Sweet treats at Lab Made Cafe

Since my last visit, there are new cakes in the cabinet.

Came with friends so that we could share the cakes.
Here were the ones we had:
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Blueberry cheese tart:

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
opera cake:

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Custard tart:

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Earl Grey opera:

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
My favourites were the Earl Grey opera and Custard Tart.
The Earl Grey could do with a stronger Earl grey flavouring but the Custard Tart was fine because it had a sweet creamy taste that was light supported by the buttery shortcrust tart base.

Localized curry at Sohal Indian Restaurant

Went to this place for a curry because the rest of the restaurants nearby were Chinese food.

I had the aloo gobi lunch set which was cheap costing $42.
When the rice came, the last thing I was not expecting was not Indian rice!

For Indian rice, I had to pay an extra $25 for Saffron rice which is silly because an Indian place should be serving Indian white rice and not Chinese rice.

The Saffron rice was much nicer and it was flavoured.

The aloo gobi was ok but the spices were weak and probably localized to adapt local tastesbuds.

$168 breakfast CAKE

Was bored one morning so decided to get a $168 cake for breakfast!~

I suppose it was good having this for breakfast because all the sugars and cream should have been burnt off during the day.
Anyway, I loved the layers of chocolate cake and fluffy cream complimented by the sweet and thick starchy sweet potato paste on top.

It was decorated with real pieces of sweet potato but they were a bit dry and hard.
The crunchy cornflake pieces in the middle spoilt it because it is weird having crispy things in a cream cake but this is a Hong Kong thing.

Skewed for a new look

Skewed has just been renovated and the tables and chairs are much more comfortable because the height has been adjusted.

New dishes:

Here was what we had:
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cheese fondue:

As usual, I had my favourite cheese fondue and the cheese was gooey and cheesy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Grilled salmon jaw:

Underneath the crispy skin was soft and silky salmon.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Monkfish liver:

These were cubes of velvety monkfish liver drizzled in appetizing dressing.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
S'mores:

Everyone is going to love s'mores because they are delicious with chewy grilled marshmallows sandwiched in between the crackers.
The crackers they used this time were better than the ones on my last visit because they were crispier.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Foie gras toast:

I loved the way it was drizzled with generous balsalmic which made it even more refreshing and the foie gras had this velvety melt in your mouth texture.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Grilled white eels:

Before trying this, I didn't know that white eels were different because I just assumed all eels were the same containing lots of bones.
This was surprisingly delicious because the skin was so crunchy and the eel was delicate and delicious.

Hong Kong's Duck and Waffle

If you have tried the signiature duck and waffle at London's Duck & Waffle restaurant, you are going to be excited with this new Duck waffle and confit dish at The Pudding Nouveau!
Since my last visit, there are more comfort dishes on the menu other than waffles.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Duck confit and waffle:

It looks just as good as the ones in London.

As for the taste, I was most impressed with the duck because the duck was soft and supple with a tasty crispy duck skin that was delicious when eaten with the runny yolk.
The waffle was good too because it is light and crispy with a soft centre without being too sweet.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Crab cakes:

These crab cakes were made with almost 99.9% crab meat.
They tasted really nice with freshly squeezed lemon.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Earl grey tea:

To finish I had my favourite Mighty Leaf Earl grey tea which never fails with its fresh leafy flavours because it contains whole tea leaves in the tea bag.

Chocolate roll from Saint Honore Cake Shop

The chocolate roll looked good so got it.

The roll was soft and firm with a strong cocao taste.
Inside the roll, there was thick sweet artificial cream and pieces of jelly.

Not bad, but I would have liked fresh cream instead of that weird cream.

Relaxing at Americanos

I had quite a while before dinner so went here for a drink.
For non-alcoholic drinks they had Horchata and Agua Fresca.
In the end I got the Agua Fresca.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Agua Fresca:

This was a mix of cucumber and lemon but unfortunately I found it too sweet for my liking.
