Great burgers, vegetarians not left out

When I saw this place a while ago, I just couldn't wait for it to be opened.

It is on Star Street and I love the way you can see right through to Moon street.

Great views of Star Street

Great views of Moon Street

Nice bar area

The kitchen

At Beef and Liberty, they purify their own water.
For every $8 bottle of still or carbonated water sold, $5 will be donated to the local Hong Kong Cleanup charity.

Here was what we tried:
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Sticky rib fingers:

Tasty rib meat that comes off the bone easily.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Crispy chicken wings:

On the menu it actually says Korean sauce so I was expecting the sauce to taste of kimchi.
However it was just sweet and sour sauce which matched it better because not everyone likes kimchi.
The chicken wings had a lovely light crisp coating.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
BURGERS, BURGERS, BURGERS!!
It was hard choosing the burgers because I wanted to try the chicken, lamb and vegetarian.
You can also order the burger in a bowl without the bun which is served on a bed of luscious salad!!

Cheese and bacon burger:

A meaty burger with melted cheese with refreshing pickles that they pickle themselves.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Falafel burger:
The veggie burger was impressive, it was not just on the menu to please the vegetarians.
I was compelled to try this because I love falafel.
The falafel burger had a falafel patty, sesame sauce, pickles, butter lettuce, tomato and harissa yoghurt.

The burger was tastier than I imagined and better than the beef because you could taste cumin and other spices.
The chef might be offended by this comment but it reminds me of UK's McDonalds veggie burger but tastier.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Lamb:
This had Welsh lamb, mint yoghurt, cumin, pickles, butter lettuce and tomato.

I loved the lamb because of the yoghurt and juicy tomato slices but I felt that there could have been more sauce.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Sauces:
There are a choice of four sauces for the fries:
Cucumber mint yoghurt, mayo, cajun aioli and house BBQ.

My favourites were the cajun aioli, house BBQ and cucumber mint yoghurt.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Sweet potato fries:

Yay! another place that serves sweet potato fries.
Addictive crispy fries with a hint of sweetness which I felt was tasty enough without sauces to complement it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Liberty fries:

These are Russet potato fries.
Again, they were crisp and tasty on its own.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Organic tomato ketchup:

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
ginger and vanilla milkshake:

I loved this vanilla milkshake which had a strong ginger kick without the spiciness.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Desserts, desserts and desserts!!
I was really looking forward to dessert because of the apple pie and the cookie was served in a skillet.
Not many places in Hong Kong use the skillet apart from Green waffle diner and The salted pig.
When they serve the desserts, they pour the sauces from the saucepan infront of you.

Apple pie with custard:

This was a great slab of apple pie served with my favourite custard.
It had sweet big chunks of apple in it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cookies in skillet with cream:

I've never tried this before but it was really nice because the cookie was soft and chewy and the cream was just the thickest cream emulsion you could ever get with an amazing taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
..............Coming back soon for the veggie and chicken burger and of course....Dessert!!ⓢⓤⓟⓔⓡⓢⓤⓟⓔⓡⓖⓘⓡⓛ

Kamitora Ramen

Kamitora Ramen (Wan Chai)

Tried this ramen joint because there were so many good reviews on it and I did not have to queue that day.

The menu was basic with the usual ramen, gyozas etc.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Condiments:

pickled ginger, spicy beanshoots and pickled takana.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Kamitora Special $123:

The special had extra bamboo shoots worth $10 and three more slices of pork worth $29 so if you don't like bamboo shoots or pork, the ordinary one would be satisfying enough.
The average bowl of ramen at Kamitora costs around $73 to $83.

The broth was rich and creamy without being too salty, enhanced by the spring onions.
However the pork was not soft enough and the ramen as a whole did not wow me!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
BBQ pork bowl with fried egg:

Surprisingly, this was the highlight for me because the eggs were fried so perfectly and smooth that the soy sauce just runs off the surface.
The egg was really tasty as well and the rice, egg, BBQ pork and soy sauce all complimented each other perfectly.

Tsing Yi opera festival

Held every year at Tsing Yi, is the venue for tradtional Chinese opera in a temporary bamboo structure constructed with metal sheets.
It is remarkable that they can make temporary structures with bamboos and metal sheets because the usual ones we see are made with metal poles and canopies which don't look so tacky.

Anyway, I was here for the food and not for the opera because the singing frankly sounds like strangled cats with strange painted faces.
I made the mistake of coming in the day because it was too sunny and hot to enjoy the hots snacks.

In general the fried snacks were clean and delicious but a bit pricey compared to the street stalls in Mong kok.

The items I tried were:
fried stinky tofu, fried sweet potato slice, fried fishballs and fried battered radish.

New Hojicha softserve from Via Tokyo

After having a super delicious savory waffle from next door.
Decided to have some icecream.
I was contemplating on Dolci's gelato or Via Tokyo's new Hojicha flavour but since I was right next door I decided to try the Hojicha because there was no queue.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Hojicha softserve:

They provide you with a nice sturdy spoon for the icecream.
Although it was a nice big cup of softserve, I didn't like it because it was bitter, grassy and the texture was too powdery for my liking.
But anyway, everyone has different preferences for tea so if it had been a different flavour I would probably have liked it.

Mymy Caffe's new location

For those of you who have not heard of mymy caffe, it used to be a tiny coffee shed round the corner.

Anyway, I was surprised to find out that they have moved because their old joint was really unique but strangely they don't have many reviews on it.

The new location is on the 4th floor of some building.

When you arrive, you will see a bar table just like the old place.
It looks like they will have al fresco seating later on (currently under development)!!!

The rest of the decor are bits and bobs from the old place.

Since I don't drink coffee, I had the hot chocolate again which is uniquely thick and enjoyable to have.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Milano Hot Chocolate:

The thick chocolate standard has kept, it tasted as good as my previous visit.
I loved it because it was so thick you have to spoon it like a dessert and the sweetness is just right.
Half an hour after having this gorgeous hot chocolate, there was no sour aftertaste in my mouth.

A palace for great food

Although its location is a bit far off from Times Square, this restaurant has really nice European decor.

I didn't know what to expect but the food was great.
To start the meal, you are normally given baguette or bread, but at this place they have croissants as well.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Seafood bouillabaisse Served with Mussels, Prawn and Scallop

This was rich seafood soup made with 60% crabs and prawns and 40% fish.
It was fun watching the soup being poured into the bowl.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pan fried foie gras
Served with Grapefruit, Orange and Apple Puree

I loved the foie gras because it was done just right paired with refreshing citrus fruits.
The pink grapefruit and orange segments made the dish very summery.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Crab meat and avocado roll served with fish roe

Delicious fresh crab meat paired with buttery avocado flavoured by the fish roe.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Melange of Seasonal Mushroom with Black Truffle
Served with Poached Egg, Sautéed Wild Mushroom, Truffle Hollandaise Sauce, Yellow Frisse and Balsamic Vinaigrette

Mushroom and breakfast lovers are going to love this!!
Simply a delicious combination of mushrooms, black truffle and egg.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Steamed chilean seabass with baby squids, edamame and seafood broth

Delicious tender fish paired with silky foam.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Porcini Risotto
Served with Pine Nuts and Black Truffle Sauce

I loved this risotto because it was al dente with strong truffle sauce.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Grilled Canadian Pork Rack (10oz) $288
Served with Baby Spinach, Potato Puree and Apple rhubarb

The pork was nice and tender complemented by the fruity apple rhurbarb sauce.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Slow-Cooked U.S. short Rib $298
Served with Carrot Puree, Baby Onion and Beetroot Reduction

The ribs were tender and came of the bone easily.
They tasted similar to the ribs at Tony Romas with a sweet barbecue taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pan Fried Yellow Chicken $288
Served with Crispy Quinoa, Carrot Puree and Cabbabe Savoy

Tasty chicken paired with crispy and healthy quinoa.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Dessert
Panna Cotta with Mixed Berry

This was the best panna cotta I've had because the normal ones are too creamy but this one has been mixed with yoghurt which makes it taste lighter.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chocolate Custard and Banana Mille Feuille $88

An interesting Mille feuille because it was filled with chocolate and not vanilla.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
French Opera Cake $88

This was lovely and rich.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chestnut Mousse with Rong Rum $88

I don't like chestnut, but chestnut lovers are going to love this.

Cheap cha chaan teng grub for less than HK$35

Went past and saw this menu.

It made me look twice because the prices were so cheap!

There were noodles for $25 or $23 depending on what you choose.

Went in and sat down.
The other items on the menu were also cheap too!
They had Wonton style noodles starting from $16 and the most expensive item was $35.

In the end I got some junk food for $25.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
noodles with chicken wings:

I classify this as junk food the same way Chinese people classify chips and fried chicken as junk food.
The strands of noodles were nice and thin, each strand was evenly coated with oil and soy sauce.
The taste was slightly rancid but the chili sauce balanced it out.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
chili oil:

One drop of this could kill you because it was super hot!
