foodpanda to the rescue

When foodpanda was first launched I didn't think much of it because I was surrounded by good food but when my location changed I got depressed because all the food around the area was SHXT.
I found myself constantly travelling to other areas for food which probably sounds extreme but I love food that much!
Finally went on their website to see what I could order.
https://www.foodpanda.hk/

First you have to enter your location so that the database will show the list of restaurants around your area, but don’t fret because there are some restaurants that are not nearby which you can order.
I reduced my choice to one restaurant because it was Jewish food which I have never tried before and it is located in the Jewish Community Centre of Hong Kong which is not open to public.
Made the order and the super cute panda was here to the rescue with my delicious gourmet food!!
** Please note that the delivery person is not guaranteed to be dressed up like a panda.

The food was lovely and hot and it was just amazing being able to get special food especially cous cous and chicken soup with matzoh balls.

There were two huge pieces of chicken thighs in that dish.

If it were not for foodpanda I wouldn't be able to try the food from the Jewish community centre but I wonder how they managed to get in because it is members only!!
Foodpanda is amazing and I can’t wait to order again.

Meat cakes not worth the hype @ 大頭佛城隍廟

Went here because of the meat cakes.
They cost $15 each which is quite cheap.

Tried the pork and beef.
THE RECEIPT IS RATHER STRANGE BECAUSE THE MENU SAYS THE PORK HAS BLACK PEPPER AND IT DOESN'T.
The staff there were a bit not attentive.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Pork with preserved vegetables:

The pastry was thick and dense and the pork in the middle was tasteless.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Signature beef cake with black pepper:

There was a lot of juice as expected but again the pastry was dense and thick and the black pepper was dead and tasteless.

Snow harvest from ISEE iSEE Handcrafted Icy Desserts

On my last visit, the Earl grey pistachio was sold out so I got this other icelolly which wasn't very impressive.
They had it this time but I decided not to try it because there was not much pistachio nuts if you compare it to icelicious where the icelolly is loaded with ingredients.

Anyway, I got the Purple harvest which is snowflake ice.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Purple harvest:

The purple harvest is snowflake ice topped with purple potato dust garnished with a sprig of mint.
The dessert was not bad but not my cup of tea because I don’t like granola.

There were mochi dumplings and pieces of sweet potato in it but the sweet potato puree does not taste as good as the one nearby.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
I hope to go again for the icelollies because there are some new flavours such as tomato gazpacho.

Lobster burger at Burgeroom

Decided to try the lobster burger because the product picture was stunning with a huge lobster head.

As I was hungry I added a portobello mushroom as well.

The lobster meat was tucked nicely in the bun with the claw meat put at the front of the burger to make it look nice, garnished with the lobster head.

It was really delicious with juicy slices of tomato and creamy avocodo.
For drinks, there were lots of options including green tea latte but I opted for the chocolate and hazelnut drink.
The hazelnut and chocolate was not too sweet but the hazelnut taste was not strong enough.
As for the earl grey tea, it was aromatic and pleasant to drink.

Saint Honore’s new Earl Grey Swiss Roll

The fancy Swiss rolls at Saint Honore are really nice.

So far, there has been:
Green tea with mango (don’t like mango)
Fruit roll (haven’t tried)
Okinawan brown sugar roll (really good)
Earl Grey tea

My favourites so far are the Okinawan brown sugar and the new Earl Grey.

The Earl Grey roll is filled with Australian milk mousse, Earl Grey jelly and mochi.

I really liked it because every part of the roll was delicious from the fragrant but not too sweet roll that had a natrual Earl Grey taste to the lovely Earl Grey jelly and mousse in the middle.
The mochi element was a bit weird though because the texture was sticky and sweet.

A peachy Mother’s day‏

A longevity peach, or shoutao is typically a steamed lotus seed bun that is white with a red dyed tip and a crease in the middle that mimics the shape of a peach. In the Chinese tradition the longevity peach represents Peaches of Immortality that grant humans immortality when consumed hence this is why the longevity peach is typically served at birthday banquets to attendees. For mother day’s Bao Dim Sin Seng have launched a series of longevity peach buns!!!

There is the golden peach series and a traditional series.
********************
The golden series has custard and egg yolk filling while the other has traditional lotus paste filling. Golden series:

Traditional series:

Personally, I like the golden peach series because of the filling and The Queen Mother set has a crown for fun and looks great on pictures (see product shot)!

Golden longevity peaches ($30 for pair of $16 each) 金桃 (1對)

The first in the golden peach series is the custard golden peach which has custard and egg yolk in the middle. ********************
Surrounded by peaches 桃李滿門 ($42)

The second golden peach is surrounded by smaller peaches that are filled with lotus paste or red bean with a custard golden peach bun.

Queen Mother! $98 女皇媽媽

The last is my favourite because it is meaningful. It is a big bun that hides a bun filled with egg yolk and lotus paste and 6 mini buns filled with lotus paste or red bean paste.

There are four different greetings for the bun such as Beautiful mum, Fat Mum etc and there is a crown for fun.

To conclude, the Queen Mother set and the 桃李滿門 are fun to share.
Personally I liked the custard filling because it was fragrant and not too sweet encased in a delicious fluffy bun.
