A bit too salty at 豆花妹撈米線

I was still hungry so got some noodles from here.

They had chicken wings in fermented beancurd sauce so I decided to get it as well.

Noodles:
The noodles at this branch were salty compared to the other branches.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chicken wings in fermented beancurd sauce:

Unfortunately I could not taste any fermented beancurd.

Round 1: Magic mushrooms

I came here especially for these magic mushrooms, they won't send you on a trip but they will sure tantalize your tastebuds.

They are basically buns filled with chopped mushrooms and truffle coated in edible brown powder to look like they were just plucked from the soil.

These buns were delicious with warm mushrooms in the middle covered in fragrant truffle sauce.

Apart from the food, this restaurant was surreal, the menu is like a catalog of pastel bowls and dishes with food.

The presentation is wonderful, food is presented like art and in a Western way.

The bowl with flies on it as part of the design will make the elderly or food inspectors look twice which they probably don't find it amusing, the same as carrying a fake gun into the airport.

Anyway, everything was good but the bill took a while to arrive because I messaged my friend who was also dining there to say bye but I was still there for quite some time.

He later messaged me to say that his bill took ages to come after requesting it too.

Round 2: Magic mushrooms

Walked past and saw the poster for these mushroom buns, the new dimsum craze.

Tried these mushroom buns for the first time at Social Place in Central.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
mushroom buns:
Compared to Social place, you get two in a portion and they are slightly bigger.

They had a stalk at the bottom as well.

Inside the bun, it was filled with chicken in cream sauce but not much of it.
The texture of the bun was fluffier than the bun at Social place but the filling at Social place was better.

Stir fried noodles with abalone slices:

There was not much abalone in it but the noodles were quite nice, each strand was not too soft and it was not oily.

Back for pies and sausages

The weather is cooler now which makes it perfect for fish and chips because this joint has no air conditioning.
I was back for the pie and sausages.
For drinks they have both Chinese style tea and English tea but if you don't specify which one they will give you the Chinese one.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Both these were pork sausages, one battered and one normal.
I know these sausages are fat and unhealthy but they taste nice.
Battered sausage:

The battered one was heavy but adding vinegar to it makes it so much nicer.

Steak and Kidney Pie:

Nice pie with a flakey pastry, it was filled with rich gravy and pieces of steak and kidney in the middle.

Addicted to eating snow at Snow Story

At Snow story, they specialize in Macaron icecream sandwiches and snow desserts!!

Had two desserts.

The price was confusing because on the first visit, they did not ask me which size I wanted and gave me the big one but on the second visit I was given the smaller size which is evidently different in price.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Macaron:
I ordered this one because of the tiny macarons.
When it came, there was a scoop of icecream and chocolate syrup which I did not ask for and it was not on the product shot.

The strawberry icecream ruined it because the strawberry taste was extremely artificial.

The snow beneath it was not sweetened because they give you a side of condensed milk to add it it.
The condensed milk was not a good thing to add to it because it does not go on evenly and clumps the snow around it together.
It would be great if they had a shaker filled with sugar.

Cute macarons.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Original:

This was much nicer because it had chewy mochi in it but I can't understand why they give you these weird Chinese shaped spoons which make it difficult to eat with.
The Korean video shown at the desserterie shows a metal spoon, so why do they give you an unergonomic Chinese spoon here??!!

Yo! What a good thickshake!

Saw this listed but I wasn't motivated to go but then my dearest LLWL showed me pics so I decided to go there!
I got it for half price because they have just opened and I hope to make another trip there soon to try the other flavours.

Basically you choose a flavour, then you pick milkshake style or thickshake style.

If you choose the milkshake style, there are more options to choose from such as adding topping and a scoop of icecream to it!

The toppings are shown on the train.

Icecream selection:

I went for thickshake because there's nothing like a good American style thickshake with icecream blended in.

The thickshake arrived surprisingly fast and they were able to make it less sweet as requested.

I had the Taro thickshake and it tasted amazing because it was real thick blended with sweet icecream in it with a hint of Taro.
I really appreciated the colour because most taro flavours are lilac which means the taro flavouring here has no colouring :)

Anyway, hope to try the Green Tea thickshake next.

The menu was a bit difficult to see though because it is below the freezer cabinet, so you have to crouch down and read it or read it from a distance if your not short sighted!!
Anyway, fear not, they have menus at the counter.

Leave with Joy after having desserts at Joyful

Before I went in, there were so many desserteries nearby so competition is tough.
I have already tried Next Station so went here.

The place was relaxing and comfortable.

There were stylish things here and there.

Huge mug!!

Here was what we had.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Green tea rolls:

I loved the green tea sheets which were rolled with cream and red beans inside.
The texture was like firm jelly with a fragrant green tea taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Uji matcha iceberg:

This was a lovely scoop of green tea icecream on a bed of red beans topped with egg white souffle on top.
I loved the souffle and icecream.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chocolate fondue:
The chocolate fondue is probably the best dessert fondue I have had because they have paired it with the right fruits.
In Hong Kong, some places don't serve it right because they give you Asian fruits such as melon and other weird items which don't go with chocolate.

Both the strawberries and bananas were delicious dipped in hot chocolate.

The portion was really good too, there was quite a fair bit of strawberries and bananas.
