I discovered Eggoland because it popped up on my insta and it instantly reminded me of eggslut down the road but with more offerings.
Eggoland certainly appealed to me because the of the play of words and how their restaurant decor is eggscellently vibrant and colourful like lego.
If you look closely at the Eggoland logo, you will see that the bun is like layers of lego stacked together.
Although not invited I was so chuffed to win a meal at Eggoland because I truly believe in their eggtastic choices, I mean who doesn't love eggporn and oozy yolk.
Before my visit, I definitely did my research to make sure I knew what I wanted.
So basically they do buns with egg and there are six choices including choices for vegans.
There is basically a bun for everyone including Middle Eastern inspired buns to basics which are all Halal.
It is good to see more modern Halal options like this along with Pie Factory and Pie Republic.
This is the trend these days as all diets have been put in consideration to design the menu.
I narrowed my choices down to Fakey eggs and baccy, hills n valley, feeling decadent which were all good in their own ways.
Fakey eggs would be a good chance of trying Zero Eggs (developed from an Israeli company), the Feeling decadent has duck as well as duck egg and hills n valley has Glamorgan patties.
As most people have reviewed the Fakey eggs and as much as I wanted to try the fakey eggs, I decided to go for the feeling decadent as it hasn't been featured yet.
The feeling decadent is shredded duck confit, face down duck fried egg, caramelized onions, spring onions and mixed leaves
As with all their buns, everything was eggporn and eggtastic that you can effortlessly get an instaworthy picture as well as most importantly being.
I love the way, the bun is neatly sliced in half with the egg yolk dripping which saves you from that anticipation of when the yolk is going to burst.
The feeling decadent was definitely how I imagined it to be, the chunks of shredded duck were tender complimented by the sweet onions and fragrant spring onions and the fried duck egg was definitely more substantial in taste as well as texture compared to a chicken egg.
To summarize I really recommend this as well as the other buns so I will be definitely coming back to try the fakey eggs as well.
Also tried the hash brown bites which are ingeniously airfried hence it is healthier with less oil and they are super crispy as well shaped like cute little eggs!
Just want to say a big Thank you to Eggoland, Posh Cockney and boxer Sohail Ahmad for this treat giveaway on instagram and hope to see Eggoland popup everywhere as well as internationally which I am sure it will. Not relevant to food but Sohail has a super friend shibu called CASPER and it was such a good experience because I overcame my fear of dogs which was a good start.
A few years ago I spotted this fish and chip shop in Waterloo called the Fishcotheque and made a mental note to visit but obviously I forgot about it. I was recently at Waterloo again so paid a visit to Fishcotheque which is now rated the second best London chippy on Tripadvisor.
Prices are cheaper for takeaway and there is a service charge dining in even though it says "service charge MAY be charged".
Anyway, I decided to dine it because I like dowsing my chips in salt and vinegar.
All their chips are fried to order because you can see a big strainer of chips by the fryer.
I only had the chips because I wanted see how good their chips was so I had the small.
When they arrived, there was a lovely chips smell as well as a fishy aroma which gives it that delicious authentic chippie taste.
The colour was perfectly blonde with no browning and veins and chip size was uniform with a few super long ones.
Good chips are when it soaks the salt and vinegar and gives that moreish salt and vinegar kick followed by a silky potato centre which almost melts into a silky potato liquid in your mouth!
Overall, it was good but the exterior of the chip was a bit dry with a chew like wafers that had gone off but I believe it was because the chips got dehydrated sitting in the strainer until it was ordered to be fried.
Hang Heung 恆香老婆餅 is an old school brand where wife cakes come to mind but now they even have lava mooncakes!!! For mid autumn festival, they have a range of mooncakes to offer. The one that impressed me the most was the award winning lava mooncake which is a pleasure to eat. (HKD338, early bird HKD198 until Aug 22)
Then there is the traditional mooncake which comes in a luxurious tin.
