Lunch sets at the TABLE

Came here last year for dinner and it was fabulous but it was hard for me to try it again because there are so many new restaurants to try.
Found out that they serve lunch so went there to check it out.
The decor was pretty much the same but it looks really relaxing in the daytime.

For lunch, there is a good range of choices and you get to freely choose what you want.

Here was what I had:
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Italian mussel with green tea jelly:

I was given this to start with, which is an Italian mussel on Green tea jelly.
The first item was impressive already because it was a fresh sweet mussel paired with sweet fragrant green tea jelly.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Bread and tomato salsa:

Next was the bread which soft with a lovely yeasty taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Seafood tea $68:

For starters, I went for the seafood tea which is slightly different from the usual bouillabaise because it was much lighter yet the taste was strong.
I liked the way, they put aniseed which gives it a mild bitter kick which is similar to that strong taste you get in Chinese herb soups.

The Halibut was tasty with a flakey texture and the clam was sweet and I really appreciated the soup was very hot and kept hot for a while.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Pan-fried rare French duck breast, duck jus $138:

This was a surprise because it was served on a bed of Taro mash! I love taro mash!
The duck was velvety and juicy while the skin on top was crispy.
It was good how they scored the duck skin so that it helps to get the skin crispy when it is pan-fried.

As expected the taro mash was really thick and fragrant, a better substitute to potato because the strong flavours of taro pair better with duck.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Apple salted caramel cake, miso ice cream $68:

For dessert I had this caramel cake which was satisfying because its not something I can get at other restaurants.
There was a layer of cake, pineapple, caramel layer with glistening caramel sauce on top.
The best thing was that it was not too sweet but the striking tastes of salted caramel and miso icecream came through enhanced by the salty crispy chorizo pieces on top.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Earl Grey tea:

Finished off with an Earl Grey tea which is always a perfect ending.

Ramen at Kuroganeya

Came here because I like eating in Wan Chai and quite a few of my friends said this place was good.
I liked it because they have chicken broth.
There isn't an English menu but I had the one with shredded pork which was much nicer and lean.

The egg was perfect and the egg yolk was fluid.

I didn't think I was going to like the noodles but they turned out to be nice because they were egg noodles and hung the soup nicely.

Lunch boxes that weighs a TONNE at 良記美食

I am currently trying the eateries at Tai O Building so tried this place.
Basically you just choose two items with rice so I chose the fried fish and the egg and tomato.

The egg and tomato at the next stall looks better but I will try that later.

Anyway, the egg and tomato here was a bit sweet and the fried fish was surprisingly good because it remained crispy after travelling.

Most lunch boxes weigh the same but the lunch boxes here are so heavy and dense that it is amazing how much rice they compacted in the box!!!

The menu was quite pretty and I liked the way they put effort into sticking crystals to make it sparkly!

Ahimsa buffet

I really wanted to try this place when it opened but there were too many people so I decided to check it out later when it was quieter.
Went early during the middle of the week and there were only a few people.

The choice was ok but not exciting because they didn't have curries or something that you could just have with rice.
As I say, it always depends if you're there at the right tiime and moment.

I spotted something that was potentially delicious, which was soft dried bean curd sheets topped with spring onion and ginger.
It tasted really good as expected but unfortunately it was too salty so I took a sip of the tea but it was sweet.

The soup was the typical soup which has a ginger taste.
Dessert soup was ok.

Sai ying pun tour at Kam Kee Cafe

Not keen on bingsuts, but it seems that everyone is trying this.
There is another branch in Wan Chai.

Went here after going to Chau Kee so I was quite full.
Tried the noodles but it is part of a set, so you get fried egg and buttered bread.

The instant noodles that they use are the Fook Brand which comes with seasoning.

I tried it without the seasoning and it wasn't that bland so I suggest trying it without the seasoning first.

The egg was better than expected because it had a nice soft texture which went nicely with the bread.

New molten Green tea toast at Chau Kee

Went here again because there is a new green tea molten toast.

I didn't have to queue because I went in the evening so I got a table pretty easily.
On each table, there are some stylish teapots.

Ordered the toast and sesame prawn toast.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
sesame prawn toast:

The toast was perfectly fried, the prawn paste was a pretty light pink colour and it was pure white which means there are no prawn guts in it.
They tasted as good as the ones in the UK.
The sesame prawn toast is paired with salad cream but personally I prefer a wedge of lemon or ketchup.

I don't normally describe prawn paste as fluffy, but it was light and fluffy because it was like finely chopped pieces of prawn crammed on the toast and then covered with sesame.
It tasted good because the prawns were not blended with flour and the small pieces of finely chopped prawn gives it that springy texture and full on pure prawn taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Molten green tea and red beans toast:

A lovely French toast oozing with green tea and red bean filling that was not too sweet.

Sweet Quesadillas at 食好D

Went here because of the weird Quesadillas filled with green paste.

The green paste is not guacamole but matcha, condensed milk and mozzarella cheese.
The cheese and matcha paste was not evenly mixed and the cheese was in the middle.
I took a bite which only had matcha paste and it was quite nice because it tastes like custard.
As I got to the middle, there was some cheese which was luckily tasteless or the cheesiness would have ruined the taste.

I also tried the chicken with Hainan spicy sauce quesadilla and it was too spicy but Thankfully it was not the sweet Chinese chili sauce.

It was pretty good with chicken and melted cheese as filling but I will request for less chili sauce next time.
+++++++++++++++
Singed fried rice:

I wonder if rice is getting expensive these days, because most places are using Japanese pearl rice which is horrible, why don't they use Indian rice.
Anyway, the fried rice had quite a charred taste and smell because nearly every grain of rice was singed by the flames when it got tossed in the air.
Nice and carcinogenic!
Not much taste but all you could taste was burnt rice.
