Artsy Fartsy desserts! Art Attack

Dined here ages ago but only wrote the review now because the dessert Chef wanted the dessert pictures to be a secret so that guests would get a surprise.
Since lots of people have already posted their desserts, you can't really say I am spilling the beans here.

I heard of this place when they opened but as there were no pictures, it wasn't convincing to fork out $1XX on dessert without a clue on how it looks like.
Finally saw pictures on Instagram and pictures posted by friends who have tried which made me give it a visit.

It is located in a new building hence many of the floors were still under decoration and the lifts were still covered in plastic film.

When I got up there, it was modern and simple with a nice view of Causeway bay and Wan Chai.

The menu reminded me of this TV program called Art Attack hosted by Neil Buchanan with splashes of paint for each dessert item.

A very nice menu but there are no pictures of the dessert!

I had my mind on several desserts but there were some elements that I did not like.

LIME: lime mousse, white chocolate (not keen) and chocolate mud
APPLE: macaron, apple jelly, caramel apple
PEANUT: caramel sauce, meringue, peanut parfait
STONE: raspberry sand, blood orange, white chocolate mousse (not keen)
STEAK: brownie (not keen), pop rocks, yoghurt ice cream.

It was a hard decision between the APPLE and the PEANUT, but in the end I got the APPLE because the macaron seemed like it was going to taste less sweet compared to the meringue.

I was given a dessert amuse bouche.

The cracker was quite stunning because they stuck pretty Maldon salt crystals that have a pyramid shape on it.
However the liquid amuse bouche served in a test tube was too sweet for my liking.

APPLE:
macaron, apple jelly, caramel apple

When the APPLE arrived, it was colourful and beautifully presented.
It was not just macaron, apple jelly and caramel apple on the plate but decorated with an edible Pansy flower, cream, berries and other sauces.
I really liked this dessert because the stewed apple pieces were big and there was a lot of cream which balanced out the sweetness of the macaron.

Tea was included with the dessert and I chose Earl grey.

The tea was a good ending to dessert because it helped clear the palate with a refreshing earl grey tea taste.

Tsuen Wan's famous ramen joint : Ramen Taifu

Reformatted my phone by accident hence the small pictures because I was only able to retrieve them partially by getting a screen cap of the thumbnails.

Before the doors opened, there was already a queue.

Managed to get a seat in the corner and the staff were really friendly.
As the joint is quite small, they have a hook for your bags and they push your stool seats into the tiny bar tables.

For ramen, I tried the pork broth with fish which was really nice and the ramen was tasty because it hung the thick broth well.
On the side, there was fish powder which you gradually add in to get a stronger fish flavour.
There was so much ramen in the standard bowl so if your not a big eater you can ask for less.

Dreamy Mexican lunch

Came here for lunch and the menu has changed quite a bit.

The lunch includes a starter, mains, dessert and a drink.

Sauces:

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Black pepper crusted Tuna salad:

To be honest, I don't think this was Mexican but it was just part of the lunch.
It tasted quite nice because the lime sauce was tangy and the pepper crusted tuna was good.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fresh corn tortilla chips with guajillo chili honeydew melon salsa:

I am not fond of tortilla chips but the honeydew melon salsa was surprisingly good because the sweetness to it was soothing and delicious with a hint of coriander.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
smoky beef brisket tortilla wrap:

The beef wrap was served with salad, chipotle aioli, cajun fries and red salsa.
It was a bit like pulled beef but it was too sweet.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
smoked salmon quesadilla:

smoked over applewood chips, garnished with guacamole, pico de gallo and sour cream.
The salmon quesadilla was gorgeous, smoky salmon in the middle with stringy cheese complemented by the gorgeous creamy guacamole.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chocolate cake:

Not Mexican but part of the lunch deal.
Quite a nice little piece of chocolate cake that was moist, soft and not too sweet.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

When the bill came, I was pleased that they have not included the compulsory charity donation because I would like to be informed first before any compulsory donation is made.

Great noodles and great broth

Walked past quite a few times but couldn't try it because they were still setting up the place.

Afternoon tea sets

There are four noodles to choose from:
Inaniwa udon, Japanese somen, crystal noodles and squid ink noodles.
For the broths, there was tomato, lobster or pickle cabbage soup.

Here was what I tried:
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Squid ink noodles in lobster broth:

When it came, I was impressed because it had my favourite spinach, kelp and sweetcorn.
The lobster broth was rich but not too salty and the squid ink noodles absorbed the soup nicely.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Squid ink noodles in pickled cabbage soup:

The broth was really spicy but nice and there were lots of pickled cabbage.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Salad:

The salad was interesting because the sauce was salty and not tangy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fried prawns:

The prawns were crisp and springy and it was good that they were served separately from the noodles so that they were not soggy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Coco de nata and yoghurt pudding:

The pudding was really nice because it was not too sweet and there was a light yoghurt taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Coffee jelly with cream:

I didn't like it because it was extremely bitter.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chilled plum noodles

When it came, I was surprised it was presented as nice as the product picture.
Anyway, I loved the taste of the noodles because they were al-dente and each strand was smooth.
When the noodles were dipped into the sauce, the noodles became tasty with lots of crisp grassy taste from the spring onions.
