[Restaurant Review] Megan's in the Village , Wimbledon

Megan's is a bustling chain of cafes that you will find plotted in London.
Went there with my cousin and we got a takeout because it was quite busy.
The food choices at Megan's was quite impressive from decent cakes to savoury bites.
As it was lunch, I got the sausage brioche and had it toasted because they asked if I wanted it toasted.
I must admit I am not a fan of brioche buns because they are soft and sweet but toasting them took it to another level.
The brioche bun was light and airy while the sausage in the middle was filling.
There was generous amounts of sweet onions in it which I found too sweet overall it was good.

[Restaurant Review] African Delicacy Restaurant - Moimoi

This restaurant used to be Don's Cafe but now it is African Delicacy Restaurant.
I think ADR has been in Croydon for a while because it does come up on google.
It offers the usual fare like Jollof rice, moimoi, okra soup etc.
As I have already tried Jollof rice and okra soup elsewhere I went for the moimoi.
Moimoi is a Nigerian steamed pudding made from black-eyed peas, red peppers that give it that the colour and onions.
It has a lovely flavour owing to Crayfish according to youtube videos and they also put boiled egg in it but the one at ADR did not have egg or perhaps egg is optional.

I knew I was going to like moimoi because I love crayfish.
The moimoi at ADR did not disappoint because it was really tasty and you could really taste the umami from the seafood.
The texture was soft and similar to pureed food so it was comforting.
Somehow I could taste crab but I am not sure but anyhow it was delicious and tastier than the Chinese version.
There is a similar pudding in Hong Kong with black eye peas where they add five spice powder and preserved sausage.
For the mains, I had the Swallow meal which came with pounded yam which is always eaten with soups.
The pounded yam is similar to mashed potato but thick and stickier which helps to fill you up like potatoes and rice.
So for the soups, I believe I had the ogbono and eforiro soup.
Both were tasty but in different ways. I liked the ogbono because it is slimey so when you put the pounded yam, the soup hangs well.
The eforiro soup was like sharp tomato soup with spinach and spices, another comforting thing to eat on a cold day.
To finish, I had the sweet dumplings which was similar to a Chinese donut but miles better because it was not too sweet and the texture was springy.
The Chinese donut is much bigger but too airy and eggy inside so the Sweet dumpling is much nicer as well as English donuts.

[Restaurant Review] Morrisons Cafe in Sutton

For those who don't live in the UK, Morrrisons is a big chain of supermarkets where they a cafeteria at the bigger branches.

I visited the cafe at Morrisons in Sutton after lockdown when a limited menu was offered.

The cafe was not in its usual glory but we stopped by for some tea.

It was definitely a good experience because I love tea and it is always better dining out.

Overall, everything was satisfactory.

[Restaurant Review] Roka 15th anniversary premium tasting menu - kinenbi kosu

This meal was eaten at the beginning of this year but finally had time to write this up lately.

As I have not seen my friend in decades, he suggested going to Roka for a special treat where we were allocated to sit on the corner which was good.

I had no idea what to order or what was the best so my friend ordered the 15th anniversary premium tasting menu which had a bit of everything including dessert.

Each course came beautifully and the server explained what each dish, however some dishes I couldn't quite catch what it was because it was quite noisy but I managed to get a photo of the tasting menu we had.
Interestingly the scallops came twice but the server already left before we could tell him.

Dessert ended in an indulgent way because it was a huge platter with so many items!!!

It was definitely a great dinner with my friend on a rainy night.

[Restaurant Review] My new favourite for chips at The Fish & Chip Shop

Came here during the summer and now I finally have a moment to write this up because the chips were so good that I had to share it.

I was going somewhere on the bus and spotted this chippy on the corner and my gut instinct was to try it.
The decor of The Fish & Chip Shop was simple, white tiled walls with a simple grey shop front.
Boy was I glad that I got off the bus and had some chips.

We ordered a portion to share and the guy was really nice to split the portion into two which made it easier for us to eat.
My friend had tomato ketchup on hers and I initially didn't want any ketchup because salt and vinegar just do fine, however when I was holding hers and waiting for mine, I changed my mind and the guy was really nice and didn't mind adding the ketchup to it.

Since, no dine ins were allowed due to the current situation we had to quickly find somewhere to sit because I couldn't hold the chips any longer as my fingers are sensitive to hot things.
Luckily there was a bench nearby which was just fantastic.

Before starting on the chips, I knew they were going to be delicious because each chip was uniformly cut and the colour was blonde.
Each chip was just fluffy and delicious, they were so good that they have beaten my regular chippy!
Not only did they taste great, they smelled delicious.
All the chips were uniform in size and colour without any odds and ends or burnt bits.
The ketchup which I did not initially want turned out to be another star of the show because the ketchup they use is very vinegary and really makes the chips moreish.
After I finished the chips, I felt really happy because the quality of these chips were so good that I am definitely coming back again.
Hopefully dine in will be available next time because chips always taste extra comforting when you add more salt and vinegar to it halfway through.

Third visit and it was still consistently good, check out clean and the oiless the paper was afterwards when I finished the chips.
