Came here randomly because the name aroused curiosity.
Inside it was just the usual cha chaan teng items but the decor was vintage with LPs and old posters etc.
Ordered the hainan chicken and the stir fried beef noodles.
The chicken was just skin and bone.
The stir fried beef noodles turned out the best and they used thin flat noodles.
After adding chili sauce, it tasted really good because the chili sauce they gave had some vinegar in it.

[乜記餐室 What Cafe] What the heck is What Cafe?
[Picoso] Mexican inspired dishes
Laichikok restaurants are booming and there are more and more choices. You can now dine at Picoso for Mexican inspired food.
Ordered the steak fajita and chili con carne.
The steak fajita was better than expected because the beef was good but the salsa was just tomato puree.
There was some good chili sauce on the table which made up for the puree.
The chili con carne was interesting as it wasn't minced meat. It looked like meatballs in the dish but it turned out to be brisket meat.
The Mexican rice and cilantro rice were quite firm in texture.
For drinks had the avocado milkshake which was very weak as there was more milk than avocado.
The fizzy grapefruit turned out to be yuzu.
Overall, another place for lunch compared to the zero options many years ago.

[百川居酒屋 Hyakukawa Izakaya] Cozy Izakaya
There are so many Japanese restaurants to check out in CWB.
Went here because it was slightly away from the crowd.
There were lots of options on the menu:
To my surprise they had Padron peppers so I ordered it because you don't normally see this in a Japanese place.
They were covered in Bonito flakes which gives it a smokey taste. Next were the fried gyozas which were fried to perfection.
I love oyster tempura so had that as well. The tempura batter was just right and not over done.
For carbs, finished with the bittermelon and pork pot and truffle sushi.
The bittermelon could have been softer.
The sushi was fantastic so I definitely recommend the skewers and sushi.

[素街 Veggie Guy] Veggie buffet
I am glad that more and more people are health conscious these days which means there are more vegetarian restaurants.
Getting popular than ever are vegetarian buffets.
A few years ago, there were quite a few good ones which didn't make it such as Red Mango, gik ji soh etc.
At Veggie Guy, you can practically experience the buffet any time of the day as they do lunch, afternoon tea an dinner.
This location will not be unfamiliar to vegetarians as this spot used to be THE VEGGIE.
At the buffet section, there were so many dishes to choose from. The DESSERT got my attention because it was English BREAD PUDDING!!!
As well as English dessert, they also had Sichuan mock chicken and other goodies.
Prawn toast:
Truffle egg guo bao:
I just couldn't wait to eat because the last two times I had vegetarian buffet was the wrong timing.
This time, everything was good and I ended up eating lots of stuff.
My favourites were the bread pudding, okra tempura, fried noodles, turmeric rice and much more,
Will definitely come back again.

[杜老誌大飯店 Tonnochy Food & Beverage] A scene from the past
While everything is modernized, some shops and restaurants are trying to take diners back in time.
At Tonnochy Food & Beverage they did just that, when you go in you will find old restaurants, clubs and stores there. Since I wasn't raised here it was hard to relate to it but for the elderly they might see it as nothing exciting but it appeals to the generation now who slowly saw it fade away.
It looked like a mini movie set which could be improved. I appreciate the details but I felt that tables outside the shops were a bit strange so if they made the floor like a road or pavement then it would look like the restaurants at Temple Market.
There is a video games room which is also a dining room.
For food we had the roasted pigeon which is a popular Hong Kong thing which I don't know why but anyway it was bit dry.
Also had the stinky tofu which I liked but the stinkyness was not strong enough.
When the ribs arrived, I thought they looked like Sweet and Sour but there was a difference in taste. The Kyoto ribs are worth ordering as you get proper ribs here and they all have a fair bit of meat on them.
For mains, tried the aubergine and salted fish casserole. The saltiness was there but it lacked salted fish aroma and taste.
Last but not least, the vegetables was our favourite as the greens were tender and there was lots of salted egg and preserved egg in it.
Finished with the baked pineapple sago which is an exclusive here. You will find it quite different to the usual baked sago as it has a puff pastry top and there is a layer of pineapple puree in the middle. Overall quite good but the sago was too soft.
Overall, it was great dining here so if I am in MK I hope to try the Ladies Market restaurant which is similar to this.
