Another option for Nitrogen ice cream in Hong Kong

ICE POP Nitrogen Ice-cream (Causeway Bay)
As well as successful Labmade, there is now Ice Pop, not to mention two other pathetic ones which kept running out of Nitrogen whilst the other one just gave you the usual icecream pretending it was Nitrogen icecream.

Anyway, ICE POP is located opposite Tiger Curry on Pennington Street.
It is spacious serving drinks and cakes as well.

There were four flavours that day and I tried the bubble tea and tofu.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Bubble tea:

Basically it tasted like a mix of Hong Style milk tea with a strong earl grey flavour with the usual bitter aftertaste of Hong Kong style tea.
So if you like Hong Kong style tea, this would be the flavour to choose.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tofu with seasalt and mochi:

Personally the tofu was my favourite because I like tofu and it had a decent soybean taste but the sweetness was a bit sweet.
The one I had did not have castella cake or mochi in it as seen on other photos.

Decent curries at Himalaya Restaurant (Wan Chai)

As I had this a while ago, the prices might have gone up.
Eversince I had their lunch buffet I have been meaning to go back because the variety is good.
In the end, I ended up coming here a few years later and the quality was just as good which is reassuring.

For lunch, a drink is included, but I found the banana lassi too sweet and the banana taste was a bit artificial.
As water was given, I was not really bothered with the sweet lassi.

They give you scrumptious chewy but crispy naan which is perfect with the curries.

The curry selection is good but you have to get their early because not much is refilled after 1:45pm.

Here was what I had.

I really enjoyed the curry buffet because the taste of the curry was not spicy and the rice was soft and delicious with my favourite tikka meats and yoghurts.
Although the curries in UK tastes better, the Indian rice in Hong Kong is better because they don't use as much colourings as they do in the UK.

The bill was less than $100 which was a bargain!

Great snacks at Tung Tat Food Shop (Mong Kok)

These snacks are great to have once in a while, but it is strange that locals complain that fries and burgers are greasy when these fried snacks actually contain more oil which you can visibly see in the photo below.

I ordered the fish shaomai, stuffed green pepper, two pieces of tofu with fish patty on it.

When it came, they all looked lovely with a juicy green pepper that had gone slightly yellow.
It was served green pepper skin side up because part of the stuffing had gone.

Anyway, the snacks were decent because the frying oil was fresh and the colour of the fried snacks were nice and pale. (Not golden enough for Hong Kong standards, but great in my opinion).
The fish patty was slightly chewy and did not contain any grounded bones with a strong fish taste that most places don't have.
The fish shaomai was ok because it was flavoured by the soy sauce and it was not the type that clearly tastes of fish flavoured flour.

Arome Bakery Room's Lemon meringue dessert cup

Saw these vibrant yellow desserts and when I realized it was my favorite lemon meringue I decided to get one.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Lemon meringue dessert cup:

The dessert was surprisingly quite nice, it had a layer of cake, lemon mousse, a piece of peach in the middle and lemon curd jelly on top with a chewy soft egg white meringue.
It was quite refreshing to find a piece of canned peach in the middle and I loved the balance of the sweet meringue with the tart lemon mousse.

Having a midnight burger at Choi Hung's new McD McDonalds

I was pretty hungry after a photoshoot and luckily there was a McDonald's nearby so decided to treat myself to a burger at midnight.

Ordered the filet o fish which is always consistently good provided that they use fresh buns, fresh frying oil etc.

The fish burger was delicious because the filet coating was crispy and the fish was silky with delicious tartar sauce to complement it.

Glam Shelter

This was a lovely place for Italian food because the setting was gorgeous.
We sat at the far end where it was like an alfresco glass house.

Here was what we had.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Akasha - absolut citron, lemongrass liquor, elderflower syrup, orange juice, mango peach tea caviar

At first it looked like ordinary tea but it was actually an alcoholic peach tea.
There were pearls at the bottom which float when the beverage was poured into the cup.
Although I don't drink much alcohol but this was fun to drink.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Asparagus, Tartufo Nero Mesclun salad, asparagus, celery and cherry tomato, tossed in black truffle dressing

This was a tasty salad with a strong truffle dressing as well as truffle slices which you could see.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Poached boston lobster, fruit salad of mango, papaya melon, blueberries, strawberry and lobster sabayon

This was a refreshing salad with fresh lobster on top of delicious mango fruit salad.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Strozzapreti vongole e carciofi
Handmade strozzapreti, sustainable new zealand diamond clams and artichokes

Strozzapreti which is sliced pasta and twisted is my favourite because it is chewy and holds the sauce well.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Risotto “Acquerello” ai gamerbi e capesante “Acquerllo “rice, hokkaido scallop, rose prawn, spinach, lemon scent and pantelleria capers Baccala

The risotto was filling and creamy with generous pieces of seafood in it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Salted spanish line caught “gadus morhua” white cod with asparagus, mussel and clam broth powder

This was my favourite because I love chunky flakey cod, the texture was firm and springy with a delicious salted taste because it was soaked in brine.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Vitello
Stuffed veal chop with mushroom, spinach and parmesan, wrapped in pork net, truffle mashed potato

The veal was tender stuffed with creamy spinach in the middle.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Mojito semifreddo, peppermint jelly with jasmine tea sauce

The dessert was great, the mojito was refreshing balanced by the jasmine tea sauce and cooling peppermint jelly.

McDonalds Hong Kong: Green tea softserve

Thanks to hardcore foodie LLWL for letting me know where I could get this trial edition of green tea softserve.
It is currently available in a few branches in HK at the moment.

Costing $4.4 it is worth trying.

You are either going to like it or not because it depends how you like your green tea.

If you like the green tea at Via Tokyo and sweet house cha cha, don't bother with this because the green tea taste and bitterness will not be strong enough for your tastebuds.
But if your not keen on green tea, this is a mild one because the vanilla taste is stronger with a hint of green tea.
It tastes like a mix of 70% vanilla softserve with 30% green tea.

The colour of the softserve is a pleasant dull pastel green.

The colour of the softserve without flash.

Personally I liked it because I don't like the green tea flavour too strong and I like the combined taste of vanilla and greentea because it balances the sweetness.
