Boisson de Plage et Soleil

Cafe Lavande

Previously tried the Cherry Clafoutis which was quite nice.
On this visit, I wanted to try the quiche but it was sold out so I got a drink instead.
There were quite a lot of non-alcoholic mocktails which was really good but quite a few of them had lavender and flowers which were not really my cup of tea.

Here are more photos of the place because it was in the evening on my last visit which was too dark for photos.

Plage et Soleil
(French meaning beach and sun in English)
Pineapple juice, coconut syrup, sparkling water water with cream on top.

A nice concoction of Monin's coconut syrup and pineapple juice.
The drink tastes better than Pina Colada because it does not have coconut milk which is quite sickly.

I found it a bit too sweet after mixing the coconut syrup at the bottom and I would have preferred more sparking water because it was not fizzy enough.
Overall, the drink tasted quite nice if it weren't too sweet.

Dessert corner at Central's Tim Ho Wan

Tim Ho Wan, the Dim-Sum Specialists (Central)
I was intending to go to Veggie Express, but it has packed up unfortunately!

Walked past Tim Ho Wan and discovered that they had a section just for takeaway desserts.

The rolls and glutinous rice balls looked interesting so decided to get them.

Red bean and custard cream roll:

Basically it was custard cream and red bean rolled up on each side.
I only tried the custard side because I don't like red bean.
The custard was quite strong and paired nicely with the soft sticky roll and the sweetness was just right.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Custard snowball:

Tried it chilled and tried it at room temperature.
I preferred it chilled because the custard taste was stronger, the custard in the middle was cooling and the glutinous pastry was chewier.
At room temperature, I could not really taste the custard and the shredded coconut taste was more prominent.

KFC's new Thai herb chicken and porchini baked rice

Kentucky Fried Chicken (Wan Chai)

Went to KFC to try the new Thai Herb chicken and rice in porchini sauce.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Thai herb chicken:

The taste of the fried chicken was ok, the herbs were not strong enough to taste it.
For Thai food, herbs such as lemongrass would spring to mind, but the fried chicken did not even have that and the the basil taste was weak too.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Baked chicken and rice in porchini sauce:

The idea of porchini sauce was good but it tasted revolting.
It just tasted like rice with thick oily rancid butter sauce mixed with soggy garlic breadcrumbs.

Toast at Honolulu Coffee Shop

Honolulu Coffee Shop (Wan Chai)

I rarely dine at these Chinese style cafes but recently I saw a captivating photo of toast at Honolulu.

When I got there, I totally forgot what toast it was, all I could remember was ham, so I ordered ham and egg toast.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Ham and egg toast:

The toast was decent, crisp on the outside and soft in the middle.
I did not like the scrambled egg because it had that typical Chinese scrambled egg taste which has no egg taste and they used margarine and not butter.
After reading the reviews I was meant to order ham and cheese, so hopefully I will order that if I do bother coming back.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Hot Coffee:
I did not like it because it tasted sour.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Cajun chicken gumbo soup from Pret A Manger

Pret A Manger (Central)

I rarely get soups from Pret because of the hot weather and it depends what soup they serve as well.

The ones that I want to try are:
Beef & Barley Broth
Brittany Fish Stew
Cajun Chicken Gumbo
Chilli Beef
Classic Pumpkin
Creamy Mussel & Leek
Creamy Smoked Onion
Field & Forest Mushroom
Gingered Carrot
Pea & Ham

They also have Asian flavours such as Miso, chicken and sweetcorn but I am not keen on Asian flavours, but saying that, they would probably taste nice being Pret style!

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cajun Chicken Gumbo:

The soup was slighty oily and spicy with lots of cajun.
I would have liked it less salty.

Eggspected to revisit Eggspectation again

Eggspectation (Tsuen Wan)

I absolutely adore this cute and colourful joint but frankly it is too far away.

Recently found out there were two new flavours which motivated me to trek all the way to Tsuen Wan.

New items:
Pandan flavoured waffles and eggettes

New beverages

New smaller box that fits the eggettes better!
Left: old box, Right: new box

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pandan kaya eggettes:

This is the second pandan eggette I have tried, the first one was at Tai O.
The one here is not green which is good because it means there is no artificial flavouring.
It would be great if the pandan flavouring could be stronger because the coconut taste was more prominent.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Egg custard eggettes:

These were fantastic and not too sweet with lots of egg custard in the middle!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Stayed tuned for Halloween because they are pumped up for Pumpkin eggettes!

Not Breakfast at Tiffany's but Breakfast at Bing's

As well as delicious afternoon Bings, they have breakfast Bings!

There were two which I wanted to try: Ham and cheese, sausage and egg.

Initially I ordered the ham and cheese but then I had second thoughts and got the sausage and egg as well.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Ham and cheese bing:
They are made in the same was as the usual bings.

They put fried eggs in the Bing which is slightly quicker than cracking an egg on the Bing!

As a signiature, all the bings have a piece of crisp in it.

The ham and cheese bing was delicious, the wrap tastes much better than bread because it is thinner so there is more proportion of ham and cheese.
The piece of crisp in the bing is further enhanced by the cheese making it taste like a cheese cracker.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Sausage and cheese bing:

Sausage patties in the container.

The sausage and egg bing is made in a similar way.

Again, this tastes similar to McD's egg and sausage muffin but better because the Bing crepe is much lighter than a muffin.
The crispy piece in the middle makes it more interesting and makes the bing more rigid in terms of structure.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
I liked the breakfast bings because they were minimalistic, there were no extra sauces, it was just the crepe, egg, crispy piece and the ingredients.
Hopefully I can get motivated another morning to get them again.
This time I will get the cheese and ham with an extra piece of sausage patty.
