Porks trotter in vinegar:
I have always wanted to try this place but I did not know what it is called.
Just happened to walk past it because the place I was going to go did not have boiled pork brains.
This place is famous for skewers of vinegared pork knuckles. however when I got mine they were placed in a bowl.
They were extremely difficult to eat using two thin skewers so I gave up eating them.
The parts that I could eat were lovely, soft and sticky.
The vinegar they used was lovely and sour.

Porks trotter in vinegar near the roundabout
A big disappointment with Roadside
Shop: Roadside (Prince Edward)
I rarely go to the North end of Prince Edwards, so this time I gathered 3-4 places I wanted to try around that area:
Lan Yuen Chee Koon, Roadside, Bake & Bite and Ueno Bakery & Enzyme.
This was the first shop on my list because it was the closest to the MTR exit.
However it was 3.15 and it had still not opened so I went to Bake & Bite first.
[Their opening hours are from 3pm]
After eating at Bake & Bite, this shop was finally open!
I did not appreciate the loudspeaker pumping loud music right above the ordering counter because it was hard to order food.
It was so loud you could hear it across the road.
This was the shop that actually made me come to Prince Edwards because of all the Western snacks.
I was really looking forward to this place and was really disappointed by this place because I wanted to order the curry lamb pie, scotch egg and the salted pork knuckles as shown on their Facebook page.
A different menu when I got there
So I ended up ordering fish and chips and Dover fish bites.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fish and potato wedges:
I was expecting fish and chips as shown on their Facebook page, but it was potato wedges.
The fish had been marinated for too long and it was too salty.
The batter was too thick.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Dover Fish bites:
These were pieces of fish coated in breadcrumbs.
Initially it was nice but a lot of it was drizzled with sweet sauce so I did not like it.
It was also very salty.
I can't quite correlate the name with Dover because in Dover (in the South East of UK) they don't do this snack and the fish was not dover sole either.

Walnut rice milk with pine nuts
Shop: 85C
The Walnut rice milk was so delicious I went back for it again.
I ordered the cold one because you can also have it hot.
This time it was served in a paper cup.
The lid was nice and interesting.
When you open the stopper, there is foil on the hole which is quite hygienic.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Walnut rice milk with pine nuts:
The walnut drink was really nice and creamy.
It was quite thick too with finely grounded pieces of rice, walnut and pinenuts.
I really recommend ordering this drink.

Crispy seaweed salmon rolls
Shop: Sushi Take Out
Went to Sushi Take Out to get some sushi for later and saw these interesting long rolls.
Went to Sushi Take Out to get some sushi for later and saw these interesting long rolls.
Usually they are sliced into smaller rolls but there were three long ones inside the box.
The Hang Hau branch is quite small but there is a mini sushi factory behind the window.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Crispy seaweed salmon rolls:
When I took them out I assumed they were already wrapped, but the seaweed sheet was separated from the rice.
You have to remove the film and roll it yourself.
The design is so that the seaweed is crispy when you eat it.
They reminded me of the hand rolls at the local convenience stores where you remove the plastic and wrap the seaweed on the rice.
Anyway the salmon rolls tasted really nice especially since the seaweed was crispy, after adding soy sauce and wasabi it tasted even better.

Fishballs @ Chan Kee
Shop: 陳記魚蛋 (Wan Chai)
During non public holidays I would not consider this stall at all because it is always surrounded by people but as it was a public holiday that day, there was not many people getting snacks from there.
There were two snack stalls on that road, this one and the eggette stall which also serves beef offal.
The beef offal looked a bit bland so I chose this place.
Initially I just ordered the beancurd skin puffs but then the fishballs looked nice so I got an extra skewer of them which were placed on top of the beancurd skin puffs.
There are three curry sauces: non spicy, mild and hot.
While I was eating the first cup I looked at the name of this place and realised they were famous for fishballs which was lucky because I tried them as well.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Beancurd skin puffs + fisballs with non spicy curry sauce:
The fishballs were quite small and they did not have grounded fish bones in it which was good.
They were firm and quite al-dente but the fish taste was not that strong.
The beancurd skin puffs were a bit too oily and the curry sauce ruined everything because it just tasted sweet just like curry syrup.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fishballs with mild curry sauce:
The fish balls were nice so I got another skewer this time trying the spicier sauce.
Again it was sweet with a spicy tone to it.

Frankly portion size varies with different people
Shop: The Frank (Admiralty)
Went to get froyo again at The Frank because they serve froyo from yo mama as well.
Had the hazelnut first and felt like having more so got the green tea froyo.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Hazelnut froyo with ginger mochi:
My first cup of froyo was good because it was my favourite hazelnut flavour, it was thick and creamy with strong hazelnut taste.
The mochi was good as well, it was soft and chewy with a hint of ginger.
The ginger mochi is slightly brown in colour.
The above was served by the female staff.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Green tea froyo with plain mochi:
After the lovely froyo I decided to get another cup but this time I chose Green Tea.
It was served by the guy and he gave me so much more froyo than the stingy girl.
Anyway, the green tea did not taste as nice as the hazelnut because the milky flavour tasted a bit off.
The mochi on the other hand was good.

Corned beef and sauerkraut in Rye bun
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Corned beef and sauerkraut in Rye bun:
Got this bun because of the corned beef but when I took a look inside I realised it was American corned beef so was a bit disappointed.
However the rest of the bun tasted nice and the corned beef just tasted like meatier ham balanced out by the mustard and sauerkraut in the bun.
The cheese in the bun made it slightly heavy and the cheese overpowered the sauerkraut.
After eating the bun I felt quite thirsty.
