McDonald's Hawaiian chicken McDelight (Hong Kong)

After trying the McDelight chili beef, I decided to try the chicken.

Hawaiian chicken McDelight:

Unfortunately, it was not as tasty as the chili beef because it was very salty with bits of bacon as well as chicken.
The pineapple didn't make it taste any better because it was cloyingly sweet.

Purple Potato with Smokey Bacon icecream at Lab Made

Found out from social media that there was a new Purple Potato with Smokey Bacon icecream at Lab Made, so went there for it.

Basically, it was a lilac coloured fragrant ice cream mixed with lots of starchy purple sweet potatoes topped with more purple potato mash, whipped cream and bacon!
It was a nice pairing of mildly savoury purple potato and bacon which was delicious and in the middle, there were rice crispies which gave it a nice crunch that amplifiied the crispy texture of bacon.

Lab Made has successfully established themselves as the number one nitrogen icecream in HK.
The good news is that they have HOMIES, which are tubs that you can buy to take home available in four popular flavours.

-Almond Chocolate Vanilla (杏仁朱古力雲呢拿 HK$105),
-Fancy Ferrero (金之莎 HK$120),
-HK Custard Bun (奶皇包 HK$120),
-Sea Salt Milk Gelato with Caramel (海鹽牛奶焦糖 HK$120).
All HOMIES will be packaged with Dry Ice to keep it cool.

I got the HK Custard Bun which is crammed with lots of salted custard egg yolk filling and extremely addictive.
It was definitely good having the tub because you can really dig in with a big metal spoon!

All you can eat dimsum brought to u by Mr Weather at Loyal Dining

All you can eat dim sum brought to you by Loyal Dining and Mr Weather.
Mr Weather is a fictional character who brings you the weather forecast everyday.
Despite being struck by lighting, frozen to ice and burnt by the scorching sun, he does not die!

Anyway, I was attracted to the all you can eat dimsum because the I love dim sum and the hours are hours are from 2-6 pm which is pretty good for people who get up late.

They are currently doing a promotion on Instagram so if you post a photo and # the relevant tags you get a free bag.

Photo that was posted on my ig supersupergirlhk

Tried the Mr Weather platter, which is a mix of dim sums.

The Sichuan dumplings were the best because they were spicy contrasted by the fragrant Chinese celery.

Cute eggtarts.

Steamed custard buns with a lovely runny centre.

DTC stands for Dumpling Tea & Coffee!

Found out about this dumpling joint Thanks to LLWL.

The name DTC captivated me because DTC stands for dumplings, tea and coffee.

They have designed the name nicely so that the dumpling has a D inside it, while the teacup has a T in the middle and the coffee cup has a C in it.
The decor was interesting because it definitely had nothing to do with dumplings.
There was a reindeer on the menu and two reindeers above the counter which can't be related to dumplings.

There was also this Chinese Emperor poster thing.

It has definitely succeeded hitting the expat market because the dumplings choices are good.

I went for the cheese and bacon dumpling.

Since the name is called Dumplings, Tea and Coffee, you would expect DTC to have lots of choices on dumplings, tea and coffee.
The choice of dumplings were good because they had truffle as well but for Tea and Coffee, the choices were extremely POOR.

For teas, it was just HK milk tea, there was lemon tea as well but the tea is made from the same red tea base.

I wish there were more Western teas or Chinese leaf teas.

As for coffee, there were only two choices either coffee or cappuccino.

Anyway, the food took about 15 minutes to arrive.

Here was what I had:
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Cheese, bacon and pork dumplings:

I thought I was going to see bacon and cheese but I couldn't see any, however there was cheese and bacon taste to it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Chicken roll:

When it came, it reminded me of greasy kebabs in the UK but unfortunately it wasn't because they don't have them here.
The chicken roll was a bit oily but it tasted nice, it was chicken, julienne cucumbers and carrots wrapped in a crispy roti!
It was quite a nice roll because the chicken was tender and springy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
To be honest, the food was good but it didn't fulfill the T and C part of the name hence the OK rating.

Back at the Green Waffle Diner again

Since my last visit a few years ago they now have another branch in CWB but I still prefer the branch in Central.
Although there is more variety at CWB, the choices are more popular with locals.
At this place, you just can’t miss the skillets, sandwiches, benedicts and waffles.

Here was what we had:

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Green tea milkshake:

This was a good thick milkshake with a strong green tea taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Mac and cheese:

This was cheesy mac and cheese that is best shared because it can get a bit heavy after having some but I liked the macaroni they used because it was proper macaroni and not the local ribbed ones.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Steak and egg hash skillet:

Basically, I loved the crispy potato bits, mushroom and cheese which went together nicely.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Eggs benedict:

The eggs benedict was nicely done with a thick slice of ham which made it tasty.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Fried chicken and waffles:

As expected, the chicken was springy with a crisp coating.
For the sides, you can choose potatoes or melon slices.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Pandan waffle:

The pandan waffle is the star of this place because it has a aromatic pandan scent and taste but I wish they served pandan milkshake as well.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Buckwheat waffle:

The buckwheat waffle had a bit more texture which helps digestion.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
The green tea latte was really pretty and deserves a picture but I found it a bit too bitter and grassy.

Simplest and cheapest basic burger

For most people, the McDonald's hamburger is probably the first burger we had in life.
After having all these expensive burgers I felt like a simple beef burger so got McDonalds hamburger.

The burger is always consistent in taste and only fails when there is not enough sauce or the patty/bun is too dry but otherwise it should be ok.

The beef burger was ok on this visit with sufficient tomato ketchup and mustard to make it tasty contrasted by the sour slice of guerkin which you either like or hate.

Fiery place at Little Chilli

Went here ages ago and tried some spicy dishes.
Close to City Garden Hotel, this place is a popular place for Mainlanders who like spicy foods and they can pay using the RMB with a 20% discount as well.

The mouth watering chicken was a good start, tender pieces of chicken drenched in fiery chili oil.

Then we had the prawns in chili which was not very spicy even though it looked spicy.

The chicken on the other hand was very spicy and crispy.

The food is ok but the staff are agitated.
