Eat and play during Easter!

Chocolate rain is a well known brand adored by everyone.

I have always wanted to try this place when they started this Eat and Play experience at PMQ because you get to literally eat and play but it was hard trying to persuade someone to come with me.

For Easter, the eat and play includes a six course meal with egg painting.

The six course meal is prepared by a chef who used to work for a Michelin Three star restaurant.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tomato Tomato:

steamed lettuce, corn custard, cucumber, tea air.
The corn custard was a sweetcorn consomme jelly which melted in your mouth with sweet umami flavours.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
mini savory surprise:

This was a delight with light foamy whipped cheese and a crisp cheese cracker.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
My dumpling:
chives, scallop, bonito broth, sesame, snow fungus

A nourishing soup with a gelatinous piece of snow fungus
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
spring is coming:
avocado salsa, parmesan, market salad, eggplant and more

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
shrimps land:

This was a bowl of pretty pastel colours containing springy prawns, potatoes and prawn crackers tossed in a buttery sauce.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Sweet sweet me:

This was a light and dreamy molecular creme brulee with a fragrant caramel taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
mini sweet surprise:

Finished with this pretty dessert that was garnished with refreshing lime dust and airy whipped cream followed by tea.

DALLOYAU in the 21st Century

To be honest I didn't know this French brand dates back to the 17th Century with many branches in Japan.
They sell macarons and cakes so decided to try a macaron and cake.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Macarons:

The pistachio had a crisp shell and a soft centre with pistachio and almond flavouring.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
rocher $58:

This was a new cake and it had a lovely caramel tone to it with fiery ginger notes.

Next time I am going to try their chocolates!

My 6th visit to Putien

This is my sixth visit here and the food is always good. The other visits have not been written up because I usually have the same items but this time I had different dishes which were good as well that makes me wonder why they havent made it in the Michelin guide yet they have been recommended by the British newspaper The Guardian.

Anyway, here was what I had:
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Spinach with Salted Egg & Century Egg in Supreme Stock:

The spinach was delicious because it was covered in thick sauce which had lots of crushed preserved egg in it that gave it a burst of flavour.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Crispy fish slices in Fermented Red Rice Wine :

This was absolutely divine because the slices of fish were extremely thin and crispy with a silky centre covered in thick fermented rice wine sauce.
The portion was a bit too small though and they were difficult to pick up with chopsticks.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Potato noodles in Putien style sauce:
As well as the rice vermicelli, this is another great noodle dish because the gravy was delicious.

Again, they were hard to pick up with chopsticks otherwise I would have finished this dish within a flash!

No Home Economics lessons here at Home Economics

In the UK, Home Economics is a subject which I did not study so I will not go into further details.
However I am quite curious how they got this name but then in the States, Home Econ means something different so they would have some American influence.

Saturday is my discovery day so I will always go and eat something interesting, normally I will go to Central of Sheung Wan for Western food so I had to sacrifice not going there.

The reason I went here was the lunch menu which changes every week so if I did not try it this week then it might change the next Saturday.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Black Sesame bread:

The bread was crusty and soft in the middle so it qualified as a good Western bread but not my cup of tea because the black sesame flavour was too Asian for my liking.
Plain or herbs would be good.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Starter:
One of the starters was sold out so had the salad.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chicken steak with coconut rice and fermented red beancurd gravy:

The chicken steak was perfectly pan fried because the chicken was succulent and juicy with a crispy coating.
I would have preferred plain rice because the coconut was a bit too strong and there was not enough sauce so I had to eat it sparingly.
It then occurred to me that I could ask for more sauce which I did and the extra sauce was just magic because the red beancurd sauce was really fragrant and enhanced the taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tea:

Unfortunately it was the usual Chinese red tea so it was really bitter.

Candy floss suyiyaki at Nabe Urawa

An intense 90 minute shabu shabu experience!

Basically you get 90 minutes of shabu shabu time and the cheapest one starts at $158 and the most expensive one costs $318 depending on the beef you choose.
There is a good variety of beef selections ranging from the US to Australia.
Although the US beef is the cheapest, it was my personal favourite because it is lean!!!

As well as the wonderful selection of vegetables, dumplings, curry and fried rice, they have sashimi and seafood which is also included in the buffet so I suggest ordering that first while the shabu shabu heats up.

The noodles are a must try because the texture is really good and absorbs the broth nicely.

There are various of teas and sweet treats such as froyo, popcorn and candyfloss!

I had fun making candyfloss and it was really easy, all you do is pour sugar into the machine and once floss starts to appear, you use the stick to wind it into candyfloss!

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Suyiyaki broth:
At Nabe, they put candyfloss in Sukiyaki instead of sugar!~
I thought I heard it wrong but it was really candyfloss.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Beef:

Pork:

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Beef curry and rice:

If shabu shabu and sashimi is not enough, they have curry beef and rice.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Supersupergirl style froyo with candyfloss!

Since they had froyo and candyfloss, I decided to top the froyo with candyfloss saving myself $4X that you would pay in Korean desserties.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
I enjoyed the experience and it was good that it was not all beef.

Rose garden at LabMade

Saw pretty pictures of the Rose garden icecream at Labmade so decided to get it.

The rose garden was a smooth strawberry yogurt ice cream with real strawberry pieces and a layer of refreshing passion fruit sauce in the centre decorated with handmade meringue roses and red chocolate hearts.

This is definitely my favourite so far because I love natrual tasting strawberry yoghurt and the refreshing passion fruit sauce was balanced by the sweetness of the chocolate pieces.

I also had the banana custard cake which had real pieces of banana in it that was simply delicious.

Beefy warrior meal at Wasabi Warriors (Central)

Came back again to try the Warrior meal, there were lots of rolls and bites to choose from.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Crumbled chicken with avocado (left) and cooked tuna (right)

Both were tasty and fresh but I wish there was more filling and it would be good if the rice could be softer.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Soft shell crab and fresh scallop bite

The soft shell crab was tasty but again the rice was too dense.
As for the salmon bite, it was sweet glazed with Japanese mayonnaise and avocado.
