Morleys and Heinz pop up at The Standard!! Fried chicken with CAVIAR!!!!

Greasy spoons food at its finest: Norman's Cafe

Finally paid Norman's a visit which is located quite near Tufnell Park station.
Would have visited earlier if I knew it was that accessible.
The problem is, the items on the menu are a hit and miss because you can't call them to ask what's on that day or on instagram because no one replies.
It turns out all the fancy items like frazzles, pink custard, scotch eggs, Chips & Curry sauce, Cheese on toast, Scouse, Jam Roly-Poly, Dippy egg & Marmite, Kippers on toast, English Trifle, artic roll, Manchester pudding, Poached plums with cream etc are elusive.
On weekdays, the menu is more basic probably due to footfall but even on a late weekday afternoon, the place was full.
At Norman's kitchen, it is basically greasy spoon caff food with quality ingredients.
Although it is a bit pricier than the regular greasy spoons, the food is original and taken to the next level.
I opted for the bubble and squeak, egg and cheese muffin with brown sauce and rice pudding with jam.
Overall, I was impressed as the delicate bubble and squeak did not have any unpleasant oil taste from the grill, same goes for the egg which was topped with quality Maldon salt.
The rice pudding was comforting and I think there were pieces of date in it if my taste buds serve me correct.
Would love to return for the fancier items as well.

Cherry bakewell milkshake at Capos Desserts, Seven Kings

I was looking for drinks at Seven Kings where there were so many bubble tea shops.
Ended up at Capos because of the Cherry Bakewell milkshake.
It was not a bad milkshake but couldn't quite taste the almond or cherry.
Visually it lacked a cherry to garnish, however it was nice as you could taste that it was a whole cherry Bakewell tart blended with vanilla ice cream.
Anyway, the staff could have been more informative when I asked what was in the milkshakes instead of me suggesting what was in it like ice cream or milk because I don't exactly work there!!

Savoury oats at Oatis!!

Finally! Savoury oats served and I am so glad I came here for it.
Oatis could probably be the first place in London serving savoury oats.
Savoury oats aren't new but it's good to see an establishment serve them because of acceptance and demand/supply.

There are four to choose from:
The Steel Cut Club (chicken, bacon and avocado)
Sesame Miso Salmon (salmon, pickles, avocado)
Hippie Bowl (vegetarian)
The Seoul Bowl (pork, soft boiled egg)

I love the savoury options here because you can see they've actually thought about the pairing and how it all goes together.
Tried the Steel Cut Club and changed the zhoug chicken to a soft boiled egg because eggs and bacon is the ultimate food of Gods for an English style breakfast/brunch.
I am so happy they accommodated which took it to the next level.
Again, I was impressed they served it with crispy bacon because it only works well as it is much more flavourful.
Would love to see a savoury breakfast oat option with the usual suspects like egg, bacons and sausage and possibly black pudding.

The other one we had was the Sesame Miso Salmon which was another tasty option because of the pickles.
The salmon was much nicer than anticipated because it was salted so you don't get that fishiness and the texture was flaky yet not dry complimented by the amazing pickles!
It would be good if there were some nori/wakame in it.

You will find the steel cut oats very different to instant oats because they are a lot chunky like barley oats and the texture is just like creamy rice pudding but with much more fibre.

I don't normally eat at this stretch but was motivated here by Oatis.
Before I visited, tried to phone as well as enquire on instagram but didn't get a reply.

Pasta at Lina Stores

Lina Stores! Another pasta bar which is rapidly expanding!
Tried the Casarecce alla Calabrese, Ravioli di Pollo e Funghi finished with an affogato.
The star if the show was the chicken ravioli in a onion mushroom sauce glaze.
You will find pulled chicken pieces in the ravioli but I felt that a bit more sauce and mushrooms would be nice.
The prawn Casarecce was a bit disappointing because the prawns and pasta seemed disconnected and somehow you can get this sort of stuff as ready meals in the supermarkets.
Last but not least, the affogato was not that good because the ice cream was rather icy.

LinLan tea at Teaknows 茶以知人 - Bloomsbury

Someone got me some really nice LinLan Tea from this place.
I would not have visited myself because it was a bit intimidating.
The LinLan tea I had was to my liking because at 30% sugar and less ice it was really thirst quenching and aromatic.
It was topped with a nice cream tower with some stuff on it.
Since it was really nice, I decided to pop in the shop and have a look and ask them what the stuff was on top but all I got was just Cream Tower even though I tried to ask what the pieces were.
Luckily on deliveroo there is more information, so I found out they were nuts and not red beans which takes the tea to another level.
Also tried the sweet melon tea which was nice but I didn't appreciate the milk in it because milk does not work with these green teas.
When I asked about this other tea, she poured a sample to let me SMELL only, whereas other places would just let you try it.
However, the guy was much nicer and let me sample the melon tea without milk which was nice as expected.

Sour Cherry soda at Darlish

Ice Cream is obviously what Darlish specializes in but I went against the grain and had a drink.
As fan of Cherry, I didn't hesitate to get the SOUR cherry soda at Darlish.
Priced at £5, I was quite upset when I saw it being made that I didn't even want it because I was expecting it to be made with soda water or the sparkling Evian cans in the fridge and not Sprite.
To make it even worse it was Sprite Zero which has these awful sweeteners.
Overall, I didn't like the drink because of the sweetness which defeats the purpose of being a sour cherry drink.
On top of that I didn't like the overpowering taste of sprite which they should have renamed the drink Sprite and sour cherry.
If I wanted to drink Sprite, I would get it myself not for a fiver.
I know Darlish specializes in ice cream but I thought the Sour Cherry soda was unique which was why I got it.
