The best Putien style Chinese afternoon tea

Putienians living in Kowloon will be delighted that there is a branch at Diamond Hill now!
This branch is very convenient and you don't have to wait for elevators.

Tried the tea set which costs $68, there are six dishes which is a good representation of Putien food.

For $30 more, you can add SET A or SET B which is another set of three dishes.

For fans like me, I opted for A and B because I love their food so much.
When it came, the tea set was huge! The trays were stacked on top of each other.

This was the main set:

There was delicious spinach in thick salted egg yolk and preserved egg yolk sauce, braised bamboo shoots, Jelly pigs trotters, Signature rice noodles, soup and lemongrass jelly.
Close ups of the dishes:

For SET A and SET B, they both had some really good dishes.
SET A had this delicious rice that was flavoured, then there was crispy seaweed with shrimps and some soft beancurd.

SET B was also good but it was a ligther option without the rice, the intestines were surprsingly good because they were very clean and lean. Then the thinly sliced bittermelon was refreshing.
The dessert was interesting because it was chewy filled with a sweeting filling.

I can't wait to come back for this but this set is only served at this branch from 2:30-4:30pm.

For people who are addicted to the chili sauce sauce, they now sell it! Hooray!

Sunday's Grocery saved the day

Last year when K-Town MTR station had not been opened, I made an effort to go to Kinsale, however they were not taking any reservations.
The brunch at Kinsale is served until 2:30.
I got there at 1:30 but the staff in the restaurant wouldn't bother attending to the customers at the door.
By the time I finally got attended to, I was told that brunch had finished.
Feeling very pissed I went to Sunday's which has never failed me before.

I got the Chicken Schnitzel Sandwich.

As you can see it was neat and flawless, it was sliced cleanly in the middle and looked perfect for a food shot!

The taste was amazing too, the chicken coating was crisp and light with no rancid oil taste.
It was simply delicious with the fresh salad, creamy mayonnaise and chicken in one bite!

Great burger joint at Burger Circus

It just so happens that Boomshack and Burger Circus have both opened around the same time.
I was attracted here because of the decor, it would pass as a great diner and the staff are dressed the part.

However this place is called Burger Circus so I was expecting more circus like decor such as colourful circus tent decals and elephants decals on the wall.

Anyway, as I was having dinner, I only tried the circus fries which were fries topped with savoury onions, American cheese served with Circus sauce.
The fries were nice and crispy and the sauce tasted like onion gravy.
It would be great if there were more sauce though, the pink sauce on the side is Circus sauce and if I am not wrong it tastes like tomato ketchup mixed and salad cream with diced guerkins.

Overall the food was ok but the menu and bill didn't state there was 10% which I think they should if they are charging it.

Pasta and pizza sets at AGE Cuisine Express

When you get there, the staff encourage you to dine there because if you opt for takeout you get a discount.

Anyway, had the peas and beef pizza which tasted ok and I chose it because not many pizzas have peas.
The pizza base was thin and crispy.
As for the pasta, the sauce was quite tasty and the texture of the pasta was al-dente.

Gone downhill [川味皇]

Since my last visit, this place has gone downhill because they did not put as much crispy soybeans as before and the minced pork was just fatty bits floating in the soup.

The taste was ok, but the broth was not as strong as before.

Exquisite dim sum presentation

After having a great dinner I was back for dim sums.

They have buns shaped like mushrooms and roses so I decided to order them.
As well as that, the menu was a pretty catalogue.

Here was what we had:

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Green tea -spring "dragon well" leaves $58
The tea was grassy balanced by the gentle sweet notes of wolfberries.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
spiced ginger pork knuckle $68
Ordered this because it was served in a jar.
It had fiery crushed fresh ginger which gave it a grassy kick.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
drunken chicken $68

The chicken was tender infused with a strong wine flavour.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
pickled radish florets $48
The pickled radishes were crunchy with a sweet taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
peppered eggplants $48

These were soft with a sweet garlicky taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Steamed rose floret bun $29 1pc

Just like the mushroom bun, it was a delight when it was served.
A great food picture to post on social media for likes!!
They were fluffy and soft with a light rose flavouring.
It would be great if it was served on a banana leaf or a plate scattered with deep fried tea leaves or with a long biscuit stick cover in green tea powder to pretend to be the stalk.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
truffle shiitake buns (3pcs) $49 3/件
They are basically buns filled with chopped mushrooms and truffle coated in chocolate powder to look like they were just plucked from the soil.
These buns were delicious with warm mushrooms in the middle covered in fragrant truffle sauce.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
For desserts, I only had the sesame ball because I was quite full.
cookies & cream $36
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
coconut red bean cup $36
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
osmanthus honey blossom cup $36
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
sesame ping pong (3pcs) $39

This was the best sesame ball I have had but the menu could have had more information to say that it was filled with pineapple since most people would be expecting red beans.
The pineapple filling tasted so much better because it was thick and chewy with a fruity pineapple taste.

BIttermelon with noodles at 豆花妹撈米線

This place is a good for fast, cheap, filling and tasty food.

The small bowl of noodles is always good in the late evenings to fill your hunger without overloading your stomach.
This time they had bittermelon so I chose that but unfortunately it was too sweet for my liking but the noodles were just as good as always because the meat sauce was tasty and spicy.
