Hotel Review: Days Inn Stevenage North in Baldock

Days Inn Stevenage North is located at Baldock Service station so convenient for those making long trips and wanting a break in between.
A rather basic hotel and it is interesting because this is the only hotel with a muddy entrance.
The shower different, there was an edge to either put things or to use as a seat.
Each room has a seal so you can see it has been sanitized etc.
The only gripe was the dirty cup.

Hotel Review: hub by Premier Inn London West Brompton hotel

Review of Hub by Premier Inn, West Brompton.
A very nice and bustling hotel just a few footsteps away from West Brompton over ground station, 10 minute walk to Earls Court High Street.
It is also near the BBC earth experience and Brompton Cemetery.
Late at night, it was good to see patrons at the lounge of the hotels.
There are rooms below ground level which I particularly liked because there was no window so you feel nice and cozy.
The shower was powerful which was good, equipped with kettle, hairdryer, a lovely giant bath towel and my favourite Baylis Harding white tea shower gel.
At the other end of the bed, there is a table that pulls out.
On the wall, I loved the picture which divides London in different blocks.
There is a lit storage space under the bed which is functional.
Overall recommended but as a foodie, food choices were grim in the area.

Nonna Rosa's Italian Coffee Bar/Delicatessen

I intended to go to London for an Italian sandwich but didn't quite make it so ended at this other Italian deli which is rarely open when I'm in town.
I was in town to try this chippie but since this place was open I went in.
Upon entering, there was a chilled cabinet with lasagne and then I saw these baguettes which were interesting being in an Italian cafe.
I fancied the artichoke in the baguette so ended up having it with ham.
Ideally I should have chosen the focaccini but they look like the mass produced ones and the texture looked like brioche so the reason I had regular bread.
It was a nice sandwich, the artichokes were a bit bland and woody like Chinese canned bamboo shoots depending on which part of the artichoke but nicer hence the ham was there to give it flavour.
It is difficult to get fresh artichokes hence the reason for brined ones just like bamboo shoots but bamboo shoots smell of urine.
Overall a nice fix out of the blue.
All this and tea for £7.50.

Hotel Review: Point A Canary Wharf

Recently stayed at Point A Canary Wharf which has two buildings opposite each other.
It is a boutique hotel a few minutes walk from Canary Wharf.
As you would expect, it is ensuite with toilet and shower.
I particularly liked this hotel because it reminded me of capsule hotels with the foldable tables/racks and it also felt like I was on a flight.
There was mood lighting and a two in one heater/air conditioner that did its job.
The shower was nice because the water came out really fine yet strong but the only thing I did not like was the toiletries mainly because the scent was not for me.
There was a hairdryer, lockable safe but no kettle.
The doors are all opened with smart cards like any other hotel but I liked the futuristic touch they had because the room number and room status is on the door lock.
Staying at the windowless rooms might be better than the ones with windows if you prefer peace and quiet because you are shielded from the streets.

Prawn shaomai and Mushroom tofu dim sum at The Truman Market, Brick Lane

Stopped by The Truman Market while I was on my way to this Italian joint.
I was captivated by this dim sum which had rice inside so decided to try it.
There were other dim sums available so I had the prawn shaomai (which actually looks like more shrimp) from the garnishing but who knows it could be made with prawns.
The shrimps were probably alive during steaming because many have jumped off onto the cloth which is baffling unless the steamer dropped from a height.
Anyway at £2 a piece I was shocked to be given one with a missing shrimp so I asked if I could have a normal one.
To my dismay, the staff just picked one of the fallen ones and plonked it back on!
I felt that there was a language barrier as I failed to get info on what the rice dim sum was until I took a walk around the block and saw the banner above.
I mean seriously, he could have just pointed at that when I asked to save himself explaining.
Now to the taste, the mushroom tofu one was quite was nice and different.
The prawn one was seriously weird, the texture was like foamy marshmallow meringue, not quite sure how they managed that because I've had my fare share of dim sum and the texture is normally bouncy.
