Coconut with red rice gelato at 2/3 Dolci (Central)

I was in Central again and wandered by because I had nothing to do.
Unfortunately, I spotted a new flavour which was really enticing so I had to give it a try!

It was coconut with red rice.

I do not really like coconut but I tried their sample which was quite pleasing so I decided to get a scoop.

Coconut with red rice gelato:

The gelato was smooth and sticky with hard and chewy grains of red rice which was delightful and the coconut flavour was subtle and not too creamy.
This was definitely a nice flavour and I was glad I got it.

Jashan Saturday lunch buffet

I love curries so went here for the lunch buffet.
On Saturdays the lunch buffet is basic whereas the Sunday brunch as an option for free flow wine as well.

I was satisfied with the Saturday buffet because it had my favourite Indian rices, curries and freshly made naan.
One of the curries reminded me of the curries in the UK.
It was spinach and potatoes with fenugreek which had an aromatic flavour and the potatoes were tasty.

The bill came to $129.8

Best of the both worlds at Churros Twist (Wan Chai)

At the Churros twist you can get the best of boths worlds with Spanish Churros with Australian dairy frozen yogurt and Australian soft serve.

However, it would be great if they answered their phones though.

As the pavement on Wan Chai Road is pathetically narrow it does now allow people to stop when they are walking so unless you are on the opposite side, you won't really be able to spot it.

Finally found it and the doors are sliding ones even though they look like push/pull ones.

Basically your are greeted with pink and blue.

The colour and format of the menu looks exactly like the one at Yo Mama.

Anyway, the lady at the cashier could have been friendlier but the boss was really nice.

Caramel sauce with salted caramel soft serve and churros:

The salted caramel was actually quite nice with a decent sweet caramel taste but I couldn't quite taste the salt.
It was slightly watery at the bottom.
As for the churros, they were chunky and quite hard with a slight soft centre and a mild frying oil taste.

creamy spinach at Sooo Vegi (North Point)

I have always wanted to try this dish but it is always sold out because they keep little in stock because it is made with dairy products .

There are now two branches and this branch was nearer the MTR so went here.

Creamy spinach, sweetcorn and mushroom with rice:

It was supposed to come with pasta but I wanted to have rice instead.
The sauce was lovely and creamy balanced by the sweetness of the sweetcorns and the spinach leaves were young and green.
I think it would taste better with a dash of white pepper.

Seafood at Tuen Mun's seafood street

When it comes to seafood, Sai Kung springs into mind but there are actually lots of other places that have great seafood such as Tuen Mun and Lei Yue Mun.

This time we ventured into Tuen Mun's Seafood Thai 泰海鮮.

++++++++++++++++
Here is the latest episode of 食得招積 that was filmed there and what we tried.

++++++++++++++++
青山灣芝士焗龍蝦。
Baked Castle peak bay lobster with cheese

The lobster was fantastic because there was a fragrant cheese smell when it was served and the surface was golden and crispy.
It was a gorgeous layer of cheese on top with meaty lobster beneath it, the cheese was divine because the texture was firm but not gooey which made it appetizing without being too heavy.

避風塘炒蟹
Typhoon shelter crab

Next we had the Typhoon shelter which is a signiature dish in most seafood restaurants.
The crab was fresh infused with delicious fried garlic and chili flavour, whilst the crispy pieces of garlic complemented the crabmeat nicely.

白酒忌廉煮花甲
Clams cooked in creamy wine sauce

The clams were cooked in a delicious cream and white wine sauce which was Chinese and Vietnamese fusion with herbs and onions.
Each clam was fully flavoured and creamy balanced by the sweet onions and herbs.

Random visit to Home's Kitchen (Quarry Bay)

Came here because it was empty.

According to the menu, there are two dishes which are exactly the same as Hung don don, after asking the staff, they said the Chef used to work there.
Perhaps Quarry Bay is a place full of competition as there are more people to restaurants ratio hence the same dishes everywhere.

For me I prefer variety.

Anyway, I could not find this shop listed on openrice because on the menu it says "Home" but it is listed as Home's kitchen.

Instant noodles with cheese sauce with fried chicken leg and egg:

When it arrived, it looked like the chicken had been in an explosion with the skin blasted and ripped exposing the flesh!!!!!
The fried egg was rubbery and the cheese sauce was not cheese sauce, it was just a milky sauce with salt added which is how the Chinese perceive cheese.

Curry with fried squid tentacles at CoCo Ichibanya

Came here because of the new Fried squid leg with curry which I think is meant to be fried squid tentacles with curry.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Curry with fried squid tentacles:
Overall the curry was really good because the curries here are quite consistent in standard.
The curry was served pretty quickly but I suppose the curry sauce is heated and ready in a big pot.

The fried squid tentacles were quite nice because the frying oil was fresh.
Some of the tentacles were rather chewy but evenly fried that it had a nice crispy texture.
The squid was really nice because you could still taste it unlike quick frozen squids.
