried oysters (Ho See) in soup form.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Braised Australian kobe boneless oxtail with Rosemary red wine sauce:

The name was rather fancy and I wonder if the tail would taste any different to other cows from other countries because all tails are the same.
Anyway, it was nice that it was boneless which meant you got all the delicate tail meat in rich red wine sauce.
As expected the beef was tender and gelatinous.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Tomato with Champagne jelly:
The dessert was interesting because it was tomato with Champagne jelly.

The jelly was refreshing but the champagne flavour could be stronger and the tomato was sweet which made it appropriate as dessert but kind of weird eating sweet tomatoes.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
The set dinners are priced from HKD$398-528 with 10% on top depending on the mains you choose.
The only flaw was the air conditioning which was too cold especially if you are sitting in the middle facing the window.

[Ice Monkey] Softserve and caviar anyone?

I was in K-Town to try Jack’s fried chicken but unfortunately it has closed down so I went to no soup curry instead.
After the curry I went here for dessert.

There were icecreams, smoothies and this weird softserve and caviar so I went for the weird.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
softserve and caviar:

The softserve and caviar tasted surprisingly good together because the softserve was not too creamy or too sweet otherwise this would have made the caviar taste weird.
The caviar that was served was quite good quality because they were crisp with bursts of saltiness which is similar to softserves with fancy salt.
The only improvement would be the presentation, it looks a bit sloppy with prized caviar just about to drop from the edge.

Arome bakery's tiramisum cake

Got these because someone was leaving.
It was a creamy; tiramisum cake with a coffee flavoured sponge at the bottom and creamy mousse dusted with chocolate powder.

Lucullus Gourmet Shop's Treasure box of moon fest chocolates 2015

I love the new mooncake revolution that breaks the traditional, first they launched snowy mooncakes then the custard filled ones, now they have chocolate mooncakes as well as icecream mooncakes.
The Lucullus mooncake series range from traditional to just chocolates.
I got the Classic Treasure chocolate mooncake gift box which has 14 pieces of chocolate in it with a big chocolate in the middle that represents the mooncake.

The chocolates are great for sharing.

Contents in the box:

[Clockwise from the top left: Dark four brother, Milk pistachio coffee, red autmn leaf corn truffle, milk hazelnut crunch, Lychee truffle mini mooncake, Lotus flower truffle, Milk truffle, star hazelnut praline, dark truffle, Milk almond Lucullus, Green tea truffle, sesame truffle mini mooncake ]
The chocolate mooncake:
Ginger x Milk chocolate : Cranpucchino
The chocolates were enjoyable, especially the green tea truffle, Milk pistachio coffee and the dark truffle.
