Quick stop for ice cream @ Sorvegal

九記冰室 (Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro)
I was on a food tour and we were taken to this place by No 1 openricer who has written over 7000 reviews and the most reviews on OpenRice and is now a full time blogger.

Initially I thought it was an ordinary Macau cafe but then I realised they served home made icecreams, so Lai Kei Ice Cream is not the only one that serves ice cream.
If we did not stop by today, I would not have known that.

As well as icecreams they serve soda floats and guava juice which is not often served in Hong Kong.

Icecream trio $20:

There were so many flavours so I ordered the not so common ones such as Guava, ginger and taro.
I wanted to order orange and pineapple as well but you could only choose three scoops.
Basically the texture of the icecreams were quite coarse and icy because they were homemade.
In general, they all tasted really good, you could taste real guava fruit and fibre in the guava one and the ginger one was quite milky with a hint of ginger and taro was the best, it was not too sweet and tasted natrual with pieces of taro.

THANKS FOR THE TREAT KC!

Sakura Green Tea with lychee @ Mix

Mix (Wan Chai)
I have always wanted to try MIX but their locations are quite inconvenient.

As I was in the area, I stopped by for a drink.

The restaurant is modern and simple.

I ordered the Sakura green tea with lychee.
The one above it seems interesting too with more fruits.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Sakura green tea with lychee:

The green tea was extremely bitter and the sweet lychees complimented it nicely.
Definately a nice thirst quencher and I hope to try the fruit one soon.

Cute receipt:
On the bottom left hand corner, there is some really tiny print.

It turns out to be a coupon printed so small that you couldnt see it!

Bread pudding @ euro go go

euro go go (Tseung Kwan O)
Went to Euro Go Go for some bread pudding.

After ordering, they asked if I wanted it hot or cold, so I said I wanted it hot.
The receipt they gave me indicates that my bread pudding is to be heated up, but it's funny that the heating instructions to the kitchen is denoted as HOT UP.

Anyway, the bread pudding arrived about 10 minutes later.

Parts of the bread pudding was hot and some parts were still cold.
It was soaked in quite a lot of oil because there was a strong rancid smell which spoilt it.
Otherwise, the taste was reasonably good and not too sweet with hints of cinammon and pieces of raisins in it.

Back for more drinks and cakes @ arome Bake & Drink

arome Bake & Drink 東海堂 (Kowloon Bay)
Previously had a tasting at this branch and when we left, we were given some coupons to get two complimentary drinks and a cake from their newly launched series at this branch only.

Chocolate pudding drink:

On this visit, the chocolate tasted quite powdery but the pudding on the bottom was delicious and eggy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Apple drink with jelly:

Tried this drink because Ivy said that it tasted like Heinz baby apple juice drink.
The acidity was low so it wasnt very sour, and it tasted like sweetened cooked apple puree.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
New drink - kanten jelly and green jasmine tea:

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Jasmine tea and croissant set for $15:

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Melon cake:

The sweetness was just right and the jelly was not too sweet and I appreciated how the standard of this cake has remained the same as the tasting a few months ago.
The pieces of melon were mushy and soft which worked with the type of jelly they used.
In the middle, there was delicious cake and cream to balance it out.

Black sausages but not black pudding

BLACK BRIDGE (Jordan)
Black Bridge is a new shop from Taiwan.

On my first visit I wanted to try their sausages but they were understaffed so I didnt try it.

Thanks to Ivy for getting me some candied ginger and crispy pork crunchies.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Candied ginger:

The ginger was covered in brown sugar and it can be eaten just like that or dissolved in hot water as a drink.
It was quite nice as a candy and the ginger was not that strong, the brown sugar taste was more prominent and fragrant.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Crisp pork jerky:

The pork jerky was extremely thin and were rolled into rolls.

It was wafer thin and crispy just like crackers with lots almond, black sesame and dried shrimps in it.
The taste was sweet and the smell of dried shrimp was strong.

Starbucks Brie and Ham croissant

Starbucks Coffee (Causeway Bay)
Went back for the mocha with the white chocolate pudding and saw the croissant, so got that as well.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Dark Mocha White Chocolate Pudding Frappuccino blended beverage:

The dark mocha did not have strong coffee taste which was great and in the drink there where bits of solid chocolate to chew on.
The white chocolate pudding was nice because it balanced out the mocha taste and it was creamy and tasted like Nestle's milky bar chocolate.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Ham and Brie croissant:
I did not feel like eating meat that day, so I took out the ham, the croissant and the brie alone were delicious, and the brie was creamy and soft.
It would probably taste better heated up.

Maxim's walnut cookies

Thanks to Gary for getting me these Walnut cookies.
Although I have called them walnut cookies, the Chinese seems to say walnut puffs.

The packaging of this is quite modern and looks like a bag of crisps.
Each cookie has a nice texture with buttery taste and crunchy pieces of walnut in it.
