Cherry Lattice danish at Papillon Caffe

Found out they had a new cherry danish on their Fanpage so went there to get it.

Before I went in the restaurant, I was bursting so went to the loo but you needed a key for it.
Since it was locked, I decided to get the danish and go afterwards.

When I entered the restaurant, the guy working there was so nice, he greeted me with the magic key without me asking.

Anyway, I returned and got the cherry danish.

I got the Pain au chocolat and the Cherry danish which looks like a cherry danish lattice.

Pain au chocolat:

This was nice after it was warmed up, the pastry was flakey and soft with deliciously melted chocolate inside with a buttery fragrance.

cherry danish lattice:

This was my favourite because it was loaded with tart cherries complemented by the sweet buttery pastry.

I love Cali-Mex

As soon as I saw this place being done up I just couldn't wait for it to open.

The exciting thing is that there are four branches and the one at LKF is open till late.
In the UK it is usally a greasy kebab after clubbing but in Hong Kong the trend will be burritos!

I tried the first branch as soon as it opened on Wellington street.
When you go in, you are greeted with Mexican sodas and warm orange decor.

There is seating upstairs and this branch is a mirror image of the Wanchai branch where the stairs and food counters are on the other side.

Before you order, you can see the delicious sauces, salads and meats.

The crispy shell bowls are huge!!!

There was a tray filled with avocados, a key ingredient for guacamole.

Choices are headaches because all of them are good.

First you choose your filling then you decide whether you want a taco, quesadilla, burrito bowl/burritos or the crispy shell bowl!!

I had my eye on the Spinach and Venice beach, but in the end I got the Venice beach because there were so many ingredients in it that i haven't tried such as tofu sour cream and vegan mock chicken which the other Mexican places in Hong Kong don't offer.

I loved the bowls here because they are flatter than the ones at Little Burro which makes it easier to eat.
Each mouthful was tasty with rice, lettuce, tasty sauce, guacamole and salsa.
To be honest I was still hungry after the bowl!!

Luckily, I shared a chicken quesadilla with someone and that was amazing, I loved the melted cheese in between with the chicken, sour cream and guacamole.
The quesadilla was soft and crispy.

After I finished, I sampled the fillings and I must admit the chicken in ranchero sauce was so tangy with gorgeous herbs to flavour it.
They used white meat and it was tender and soft.

The pork in chipotle BBQ sauce was nice and smokey and the pork was fresh.

Both tasted strong which go well in tacos and burritos.

Beer jelly for your beer belly!

I got this dessert because it looked like a glass of beer with foam on top.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Beer jelly:

Surprisingly, it actually had beer in it so they should warn people that it contains alcohol or 18+.
The foam layer on the top which I thought was going to taste sweet was not sweet!
It was whipped egg white and gelatin with a strong beer taste!!

Then beneath that layer was a beer jelly which had a strong beer taste with a hint of sweetness.

After a while, you can feel yourself getting a bit tipsy!

Reggae and food at Rummin' Tings

As my town was no where near Birmingham in the UK I did not get to try the Caribbean joints there which served the basics such as curry goat, beef stew and jerk chicken.

Finally tried my first dose of Caribbean food in Sai Kung, a famous Caribbean restaurant that initially started out as a private kitchen.
Since then I have been addicted to Caribbean cuisine so when this opened I had to try it out.

Rummin' Tings is a bar pumping amazing Reggae music with a variety of rum cocktails.

I only tried the saltfish accra that night because I already had dinner.

It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with a delicious piping hot filling revved up by the spicy sauce and tamarind sauce.
I couldn't quite taste the saltfish but you could feel the silky fish texture in it.

666 Halloween pizza

Halloween is drawing closer so I had the Halloween set which costs a devilish $666 that includes chicken wings, garlic bread, four non alcoholic drinks, ONE Halloween pizza, pasta and a dessert.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
There are three different Halloween pizzas: Ghost house pizza, Spider web and spooky eyes!!

Ghost house pizza :

The ghost pizza was the simplest but most delicious because it had 'Nduja' which is a spicy, spreadable pork sausage from Italy.
It was a salty and meaty chili sauce which really gave life to a dead pizza that had so many ghosts on it!!

Spider web:
The spider web has ham, olives and mushrooms

Spooky eyes:

The spooky eyes has salami, olives and mascarpone on a charcoal dough pizza.
I liked this one because of the creamy mascarpone and smoked salami.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Torture:

A plate of torture!!!
Delicious al-dente pasta with a thneringer sausage and pieces of bacon.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Dessert:
The Halloween feast was finished with a burning dessert, crisp pizza slices paired with icecream.

Taiwanese style KFC

Saw some new items at KFC so decided to try them.

Tried the Taiwanese style fried chicken and the Pineapple egg tart

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Taiwanese style fried chicken

The fried chicken tasted the same as the usual fried chicken but it was saltier and the Taiwanese salt and pepper flavourings were not prominent enough.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pineapple egg tart

I don't like KFC's Portuguese egg tarts but tried it because it had pineapple in the middle.
After taking a bite, you could see pineapple puree.

I actually liked this one because the pineapple puree tasted really nice and fruity and the pineapple taste was more prominent than the egg custard.
As usual, the pastry is very oily and the whole tart is very sweet.
