Christmas burger at Texas Burger

Went here during the Xmas period.

Tried the new lamb burger and the PP burger.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chocolate trilogy:

Started off with the chocolate trilogy milkshake which had a rich chocolate taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pulled lamb burger:

The lamb burger was really good because it was pulled pieces of lamb with melted cheese on top, a great alternative to pulled pork but I have liked more cheese on top.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
PP burger:

This was my favourite because PP stands for Portobello mushroom and Prosciutto.
The prosciutto was a nice surprise because it was crispy and delicious and the portobello mushroom was juicy and earthy.

A lovely light burger that is not totally vegetarian but people who are not fond of meat will probably fall for this.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Camembert wedges with strawberry sauce:

The camembert wedges were gooey and stringy inside like mozzarella cheese with a light camembert taste.

A swing of Italian flair at the WTC at No.5 Italian

Tried this restaurant because it was a new branch of the No.5 Italian at Tai Hang.

The environment was modern and comfortable with a nice seaview.

Started off with bread which was held in a flour bag.

Then we had juicy grilled portobello mushrooms with cheese and sweet balsamic vinegar.

It was followed by a creative plate of caramel apple salad.
The apples were sweet with a fragrant buttery taste.

After that we had toast with Iberian ham and white truffle.
The saltiness of the Iberian ham went well with the white truffle.

Next was my favourite because the pizza had ham and fig which was scrumptious, the amount of ham on the pizza was generous.

For the main course we had linguine in creamy white truffle sauce which I felt was too creamy.

Then we had Silician red prawn risotto which was my favourite because it was flavourful with chunks of prawn and asparagus in the risotto.

Last but not least the beef cheek with parpadelle was marvellous because the beef cheek was extremely soft and gelatinous and the parpadelle hung that delicious sauce on it.

Grilled mochi pancake from 明華餅家

Thanks to Mungkk for getting me this.
I don't often buy from Chinese bakeries so I probably miss out on some good items.

The thing I had was like a mochi pancake filled with custard and slightly grilled.
It was not too sweet and interesting to eat.

Bubbling sukiyaki on a cold day at 醉串

I was going to have the cheese fondue again but I had too much cheese this week so I had the Sukiyaki instead and a few other skewers.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Seafood Shabu Shabu $228:

The seafood shabu shabu came in a sweet sukiyaki broth which had a nice smokey flavour.
There were giant prawns in the pot and my favourite tofu pieces.
My friend was really hungry so ordered extra pork slices ($58) and udon ($22).

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chongqing style grilled chicken $18:

This was my favourite because I love chicken, it was grilled to perfection with some crispy edges and I loved the bold Sichuan spices.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Grilled Chicken wings $18:

Again more chicken because I felt like having chicken that night.
Delicately flavoured with a crispy skin.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Grilled salted fish head:

I loved this because we were given the jaw part which was moist and very gelatinous with lots of jelly like cartilage.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Grilled pineapple $20:

To finish off, had some grilled juicy pineapple.

2014 Christmas at Häagen-Dazs

Had my favourite chocolate fondue at Haagen Dazs which comes with cute little scoops of icecream that you dip in the chocolate.

Green tea and chocolate taste the best, while the strawberry and banana slices are a nice fruity option.
For Chocolate rain fans, there is a Chocolate rain fondue set.

At this gathering, I also tried the Classic milk icecream which had a rich creamy milk flavour.

For drinks we had the pink fantasy and winter romance which is made for strawberry lovers!

Other Christmas desserts at Haagen Daz:
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
dazzling winter:
three scoops of selected icecream with roasted banana and brownies

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Christmas Wishes:
creme brulee with an icecream of your choice and another two scoops of icecream.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
The gift of xmas:
fresh fruits, classic milk icecream and another two scoops of selected icecream.

Umai scam Neh!

They sell the salad by weight.

Before you pick your salad, you have to choose a pasta or salad base which takes up most of the box so you are paying mainly for the pasta/salad.

After you have chosen your salad/pasta they do not weigh it and they only give you a tiny pinch of salad from the cabinet to feed a mouse!
They only let you choose two items which is pathetic, at Tallore they give you a huge box and you are allowed to choose as many items as you want as long as the box is big enough.

It is so rubbish that you can't just choose the salad from the counter because it has to come with the compulsory pasta or plain salad leaves to fill up the box.

I had an the garland Chrysanthemum and beef, potato mentaiko and pasta.
The pasta base was awful and clumped together because it was chilled in the fridge for too long.
Personally I feel that Japanese soba noodles would be better than pasta because this is meant to be Japanese joint.

Tried the wrong item at 西香記 (紅磡)

Walked past and saw this interesting joint which specializes in Rou jia mo.

Rou jia mo (meat burger/sandwich) is a street snack that originates from the Shaanxi Province and now widely consumed all over China.
In China, different provinces will have different variation in fillings.

☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Original Rou jia mo:

Unfortunately, the one I had was tasteless and had lots of oil dripping from it.

The vinegar made it slightly better.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Although I didn't like the food, it was good that they put effort into the design of the packaging and there is a QR code on the back of the bag.

To summarize I made the wrong decision in ordering this because the noodles that other people ordered looked so much better.
If I happen to be in the area again, I am going to try those noodles.
