A law abiding creaminal that does offend

Creaminal Treats (Central)

The name CREAMINAL was really interesting so I just had to check it out.

It is located on Aberdeen Road where Bologne used to be and right next to Levain.

At first I thought it was solely a cake shop.
Upon entering, I realized you can have the cakes there and they sell drinks too.

The theme of the shop is really good, it reminds me of Sherlock Holmes and they have used the criminal theme applied to cakes which is why they are called CREAMINAL.

On the walls, there are really nice illustrations of criminals merged into cupcakes.

It would be good if all their cakes were named to match each criminal illustration on the wall because I couldn't find the one for S'more and Banoffee.

So far there are eight official characters with illustrations:

1)Ms. White, a vanilla cupcake with buttercream frosting
2)Dr. Black kills who dissects with a scalpel.
A chocolate cupcake with choc ganache frosting
3)Mr. RV, a red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting
4)Ms. Karma, a caramel cupcake with whipped cream!
5)The Associate, a mocha cupcake with whipped cream frosting
6)The Italian, a tiramisu cupcake with cream cheese frosting
7)The Monster a Cookie & Cream cupcake
8)Ms. Pink, a strawberry with whipped cream cupcake

At the back, there is board with height markings where you can take mug shots which is cute.

The toilets each have a female and male criminal picture too.

There was a good American cake selection.

I was having trouble deciding between the S'mores (marshmallow) and the The Pink (Strawberry and cream).
In the end I got The Pink because I have tried S'mores at KISSES and The Pink was fresh strawberries and not artificial strawberry flavouring.

THE PINK:

I only had a cake because I just had a heavy lunch.
The Pink is basically vanilla cake filled with fresh strawberries, frosted with whipped cream.
Tried some of the cream on it's own first and it was sweet.

Inside the cupcake, there was some fresh strawberries as stated but not that much but enough to give the cake an overall strawberry flavour.
The cake was delicious with the whipped cream because it was just like having a Victoria sponge and strawberries and cream at the same time.
The sweetness of the cake was not too sweet which was perfect.

Out of this world restaurant

Salon Number 10 (Central)

I have always been curious about this place and never knew it was a restaurant because I've always thought it was a funky residential house.

From the outside, it looks like an old retro TV.
Inside, you could imagine you were in a yellow submarine!

Found out about this place after I read some tasting reviews and decided I had to check it out for the food and the environment.

On openrice, it was listed as Chez moi before Salon 10 tookover and the food and decor seemed a waste.

The new style really suits its original design and the front of the restaurant with a bookshelf, stuffed peacock and other antique items.

When I found out that you could eat here, I decided to dine here and the food was not the ordinary two course, three course menu.
I found it interesting because there were some Southern American items which I have not tried before.

Here was what I tried:
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fried green tomatoes:
colossal lump crab, spicy greens, green goddess dressing

I had to try this because I don't know any other restaurants that serve it.
In the UK we don't have this dish and I recently found out reading some American news that an inmate on deathrow requested this for his last meal.
{On the topic of deathrow, see the toilet below!}
I loved the crunchy light cornmeal coating and the green tomato was juicy.
The salad that came with it was delicious paired with the green goddess dressing.
It was nice that it came with crabmeat which was fresh and there was quite a lot of it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Salt market fish peppers:
piquillo peppers, brandada, Italian salsa verde

It was amazing how these piquillo peppers were peeled skinless and still plump with a smooth surface.

There was generous herbs dressing drizzled on top.

Inside this juicy pepper was the silkiest grounded fish you could ever taste which complemented each other so nicely enhanced by the dressing.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Too rich rum chocolate pudding:

This was chocolate pudding topped with Citrus cream.

The chocolate pudding was dreamily delicious but the orange cream ruined it for me because it tasted artificial and tasted like orange aromatherapy oil mixed with cream.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Now that I have talked about the food, I can safely move on to the toilet!
A really nice toilet you must check out!

The toilet looks a bit like a gothic church deathrow electric chair.

Anyway, I hope to see more items on the menu.
There were two dishes I really wanted to try from on Foodcraver tasting event: fish with parpadelle and the fried chicken but they were not available that day.

Pacific coffee with a Chinese twist!

I didn't realize this branch was new but I liked it because it was different.

While I was there I tried the Babychoccino

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Babychoccino:

Babychoccino next to a tall sized drink.

Babychoccino is steamed milk with chocolate.
The taste was very milky with a hint of chocolate and it is warm on the top and gets colder nearer the bottom.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Nice front with a sitting out area.

Modern side:

Interesting Chinese things.

Singapore's Cedele now in Hong Kong

I discovered this by chance because I was early in the area for a tasting.

At first it looked like a modern cafe with salads and sandwiches at the entrance, and cakes on the other side of the cabinet.

As I had a tasting, I decided to go for something light so tried the cakes.

I was delighted to see lots of pandan flavoured cakes, which made me realize it was Singaporean.
A nice addition to the market because Toast box and BreadTalk are getting boring.

The dining area was quite nice.

The staff there were really nice and spoke American English and you would expect a truly Singaporean brand to speak fluent English or at least Singlish because this is their native language.
It surprises me that Singapore has better English speakers and Western brands than Hong Kong because Hong Kong is more internationally well known but lacks good fluent English speakers.
The GDP of Singapore is overtaking Hong Kong over these few years.

Back to the delicious cakes!!

I ordered the Pandan cake and the Pistachio and chocolate cake.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pandan cake $40/slice:

Description from the label:
natural pandan sponge cake sandwiched between own made egg custard, pandan frosting finished with fragrant coconut shreds. Unrefined sugar and grapeseed oil used.

This was the first pandan cake I have tried, the ones I have tried before were the chiffon ones which were not as fancy as this.
The cake had a lovely strong taste and smell of pandan.
In the middle the kaya paste and the coconut shreds topping on top made it more coconutty.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chocolate pistachio cake:

Description from the label:
Chocolate truffle layered with soft pandan cake, topped with pistachios.

This cake was too heavy for my liking because the chocolate truffle layers were strong and dense so it felt like eating a bar of dark chocolate.
Although it was too strong, it was nice that it was not too sweet.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
After trying the cakes, I went back for the Christmas Pandan logcake and the cheese scallion scone to take away.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Christmas Pandan logcake:

Description from the label:
Soft and moist pandan logcake.

The box for the cake was really nice and sturdy.

Compared to the Pandan cake above, there was more proportion of pandan buttercream in the middle and less of the cake.
Overall, I felt that the pandan cake tasted better because it was more satisfying.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cheese scallion scone:

Description from the label:
Savory scone filled with spring onions and cheddar cheese, recommended with soup.

Although I did not have it reheated, it tasted amazing.
It would have been divine if it had been warm because the abundance of spring onions in it made it moist and flavoursome and the cheddar cheese was lovely and cheesy.

Well hidden cake shop

Hoixe Cake Shop (Tseung Kwan O)

This cake shop is the smallest branch of Hoixe I have ever seen.
It is hidden on the corner near Saizeriya.

Anyway, it is brightly lit and new compared to the other branches.

The chocolate roll looked attractive so bought that for $9.5.

The taste of the chocolate roll was quite nice and not too sweet but the chocolate cream and jelly in the middle was a bit heavy and artificial.

Overall the staff at this branch was helpful and friendly.
