kabul sheeryakh

Another place for Afghan Sheeryakh (frozen milk).
This place does authentic Sheeryakh as well but I went at the wrong time because they made too much of it so it was just scooped out from the container.
The tell tale signs because the shape was a round scoop but if it was made to order you will see them pushing and rotating the metal container vigorously.
Again, the location of this was off the radar located near Hendon Station.
As for the taste, it was just as nice and not as sweet which was good.

Authentic Afghan Sheeryakh, Hanwell

Finally got my dose of authentic Afghan Sheeryakh.
My quest for Sheeryakh (frozen milk) has not been easy as all the locations are out of no where and they all open in the evenings when I can't access them.
Out of the four I tried, I can definitely confirm this place is more than authentic and the same as how you would see it in Afghanistan on the internet.
You will see milk being poured into the metal drum and the drum is constantly pushed up and down and rotated in an ice cavity thing which is extremely physical.
Once the frozen milk is ready and scooped into the bowl, they pour clotted cream on top.
The pieces of clotted cream curd was delicious and reminds me of Mongolian Aaruul curds.
Overall, a really refreshing dessert that is not too sweet and Thankfully the rose water is not strong because I don't like rose!
Again, out of the radar for most like me but I would definitely recommend it.

The first Schnitzel specialist in London - Schnitzel Forever

In every cuisine you will find something that is coated and fried like battered fish in fish and chips, chicken nuggets, Japanese tempura/cutlet, Korean Corndogs, Russian Kievs to the Austrian Schnitzel.
Enter Schnitzel Forever which specializes in Schnitzel located in Stoke Newington right next to Hollywood Candy.
They started their amazing Schnitzel during the pandemic and now they have a successful restaurant with many diners.
I was lucky to get a table as I was early as they were fully booked on a Wednesday night.
As a Schnitzel specialist, they definitely got it right from daily oil changes, good quality to to meat quality.
Simple as that!
For starters, the original Schnitzel is a good one to start on and for me Chicken was pure foodgasm.
Each bite was delicious, the chicken breast was battered extremely thin but remained moist from frying and the Japanese coating was light and crispy and did not retain the oil or have a funny taste.
It was a good balance because the coating was not too thick or over powering in taste that it didn't really need any sauces but fresh lemon took it to another lemon.
The fresh dill and parsley garnishing complemented it nicely and there was also dill butter which are all up my alley.
On the menu, you will find some fancy Schnitzel with sauces and toppings and I like the way they even have Saganaki which is three different types of cheese coated in breadcrumbs as well as the fried burrata.
Overall, I definitely recommend this and even Jay Rayner approves!
Returned a month later and had the fried burrata on apple & brandy apricot chutney and
pesto sauce.
It takes schnitzel to the next level when you add the gooey creamy burrata on to it and the apple apricot chutney tasted liked delicious McDonalds apple pie filling because of the cinnamon.

Brazilian Cheesy Pastel de queijo from Eli’s Deli & Pastelaria

Brazilian Cheesy Pastel de queijo from Eli’s Deli & Pastelaria
Size matters, so when I saw this huge Brazilian Pastel I had to get it.
There were various fillings: beef, chicken and cheese so I chose cheese.
Pastel is basically a fried parcel with filling!
The ones at Eli's Deli looked really uniform as it was a perfect rectangle with straight edges.
Overall, my cheese pastry was really nice and the cheese had a salty kick to it but not on the cheesy side with a mozzarella cheese pull texture.
Definitely recommended.
As well as pastels, they have cooked food where you can get what you want and priced by weight.

Banh Mi Vietnam, Croydon

To be honest, the banh mi wasn't bad, I was just disappointed that they didn't have the Vietnamese sausage slices like other places.
The baguette they used was a typical French Baguette like the ones you can buy at Lidl as they taste the same.

Banh mi Hoi an, Hackney Central

Discovered banh mi Hoi an when I made a trip to Sutton fish and chips a few years ago.
I have been meaning to visit but they close really early and many things are always sold out.
Finally visited a few years later because of the Sides Land pop up.
The fact that they are still around and have been around for many years proves that they are good.
I was not disappointed but wished I visited earlier when catfish was on the menu but probably discontinued due to demand and supply issues.
Anyway, the banh mi I had is definitely one you would want to sink your teeth in.
A proper bun and not one of those pre frozen baguettes.
All the ingredients were delicious and in harmony and the pickles and sauerkraut were delicious.

The best cream doughnut (Devonshire split) at Kravez patisserie

The best doughnut ever with fresh cream and luscious strawberries.
Cream beignets, Korean milk buns, Maritozzi and Devonshire splits are the latest trend at the moment.
Basically doughnuts/buns filled with whipped cream overload.
I love fresh cream doughnuts so its great seeing this craze.
Discovered that Kravez have it so gave them a try.
Their doughnuts are filled with fresh cream and were even better than expected.
Each bite was heavenly with fluffy cream and pillowly doughnut complimented by the sweet strawberries.
This is probably my favourite so far as the cream, bun and strawberries were to my liking as opposed to brioche buns and Asian milk buns.
The reason I didn't try earlier was the location being uphill with a few traffic lights to cross but finally made it as I was checking out a new shop nearby.
They make their own cakes and know well of the trends as well as appreciate good food.
As well as cakes, they also have an impressive Caribbean hot food range.
