Just another snake joint at 蛇王良

Tried this randomly because I have not tried it before.

There are various of sets.

The best part is seeing jars of reptiles!!!!

The snake soup was how it should be, it was loaded with snakemeat, ginger, bamboo shoots, Chinese mushrooms but the taste was not impressive.

Didn't like the rice with salted meat because it had a weird smell.

The glutinous rice was ok but very soggy.

The tea was nice and strong.

Apple pie from Shatin 18

There was a recent hype for apple pie because there was a local Hong Kong film which featured apple pie from this cafe in Tai Po.
I have never tried it because Tai Po is too far and so is Shatin.

Thanks to KC for this apple pie.

It was my first HONG KONG APPLE PIE, the ones I tried before were the smaller versions!

This was a huge one!!

It was loaded with so much apples in it!!!
There was a mix of Granny smith and red apples according to the label.

Interestingly I found the apple pie sweet but KC said it was tart but then I have a very high tolerance for sour things.

As for the rest of the apple pie, I had it the Western way paired with cream and custard!

Great pizza box from Pizza-Box

Ordered this because we were filming a Food delivery challenge to see which restaurant was the most efficient and Pizza-Box was one of them.
The pizza was delivered on time.
It had a thick pizza base which was crispy at the bottom and soft in the middle topped with juicy slices of mushrooms and salami.
The pizza was quite good and the pizza box was functional because it is perforated so that you can tear it up and use them as plates.

Tsui Wah deliveries

Ordered this because we were filming a Food delivery challenge to see which restaurant was the most efficient and Tsui Wah was one of them.
The noodles came prompty and it was good the noodles and broth were separated.
As usual the sharks fin broth was delicious and msg free.

KFC deliveries!

Ordered this because we were filming a Food delivery challenge to see which restaurant was the most efficient and KFC was one of them.

KFC was definitely the most inefficient and branches of KFC are scarce these days because not many dine there.
When we called them up at 11ish, we were given a two hour delivery time which I think they say to deter people from getting deliveries.
All the other deliveries we ordered had arrived, we were still waiting and waiting for KFC and the producer was wondering whether to switch off the cameras.
The doorbell rung and it was a very dramatic scene, a desperately exhausted woman was carrying so many bags of KFC to be delivered in the same area!!
Although she didn't know she was being filmed, she happened to add drama to the show by saying "I am just trying to do my job"

Anyway, tried the red bean cakes which I found too sweet and starchy.

Purple Christmas magic

For the coming Christmas, Maxim's have launched three pretty cakes.

1. X'mas Tree $138
2. La Foret Blanc $128
3. X'mas Reindeer $188

The X'mas tree is a cake with mixed fruits, cream on a chocolate butter cake base coated with crispy chocolate rice which is covered in sweet potato cream, decorated with white, yellow chocolate pearls, chocolate Holly leaf and a golden chocolate star.

The La Foret Blanc is basically a white chocolate cake with Bavarois cream and crispy salted caramel.

Last but not least is the Reindeer which is a chocolate mousse cake with hazelnut, dark chocolate, marshmallows and crispy chocolate.

As well as cakes, they also have a fruit puff assortment.

Tried the sweet potato which was visually good to look at as well as being delicious because I loved the soft chocolate spongecake in the middle which tasted really nice with the mixed fruits and the velvety white cream and silky sweet potato puree on the outside.
When I was collected the cake, they put it in an Angry Bird cake box (errr I don't think the Xmas cake was supposed to go in that box!!!)

East Kowloon burger joint

East Kowloon is a great place for peace and quiet especially in the evenings because people leave the area as soon as they finish work.

As it was the festive season they had the Christmas sets and New year sets.

The tomato was creamy and savoury without being too sour.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Beef lovers are going to love this because the beef patty had a strong beef taste with a heavy charred flavour.

The beef was sweet and juicy with gravy pearls that were ready to burst open with gravy.
