Shop: Bake&Bite
I rarely go to the North end of Prince Edwards, so this time I gathered 3-4 places I wanted to try around that area:
Lan Yuen Chee Koon, Roadside, Bake & Bite and Ueno Bakery & Enzyme.
I planned this eating spree because of this place and Roadside for Western food.
There are not many choices for good Western food in the Mong Kok area.
I was attracted to this place because of the cheesy toast and pies.
This joint is located on the busy main road with lots of air pollution and smokers and the bad thing about this joint is that there is seating so you need to find a place in MK to eat it!
There is a sitting area round the corner but it is also a pissing corner for people to piss.
Interesting sandwich (NOT)
It has Cheese, JAM and ham! (sounds American)
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Toastie with swiss cheese and liver sausage:
Basically you choose a bread, choose a cheese and choose a filling.
You can add extra cheese for $3 I think.
I was quite annoyed because I tried to add extra cheese but they only let you add the same cheese you chose which is not flexible.
For the choice of cheese there was cheddar, Swiss and Monterrey jack.
The liver sausage was interesting which was why I tried it but ideally ham would be a better match with cheese.
The toastie was actually quite delicious and the liver sausage had herbs in it.
I just wish for improvements they could let you choose a different cheese when you order the double cheese because all they do is put the cheese slices in the sandwich and toast it.
So what difference does it make having two different slices of cheese or two slices of the same cheese because all they do is toast it.
Its not going to mess up their toaster!!!!!!!!!!!Time for me make my own with a Breville toaster!!!!!!

Lemon Tea:
Too sweet and syrupy!

Sweet donuts filled with sweet fillings

甜心冬甩 (Mong Kok)
甜心冬甩 (Mong Kok)
I have always wanted to try these donuts because they looked similar to Princess donuts (which is now out of business) and the pon da rings sold at Das gute.
It is located in the Argyle Centre which is slightly inconvenient for me.
Argyle centre is constantly packed with teens and girls which makes it difficult to get around in the hustle and bustle.
Anyway finally found their stall in the midst of the crowd.
The donuts were neatly stacked behind the glass cabinet and there were so many cute donuts.
The prices of these donuts were quite cheap too ranging from $8.5-$12.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Hazelnut filled donut:
I was expecting the texture of these donuts to be similar to Pon Da Rings which would be slightly chewy and mochi like but they were similar to cake.
Since all of these donuts were really uniform in size and shape, I believe they were made in donut makers similar to the ones that make waffles and eggettes.
The hazelnut one was sliced through the middle with delicious hazelnut cream filling.
The donut tasted really nice but it just tasted like a chocolate cake filled with hazelnut cream filling in a shape of a donut.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Apart from this flavour, there were also other fun flavours filled with: custard, ferrero rocher, sesame green tea custard and more please check their website.
{Unfortunately due to violations every time I publish a website address, my review gets reported, so you will have to google it!}
Some were glazed with icing and they had some pon de ring shaped donuts as well which were filled or had icing on top.

Pistachio world @ Lan Yuen Chee Koon
Shop: Lan Yuen Chee Koon (Prince Edward)
I rarely go to the North end of Prince Edwards, so this time I gathered 3-4 places I wanted to try around that area:
Lan Yuen Chee Koon, Roadside, Bake & Bite and Ueno Bakery & Enzyme.
This was the last on the list to visit because it was for desserts.
The main dessert I came for was the grounded pistachio dessert.
As well as desserts they are famous for noodles and other cooked dishes.
The menu is quite historic with wooden covers!
The puddings and drinks are located in a refridgerated cabinet by the entrance.
Interesting sauce!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Grounded pistachio dessert:
When I ordered the grounded pistachio dessert they said there was only half a portion left but since this was the only item I came for, it was really lucky I could pay half price for half a portion.
Although she said there was only half a bowl, there was more than half in there.
The colour does not look appealing but it was really really delicious.
I was surprised how smooth and runny it was!!!!
The sweetness was just right and you could really taste the pistachios in it which had a slight savoury taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pistachio pudding:
This was also nice too but in pudding form!
It is also a must eat item as well because not many places offer this.

Farewell North Point's Yat Woon Min
My last meal at Yat Woon Min, Au Revoir Mar 27, 2013
Yat Woon Min (North Point)
Tried this place one last time before they open at a new location.
I tried more items that day then I ever did before!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Carbonated lime drink:
The lime juice was mixed with soda water, however the lime was not strong enough.
I think I needed more lime.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Julienne vegetables:
The vegetables were nice and sweet with a tad of spicyness from the dried tofu shreds.
It was a nice mix of yellow peppers, green peppers, red peppers, beanshoots sprinkled with sesame.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Beef cheeks:
Soft and tender lean beef chunks.
Yummy!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Spicy black fungas and Chinese radish:
The spicyness was quite mild but it was flavoured with sichuan peppercorns which slowly numbs your tongue.
The chinese radish in this was nice and sweet.

Cute danish slices
Cute mini Danish slices @ La Rose Noire Bakery Mar 27, 2013
La Rose Noire Bakery (Central)
Got my favourite Danish pastries from La Rose Bakery.
This time they had slices which are smaller so I chose two.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Blueberry danish:
A perfectly baked danish with sweet custard and blueberries on top.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Strawberry and peach danish:
The strawberry and peach danish tasted better than the blueberry because the tartness of the strawberries and the sweetness of the peach were a great pairing together along with the sweet smooth custard.

Matcha YoYo
Sinmei's Matcha Yo-Yo Mar 27, 2013
Sinmei Tea (Sheung Wan)
Thank you IVYCWK for getting me this delicious Matcha Yoyo from Sinmei Tea House.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Matcha Yo-Yo:
A Yo-Yo is an Australian biscuit a bit like a cookie and a shortbread with filling in the middle.
The filling inside this Yo-Yo tasted like fresh green tea icing which crumbled nicely between the buttery tasting layers of the Yo-Yo.
Each Yo-Yo is decorated with dried green tea leaves on the top.
The green tea taste in the filling could be stronger because it was quite sweet.

Blended strawberry & apple juice @ Mr Fruit
Mr Fruit (San Po Kong)
During the winter, this Juice bar serves hot Chinese soup.
The logo and decor is quite attractive with white fonts and sliced fruits that represent the DOTS.
Ordered the Freshly blended Strawberry and apple juice.
They tried to recommend the Asian Pear and strawberry but I do not like Asian pears so I stuck to my choice.
☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Apple and strawberry juice:
The colour of this blended juice was quite nice, it was redder than my expectation.
They CLAIM that it is unsweetened but you can actually taste syrup in it.
Despite the fact they claim it is unsweetened, they still put a tiny amount so that it does not taste so sour in the bid that the customers will come back.
Overall the taste was quite nice but I did not like the artificial sweetness.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Next time I will probably try the blueberry and apple or another combination.
