Not often can you find a restaurant with GREAT FOOD and a GREAT VIEW.
Here you have both provided that you like French food with talents from Mandarin's Amber.

Here was what we had that night.
Bread basket:
There was an assortment of brioche, Foccacia and Baguette slices.
☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Ganzpacho:
We had refreshing cold melon soup which was really appetizing with tomatoes in it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Scallop carpaccio:
Hokkaido scallop carpaccio, celery fennel cucumber, passionfruit and lime dressing.
The refreshing soup was followed by more tantalizing scallop carpaccio which was dressed in a summery concoction of passionfruit and lime dressing.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fresh smoked salmon:
Next was the fresh 42 degrees Celcius smoked salmon with smoked caviar, cucumber apple salad and pistou.
The salmon was amazing, it was silky and soft that it melted in your mouth complemented by the saltiness of the caviar.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Mushroom tea:
Mushroom consomme with poached morel, porcini and spinach.
The soup was good because you are normally served creamy blended soups and this broth was healthy with a strong earthy mushroom taste and the finely chopped spinach strands enhanced the presenation of the soup.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Roasted pigeon:
Roasted pigeon breast and confit leg with spinach, cherry and hazelnut oil salad
The pigeon was the best pigeon I have ever tasted especially the pigeon breast because it was sweet and juicy and I loved the tender spinach leaves and fresh juicy cherries that went with it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Australian M6 Wagyu striploin:
Wagyu striploin with potato gnocchi in blue cheese cream sauce.
The beef was tender and juicy which went well with the strong tasting gnocchi.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
cheese platter:
It ended perfectly with a cheese platter with a selection of delicious cheeses from mild to strong. There were delicious jams to go with it and Cherry is the best one to choose.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Coffee granite:
There was a choice of panna cotta or the coffee granite.
I chose the coffee granite because they said that the previous comments were good.
It is basically warm chocolate at the bottom, with vanilla cream in the middle topped with crushed expresso ice on top.
Even though I am not a coffee lover, I thought it was amazing because the warm chocolate at the bottom and the cold expresso ice on top infused into a delicious gooey chocolate mocha smoothed out by the vanilla cream in the middle.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Artisan teas:
To finish off, there was an exotic selection of teas from Comptoir Francais du THE.
I chose the earl grey which was a perfect end to the blissful meal.

Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe in Hong Kong
It’s comforting to see Mr Simm's olde sweet shop open in Hong Kong.
Any Brit is going to be delighted because this is a major sweet shop in the UK with a big range of sweets including Pear Drops, Curly Whirlies, Wham Bars, Fruit Salads, Rhubarb & Custards, Fudges, Toffees and yes... Terry's Chocolate Oranges.
Flying saucers
Bootlaces
rhubarb custards, strawberries and cream
coconut mushrooms
Lovely bon bons in many flavours!
Montezuma’s Great British Pudding Bars: Lemon meringue, eton mess, summer pudding and treacle tart.
I used to get these sweets from the local newsagent because there wasn't one nearby.
Anyway, it will be interesting to see everyone's reaction.
Hong Kong can be a disadvantage for sweets because the environment is HOT and HUMID which means they have to be stored in good conditions when the weather is like that.
However it amazes me that many stalls in Hong Kong have drinks and snacks including chocolate in the blazing hot sun and rain.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
In the end I my favourite bon bons and sherbet pips.
I got so many flavours for the bon bon: apple, strawberry and caramel.
They were chewy and soft with a slightly creamy taste.
The sherbet pips had a crunchy exterior with a loose sherbet center.
While I was there I tried black death and that was REALLY SOUR but I loved it because I love acidic sweets!
Anyway, they definitely cost more over here but they're worth it!

Real eggs! Eggshell FOC at 福助居日本料理
Had the scrambled egg with pork cutlet and usually the egg is on a bed of cabbage but here they mixed the egg with shredded lettuce.
The egg was so salty and and it wasn't even scrambled.
The texture of it was like boiled strands of egg when you put egg in hot water.
It was super reassuring to find egg shell in it too because it was reassuring that it was a real egg, but hopefully there was no salmonella or bacteria because people don't wash eggs before they crack them.
Lastly, they prefer people to dine there because takeaways are cheaper.

Cheap but rubbish at Tai Koo's Itacho Sushi
A few years back there were some issues with Itacho Sushi but after a while people forget and return.
Anyway, I was in the area so tried their lunch set.
Basically you order using the tablet and Ricky San's annoying commerical will pop up when you are ordering!
Great advertisement! NOT! and it is ruining my appetite!
It comes with salad and soup which you could do without because it is not any good, but the green tea was appreciated though.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fried oyster with curry sauce:
The rice was too soft and there was not enough curry sauce.
It was like eating baby food.
The oysters were really disappointing because they were mushy and rancid because of the frying oil.

Sunday brunch at Jashan Indian Cuisine
After trying the Saturday lunch buffet, decided to try the Sunday brunch which costs more.
The buffet selection is slightly better.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Dosa:
You are given a dosa which is a crispy Indian pancake filled with hot fiery potatoes.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Buffet:
I had a nice selection of curries, rice mixed with cooling yoghurt and mint sauce.
They also had tamarind sauce which was sweet and sour that complemented everything nicely.
Basically all the curries were hot so you end up mixing all the different curries together and dipping the naan bread in it.

Maxim's 2014 mooncakes
Maxim's Cake Shop (Ma On Shan)
Mooncakes again!!!!!!!
The lotus paste was quite dense and thick with a savoury note from the egg yolk.
I found it a bit too cloyingly sweet for my liking.
