Dreamy Tofu pudding with caramel

Dream Tofa (Central)
Since my last visit, there are so many different sauces for the tofu pudding such as red beans, chocolate, sesame, strawberry etc.

For Chinese tastebuds, they are probably going to pick red beans or sesame but for Western tastebuds, there are quite a few good choices to choose from including caramel.

The caramel and tofu pudding definitely go together because it is just like caramel milk pudding but the milk has been replaced with soymilk.

Tofu pudding with caramel:

It was definitely a good pairing, smooth silky tofu and the sweet caramel sauce which was a bit watery.
I was expecting thick caramel sauce but it turns out to be caramel syrup.

Very welcoming indeed at Thai Niyom Restaurant

Thai Niyom Restaurant (Quarry Bay)
I ended up going here because the Indonesian joint nearby sold out of the stuff I wanted to eat.

This area is famous because Transformers 4 film crew were harassed for an extortion fee at this residential block!

The menu had English which was surprising.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Wintermelon soup:

It was just the standard Wintermelon soup served in Thai joints with the usual chicken taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
hainan style chicken with yellow rice:

It was pure white meat which was good because there were less bones and the rice was soft and fragrant with a strong coconut taste which you could smell.
As for the chicken, it was soft and fresh.

Chicken Tikka masala at M&S Café (Tai Koo)

Went to Marks and Spencers for some curry.
After ordering the food I was given a number and they brought over the food.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chicken Tikka masala with rice and naan:

As expected it was delicious and better than my expectations because the chicken was still soft and tender after it was reheated even though it was white meat and the chutney was gorgeous because it was slightly sweet with a tart mango taste.
After mixing the rice, masala sauce and chutney everything just tasted bliss.
The naan is slightly different to the ones you get in Indian restaurants because it was thick and soft.

Autumn series at A1 Bakery

Discovered a new branch of A-1 Bakery so took a look.
The apple pie looked delicious so decided to get one.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Apple pie:

The apple pie looked good but unfortunately it didn't taste that good because the pastry was dense and not flakey.
The filling was too sweet as well.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Sweet purple potato puff:

The puff fared better because the cream was good and unsweetened and the sweet potato puree was velvety and tasted natrual.
The weird thing that ruined it was the chocolate sponge cake in the middle because cream puffs are not meant to have cake in the middle!

Vegetarian lunch at Isoya Japanese Vegetarian Restaurant

I went to Isoya because I saw photos of the Lime noodles posted by LLWL who is a passionate food lover.

To be honest, I have not tried the upstairs restaurants on Wan Chai Road and there are lots of potentially good restaurants on that road.

The lifts were impressively fast and there was a cute ginger cat at the entrance of that building.

It was nice and relaxing at the restaurant.

I was given hot tea when I sat down.

I tried the set lunch which costs $98 with a main and three side dishes.
Unfortunately two of the sides I wanted were not available because they change every day but the sides I had tasted good.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Spongy tofu:

The tofu was fun to eat because it was exactly like a sponge, if you dip it in sauce, you can see the liquid being absorbed into it, so when you ate it, the liquid all comes out when you chew it.
It had this strange sweet cake taste in it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Egg and potato salad:

It was a nice down to earth salad that was not cloyingly sweet with a delicious strong potato taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Panfried gyozas:

There was not much filling in it but they were creative ingredients such as beancurd skin and burdock which tasted nice.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Lime noodles:

I loved these chilled noodles but the lime was not strong enough by my standards so I requested for more which improved it because I love the acidic taste.
[However comparing this photo to LL's there are less slices here]
The noodles were extremely fine, soft and silky flavoure by the delicious refreshing cold soup and the umami taste of the dried laver shreds.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Dessert:
This was icecream mochi but it was those standard ones where they source from external suppliers and it was mango which I am not fond of.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

After I finished I felt quite full but when I got downstairs I was feeling a little hungry!

Theatre of tapas by Pedro Sampler

The Tapa showcase begins with Chef Pedro Samper of the Basque Country whizzing his magic in the open bar kitchen.

If you think this is good, there is CUATRO MANOS - TWO CHEFS~~ 8 tapa menu from the creative minds of Pedro Samper and Jordi Valles of Catalunya. Available on the 17th and 18th September for $560 with 10% service charge on top.

Here was our personalised Theatre of tapas prepared by Chef Pedro Samper.

Each tapas was like an act from plays with different scenes.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
First act: Los Aperitvos
Watermelon sangria

The watermelon was so refreshing with sangria infused in it, the melon had sweeter tones.
It oozed out with alcoholic infused juices when you ate them tasting like sangria.

Olives, anchovies and Vermouth

Delicious big olives soaked in Vermouth which were juicy with a salty touch from anchovies and a bitter kick from the Vermouth.

Pistachio, foie gras and mango lollipops

The foie gras was extremely silky covered in delicious crushed pistachio which had a nutty and buttery taste.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Second Act: Las Verduras y Mariscos
Red prawn carpaccio, ajoblanco, apple and pine nuts

This was amazing, the red prawns have a strong unami lobster prawn taste and it was visually stunning to watch Pedro patiently garnish it with passion.

Cucumber, king crab, sour cream, capers

Next was the cucumber which looked like a caterpiller filled with fresh crab with a creamy taste.

Marinated salmon and hokkaido scallop ceviche, avocado egg and crab caviar
This was wonderful and simple.

Lobster, spanish ox heart tomato, fresh almonds, gazpacho

The gazpacho was refreshing and had a pretty shade of blush orange.

The lobster chunks were fresh and meaty.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Third actL La Tierra
-xixa hori – chantarelles, 63 degree C egg, potato and black truffle

This was sensational because eggs and mushrooms are always great together especially the runny yolk mixed with the mushrooms and a luxurious hint of black truffle.

24 hour slow cooked ox tail, celery root, green peas, smoked eggplant
The ox tail looked interesting because it was shaped into a block yet the texture was soft and effortless to eat.

free range chicken stuffed with prunes, bacon and shiitake mushrooms
This reminded me of Christmas with turkey, bacon and cranberries.

The chicken was gorgeous with appetizing prunes and smokey bacon.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
fourth act: la fiest
Mojito and white peach

I loved the refreshing slush at the bottom which was sweet and soothing and the peach sorbet on top was fragrant.

Torrija and orange

This was my favourite because the blood orange sorbet had a really strong citrus flavour and the Torrija was soft and sweet dusted in delicious cinammon sugar.

Coffee, chocolate and baileys
These were huge pieces of chocolate with velvety filling shaped like a huge coffee bean.
A great ending to dinner with hot tea.
