Learning how to make coffee

United Cafe Restaurant (Jordan)

United Cafe Restaurant has three branches in Kowloon, it is partnered by two people whom one is Christian and one is a Catholic.

Thanks to the SodaCard membership rewards I got to try the new tea set, dine there and learn how to make Cappuccino.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tea set:

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Avocado and salmon tartar:

The tartar was really nice especially the generous avocado base at the bottom which was creamy with pieces of diced tomatoes.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Learning how to make Cappuccino:

The barrister and owner were really patient and detailed in showing us the steps, explaining the procedures and why it is done that way.

Tea sets @ Triple King Cafe

Triple King Cafe (Causeway Bay)

On my previous visit the tea sets were quite impressive so decided to come here again.

I was slightly disappointed because the tea set menu has changed and there are less items to choose from.
The prices have also gone up too.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Interesting drink:

Coke with salted lemon and coke jelly!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Garlic bread with liver pate:

This was delicious and the liver pate was really velvety and silky, but the only let down was there was so much oil on top that I needed to soak it off with a tissue.
The side of lettuce that did not look nice was actually quite good and the sauce was nice and tangy but the colour of the sauce was weird.

Part2:☆Γρεξοπ☆ΓΡΕΞΟπ☆Grecoπ☆Γρεψοπ☆Γκρέκοπ☆

Grecoπ (Wan Chai)

Grecoπ is a great place for Greek food, but it is located in the middle of nowhere!

A year later they have new items on the menu so I went to try them out.

They have two new desserts but it was not available when I went.

I would go again but this place is too far away and I really cannot be bothered to walk here despite the food is brilliant.

They sell taramasalata and hummus dips in the fridge.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fries with crumbled feta:

Since my last visit, I had forgotten how delicious their fries were.
There was crumbled feta on top which makes the fries more appetizing.
There were quite a few fries that were really long in length!
The length of the fries are about the length of a plastic fork.
They are even taller than a can of coke.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Grilled Greco burger:

Before I started devouring the burger I was delighted how it was neatly wrapped because not all burgers are presented in a nice way.
You could see they put effort in making the burger and each layer was neatly place including the sauce.
The patty was really nice and the texture of it was different, it tasted similar to kofte with herbs.

They also put two slices of cheddar in the burger.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Greek spinach pie:

The spinach pie was my favourite, wholesome spinach in the pie covered with delicate filo pastry.
It was filled with so much spinach!

If the pie had been warmer it would have been perfect.

URBAN croissants at the urban side of town

URBAN Bake n Take (Tseung Kwan O)

Urban bakery's first branch was at the Hysan place.
After opening their second Branch at langham place, this is their third branch away from the city.

I did not try the croissants at Hysan place because when I went, there was a horrible buttery smell in the air.

The range was the same with almond croissants, cheese croissants, caramel croissants and the deluxe croissants.

Decided to try it because their was no queue and there was a food court nearby to eat it.
Tried the Langoustine with curry emulsion croissant, cheese croissant and caramel croissant.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Langoustine with curry emulsion croissant:

After ordering it, the Lingoustine (crayfish) was measured by weight and put in a bowl for mixing.

It was helpful of them to slice it in half for me, but the taste was slightly disappointing because the sauce had a weird taste which ruined it for me.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cheese croissant:

Lacked cheese taste and it was slightly sweet too.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Caramel croissant:

Too buttery and greasy.
Although it was flakey, it was heavily greased.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
To conclude La salon croissantere is much better because the butter is not as heavy and does not leave me with indigestion.
Eating just one croissant from this place leaves me stuffed for at least six hours.

Brown sugar Sachima by Taipan

Taipan Bread & Cakes (North Point)

Sachimas are popular treats for kids.

To me, they are similar to sticky rice crispy/cornflake bars made in cookery lessons at school.

I was attracted to the ones at Taipan because they had so many flavours for the sachima!!

-Brown sugar and cashew nut
-peanut and raisin
-orange and honey
-ginger
-meat floss

The flavours were rather funky and modern!!

Anyway I bought the Brown sugar and cashew nut flavour.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Brown sugar and cashew nut sachima:

The good thing about these modern sachimas is that they do not have that weird smell.

The sachimas were light and delicious, the sweetness was just right, but the brown sugar taste was not strong enough.
The main problem was that it fell apart when you ate them.

Squid ink series @ The Ramen

The Ramen (Kowloon Bay)

Came here because the other places were packed and this place was quite empty.

I was attracted by the black squid udon and ramen so ordered them both.
I believe they mean Squid ink/Black squid ink because there is no such thing as black squid.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Black squid yaki udon:

The udon was nice and al-dente and the squid ink sauce was a little too salty and the crushed garlic was too strong.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Black squid Miso ramen:

I ordered this because it was not spicy according to staff, but when it came it was red because they gave me this other spicy ramen by mistake.

After a while, the correct one came, but it was slightly spicy so I believed they used the same ramen but put it in the squid ink broth.
The ramen fared better than the udon because the broth was stronger.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
The ramens were a bit overpriced in my opinion.

Tasteless broth @ Gyujin

GyuJin (Tseung Kwan O)

Tried this place because all the other options were packed with people.

Chose the milk broth which was tasteless, luckily they had fried rice, plain rice and Japanese curry.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Milk broth:

Tasteless.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Japanese curry:

Luckily this tasted quite nice but the herbs in it were quite strong.
Japanese pearl rice was used for both plain rice and fried rice.
The curry tasted nice with tofu and fishballs which you can cook in the hotpot.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Icecream incident:
The icecream that they have is Haagen Daz which is hard to scoop out.
It was quite funny because someone got stressed out scooping some Baileys icecream and it made a strand of their hair fall out because it went straight in the icecream which fell in the strawberry section!

No one touched it afterwards!~
