Manzes Pie And Mash Shop Sutton review

M.Manze is a must visit for pie mash!
There are three branches of Manzes but since Peckham was far away and there are too many distractions in London so I went to Sutton.
As a foodie I am trying to dine at all the pie and mash shops in London because I just love pie and mash.

Pie and mash originates from East London where they serve Pie, mash and eel.
On this visit, I just had the pie mash so next time I shall return for the jellied eels because I am addicted to the jelly which is heaven when you put lashings of vinegar and pepper on it.

As I was late due to the traffic I only had a pie and liquor to be quick.
Normally I have the regular beef pie but since they had the vegan soya mince version I decided to have that instead because not all pie mash shops have a vegetarian version.

Adding salt, white pepper and chili vinegar makes the pie really moreish because it makes the pastry more flavourful.
The white pepper really takes it to the next level when it is mixed with the liquor and vinegar.
Although the soya mince doesn't have much flavour but once you add the condiments everything goes together perfectly.
I am so glad that pie mash is one of the things that is traditionally served with white pepper because chefs don't use white pepper these days, they all use black pepper which is so different.
Black pepper is nice but white pepper shouldn't be forgotten just like delicious pie mash.
The only thing I didn't like were the plants with deliveroo on it because it just ruined the traditional appearance of Manze.
I understand they deliver for them but perhaps they are too modern and just don't look good together.

[Restaurant Reviews] KFC Bargain Bucket

A while ago KFC was doing this Tuesday special offer for £5.99 where you get 9 pieces of chicken.
Since it was an offer, you sadly can't choose which part of the chicken you get.
As I said good fried chicken is always the right timing as well as luck.
Unfortunately, the chicken was a bit dry.

[Restaurant Review] Megan's in the Village , Wimbledon

Megan's is a bustling chain of cafes that you will find plotted in London.
Went there with my cousin and we got a takeout because it was quite busy.
The food choices at Megan's was quite impressive from decent cakes to savoury bites.
As it was lunch, I got the sausage brioche and had it toasted because they asked if I wanted it toasted.
I must admit I am not a fan of brioche buns because they are soft and sweet but toasting them took it to another level.
The brioche bun was light and airy while the sausage in the middle was filling.
There was generous amounts of sweet onions in it which I found too sweet overall it was good.

[Restaurant Review] African Delicacy Restaurant - Moimoi

This restaurant used to be Don's Cafe but now it is African Delicacy Restaurant.
I think ADR has been in Croydon for a while because it does come up on google.
It offers the usual fare like Jollof rice, moimoi, okra soup etc.
As I have already tried Jollof rice and okra soup elsewhere I went for the moimoi.
Moimoi is a Nigerian steamed pudding made from black-eyed peas, red peppers that give it that the colour and onions.
It has a lovely flavour owing to Crayfish according to youtube videos and they also put boiled egg in it but the one at ADR did not have egg or perhaps egg is optional.

I knew I was going to like moimoi because I love crayfish.
The moimoi at ADR did not disappoint because it was really tasty and you could really taste the umami from the seafood.
The texture was soft and similar to pureed food so it was comforting.
Somehow I could taste crab but I am not sure but anyhow it was delicious and tastier than the Chinese version.
There is a similar pudding in Hong Kong with black eye peas where they add five spice powder and preserved sausage.
For the mains, I had the Swallow meal which came with pounded yam which is always eaten with soups.
The pounded yam is similar to mashed potato but thick and stickier which helps to fill you up like potatoes and rice.
So for the soups, I believe I had the ogbono and eforiro soup.
Both were tasty but in different ways. I liked the ogbono because it is slimey so when you put the pounded yam, the soup hangs well.
The eforiro soup was like sharp tomato soup with spinach and spices, another comforting thing to eat on a cold day.
To finish, I had the sweet dumplings which was similar to a Chinese donut but miles better because it was not too sweet and the texture was springy.
The Chinese donut is much bigger but too airy and eggy inside so the Sweet dumpling is much nicer as well as English donuts.

[Restaurant Review] Morrisons Cafe in Sutton

For those who don't live in the UK, Morrrisons is a big chain of supermarkets where they a cafeteria at the bigger branches.

I visited the cafe at Morrisons in Sutton after lockdown when a limited menu was offered.

The cafe was not in its usual glory but we stopped by for some tea.

It was definitely a good experience because I love tea and it is always better dining out.

Overall, everything was satisfactory.
