Walked past and this dull looking shop caught my attention because it had some cakes displayed in the glass cabinet.
It is surprising there are over 2xx reviews before it was accessible by the MTR.
Decided to buy a piece of steamed cake.

Steamed egg cake:
It was a bit dry and too sweet, the texture was not fluffy enough and I have had better ones before.

Seaweed omelette at Flame Japanese Cuisine (Tsim Sha Tsui)
There were quite a few things I wanted to eat including the crab roe where you have to grill it but in the end I got the omelette and tuna rolls because I couldn't be bothered to watch it grill.
The menu was really annoying because it was in Japanese style Chinese and Japanese.
The prices were really cheap but then this restaurant is in Kowloon.
Anyway, here was what I had.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Seaweed omelette:
I was shocked how fast it came because it came a fews seconds after I had ordered, so it probably implies that this is already made and sitting in a warmer but the omelette was piping hot.
The taste was ok but you couldn't really taste the seaweed even though you could see it and the texture was not that fluffy.
Anyway, found egg shell in it which was white, therefore they use white eggs!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tuna rolls:
The tuna roll looked good with the generous strips of tuna given to you as well on the ends but the tuna lacked tuna taste.

Quality steak at L’Entrecôte De Paris Restaurant
The first time I had steak frites was in France but I couldn't remember the restaurant because I was young back then..
In Hong Kong, it is hard to find good steaks so the other place I have tried was La Vache.
The difference is that the steak at L’Entrecôte De Paris Restaurant comes with a famous secret recipe sauce.
It costs HKD268 and you get a green salad with walnuts followed by steak and unlimited fries which are delicious with the green sauce.
The drinks and cocktail menu were good with a nice choice for rums, whiskeys and vodkas.
The restaurant décor is simple and elegant with a 1920s glamorous feel. Tiffany lamps surrounding the ceiling help accentuate the atmosphere.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Treacle:
Had the rum which was pretty easy drinking with cubes of ice swirling in the glass and I really liked it because the rum was not too strong.
As well as this one I would have chosen Mary Pickford because it has grenadine a classic French drink ingredient.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
My Sky:
The drink I had was a refreshing concoction of lime, barley water and apple.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Starter:
To start off with, they give you a salami plate with refreshing pickled gherkins which were perfect with the drinks we ordered.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Salad:
This was a simple salad that was delicious because it was drizzled with lemon juice and olive oil and the leaves were crispy and fresh.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Steak with fries:
The steak was soft and juicy oozing with red juice which was simply delicious and the green sauce was really addictive because it had a garlicky creamy taste with a sour note that made it moreish.
After pouring the sauce on the fries, you won't be able to stop eating the fries however you have to save your appetite for dessert, but saying that I could not resist and had a bit too much.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Dessert:
This was my first Paris Brest and one that I will use as standard.
Paris Brest is a French dessert, made of choux pastry filled with a praline flavoured cream created in 1910 to commemorate the Paris–Brest–Paris bicycle race.
It has a circular shape to represent the bike wheel.
This dessert became popular to riders before the race because it is high in calories.
I remember a few years ago that they were really popular but not many places had them at the time.
As you can see the filling was beautifully piped and it was thick enough to hold.
Although the praline filling was thick it was delightfully silky and not too sweet sandwiched in between the delicate choux pastry that was light and springy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cheese platter:
On the plate was roquefort, roblechon, comté, mimolette and tome de savoie.
My favourite was the orange coloured mimolette which was flavourful because it was sharp, full bodied and had a nice semi hard texture.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Enough said, I am already addicted to their famous sauce!

Didn't get to meet the famous lady at Shun King Restaurant
To be honest, I don't like this type of food but my friend told me her experience dining here so I was really curious to see that person in action so I went here.
The experience my friend had was that one of the staff ordered her to sit at a particular spot and when she asked if they could leave out the spring onions that staff said no one has the right to request anything which caused my curiosity.
Unfortunately, that fierce dragon lady was not there when I dined.
It is nice that all their menus have English!
Anyway, ordered the famous baked rice with pork chop which was quite expensive.
It was a big bowl, very heavy with fried rice beneath it.
The pork chop was soft, juicy and tender.
The soup was quite powdery with bits of sweetcorn in it.

BURGER KING Tempura nuggets
Burger King is getting scarce in HK so hopefully it doesn't end up like Hardee's one day.
To be honest, the food variety is not as good as the other branches worldwide.
In Malaysia they have fried chicken on the menu.
On this visit I had the tempura nuggets.
The Pemperton branch is quite nice and there is less people.
☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tempura nuggets:
They basically look like McDonald's nuggets and I can't see any difference with the Tempura batter.
As for the taste, it was very salty and the oil was not that fresh.
The sauce was similar to Mcds BBQ sauce but it had a weird aftertaste.

Banquets at Joy Luck House 天福軒
Had a banquet here and I think it was a waste of money.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Roast suckling pig:
Only the roast suckling pig was good which came with steamed buns that had a strong coconut taste.
This was my favourite because the suckling pig was lean, and the skin was crispy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Prawn and e-fu noodles:
Tasteless
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Dumplings:
This was weird to be included in the banquet because it was cheap dumplings in a wonton broth.

Chocolate Choux Creme
Got this from someone and it tasted ok because the chocolate icing was not too sweet but the puff was a bit eggy and stale.
0
The custard filling didn't quite match the puff.
