Venturing for more Indonesian delights @ Padong

Padang Indonesia Restaurant (Causeway Bay)

Last time tried some really nice Indonesian style sweets so came back for more.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Lapis legit buah plum:

In Indonesia, the layer cake is very popularly and its name lapis legit means very rich layers.
It certainly is rich because it contains up to thirty egg yolks, 500g of butter and 400g of sugar for a cake of size 20 x 20 cm.
The layer cake is freshly made at this restaurant and its texture is much softer than the vacumn sealed ready made ones. It is not as oily as the pre-packed one.
I got this because it contains plum, the standard ones sold at Indonesian markets are just pandan or coffee flavoured.
The taste of this was light with chewy pieces of plum in the middle and the sweetness was just right.

Getuk pandan durian:

The durian taste was a bit weird and the pandan taste was faint.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
lapis surabaya:

This was a different type of layered cake with chocolate layers and vanilla layers, but the chocolate tasted like coffee and there was no chocolate taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Bika Ambon Pandan:

The pandan taste was not strong enough.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Ketan srikaya:

This was quite sweet and the glutinous rice was a bit heavy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Overall my favourite items are the black glutinous rice cake with pandan and the plum layered cake.

Mint chocolate Easter Egg and pate

A cooling and soothing Easter Egg Mar 23, 2013
Marks & Spencer Fresh Bakery (Wan Chai)
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Scottish mackerel pate:

~smooth pate with soft cheese and a hint of horseradish~
This is my favourite spread for bread so I got it, it was creamy with lots of grounded mackerel.
The taste of soft cheese was light and the horseradish acted as pepper and balanced out the fishy taste of the mackerel.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Bubbly mint truffle egg:

I was purely attracted by the green mint packaging and because it was bubbly chocolate.
It tasted similar to the mint aero but this one was mintier and sweeter.

Prawn burger:
Came back for the prawn burger.

The prawn patty was coated in breadcrumbs, layered with lettuce and drizzled with ketchup.
The bun was delicious with crispy sesame seeds on top.

Overall the prawn burger was nice but the prawn patty did not have much taste.

Lemonade:
The product shot for this looked refreshing and summery so I got it.

I was worried it was going to be really sweet but it turned out to be the opposite!
It was really sour and the lemon taste was really artificial.

Buffet at The Market

green iconic market

The Market (Tsim Sha Tsui)
The decor and interior of this place reminded me to Hotel Elan, it had style and promotes greeness!

They have the hotel name boldly incorporated on a dining table which can be seen from above.

I have always wanted to try this place for their buffets but it is not near the MTR station.

The name THE MARKET is rather unusual, The Market to me is a place with stalls of vegetables, fishes etc at bricklane.

The buffet here was quite good especially the Chicken tikka, Indian curries and rice.

The puddings were served in cute egg cups, my favourite was the honeydew melon jelly but it was slightly too sweet.

Came back for more Rickshaw noodles
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Rickshaw noodles:

As usual I chose vermicelli and tried the marinated quail eggs.
The quail eggs tasted like the packaged ones.
The vermicelli was soft but the broth was not as strong as my previous visit.

Strawberries stingyness

Yumemiya
We dined here because our foodie friend wanted to try the Chocolate rain tea set.

Before we ordered, it was promising to see the tea set that was on the other table next to us had four huge red strawberries (dosnt show 4 strawberries on the photo but I saw four whole strawberries).

Strawberries on another table
However when ours arrived it was two strawberries sliced in half and they argued that they serve strawberries by weight when evidently the other table had much bigger strawberries and whole strawberries too.

our plate!
The taste of the strawberries were nice and sweet.
The texture of the strawberries were much firmer than the usual ones.

We also ordered other stuff, but since we did not get the full portion of strawberries, my review is only featuring half of what we had!
Please refer to the product shot on the Chinese review below and it shows WHOLE strawberries!
