30% Extra large scary-big-boorrito for Halloween

Little Burro (Causeway Bay)

Although my first experience at Little Burro was crap, I went again because I was craving for that salsa and lime rice.

For Halloween, they had just the thing I wanted!

The Halloween special was an extra large Burrito filled with their signature lime rice, slow cooked lamb shoulder, roasted pumpkin, a hint of spice and salsa.

Luckily this burrito was extra large because I would not have been full if it was the normal one!

There were still a few things Little Burro could have improved on.

There was a bottle of water on the table, so I believe it was for people to drink, however there were no cups about.
I saw one of the customers go to the counter and ask them for a cup so I did the same.
If they intend to give customers water, why don't they put cups on the table.
What's more frustrating is that if there is a queue, then you need to wait for the queue to die down before you can ask them for a cup.

Anyway, here was my Halloween burrito!
I knew it was big, but I was actually quite shocked at how big it was!
The diameter was about the same as the bottle above!

Because of the size, the burrito was quite difficult to eat, I ended up eating the rice and fillings in the middle with a fork then eating the soft tortilla wrap.

The burrito tasted amazing though, packed with spices in every mouthful, with pieces of lamb, pumpkin, beans, lettuce, diced tomato and soft rice.

When I got to the bottom of the burrito, it was soggy!

The lamb was microwaved before serving just like Foodcraver said.

A cool start to winter with Godiva's softserve

Godiva Chocolatier (Central)

Winter is not cold in Hong Kong, so it's the best time for icecream to give you that winter feeling!

I have always wanted to try Godiva's softserve but I have not been near any branch that serves them.

Anyway, their Christmas exclusive caught my attention so when I went in, I realized they had the soft serve so I got one immediately.

Godiva's chocolate soft serve:
It was hygienic of them to put on rubber gloves when they served you the soft serve.

At first it did not really impress me but suddenly the taste was really addictive.
It was creamy and the chocolate taste was strong but the temperature of the soft serve itself is not that cold, it won't give you a brain freeze.
The soft serve was just like a solid mass of smooth liquid icecream in a cone.
The surface of the soft serve was flawless and uniformly smooth.

Strawberry truffle:

The texture of the strawberry truffle filling was more like strawberry creme and the strawberry taste was a bit artificial.

Chinese French food

Le Monde d' Ulysse (Restaurant Galerie) (Central)

The lunch is only served Mondays to Fridays so don't dream of trying lunch on the weekends!

They do not take reservations for lunch but when I was in the restaurant there were clearly some people who reserved by phone and they won't let you in unless all your guests have arrived but when I was dining there, there was someone sitting at a table waiting for friends to arrive.

Nice and contradicting.

I just felt that the food here was Chinese styled French food~

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Foie Gras:

The Chinese French style omelette was lovely but not enough foie gras.
I was hoping to photograph the foie gras bits but I only found 2-3 small pieces.
In terms of the Chinese omelette, it was very well done, the texture and taste was amazing, it was half runny and cooked.

Only the girl who spoke good English was nice.

Brunch at Central Indian Restaurant

Central Indian Restaurant (Sheung Wan)

Came here for the brunch where they have unlimited rice and naan only, but since the curries are quite small, you can't really take advantage of that because there is no curry left.

The menu seemed to have a lot of choices but it was limited because there was not much too choose from.

On every table there was a bottle of Bonaqua which was not free, but they don't tell you.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
naan:

Tried better naans before and I didn't like the naans here because they were sweet.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Mutter mushroom:
green peas, mushroom in tomato and onion sauce

The curry was ok, nice chunks of mushrooms and fresh peas but not exciting.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Samosa:
The potato filling in the samosa was nice but the pastry was too oily
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Lime soda:

Didn't like it because there was a strong lemongrass taste.

All you can eat at Pizzeria La Gondola

Pizzeria La Gondola (Sai Kung)

Sai Kung is a great place for food on weekdays because it is like a deserted ghost town!
Nearly every restaurant is trying to beg you to go in during the weekdays.
On this visit, the unlucky/lucky restaurant was..................Pizzeria La Gondola!!

Originally I planned to try a new place nearby but it was closed.

Anyway, walked past this one which I would not normally consider because there are plenty of great Italian restaurants in the Central/Sheung Wan but there was a promotion for ALL YOU CAN EAT ITALIAN which was rare and the restaurant was empty which was why I tried it.

At first the customer service seemed friendly.

Towards the last hour, it seemed the friendliness at the beginning was just an act or maybe the staff was just tired!
Then the last half an hour before the last order the staff was "either busy" or "hiding in the kitchen".
Hence the brief review on the food.

The all you can eat is priced differently at different times so your buggered if you choose the last session because you won't be able to order seconds.

Here was what I had from best to worst:

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Delicious pasta but the strands were all short which made it impossible to twirl the pasta with your fork!

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Prosciutto and lettuce croissant

This tasted amazing, soft prosciutto ham sandwiched in a warm croissant with delicious greens.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Delicious golden oysters (not really Italian but more like a fried snack)
Tasted better without the salad cream
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

The pizza had a nice tomato base.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Bland tasting risotto.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

The usual chicken wings.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Just meatballs
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

On the menu it says "homemade sausages"
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Just the usual frozen skewers
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Surprisingly these profiteroles were quite nice with frozen cream inside!
ie it was served directly from the freezer.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
They also have unlimited drinks at a small cost which includes canned drinks etc.

Hokkaido pumpkin and green tea cake

Italian Tomato (Tseung Kwan O)

Saw the poster and the Hokkaido pumpkin cake looked tempting as well as the Kagoshima purple potato cake.

Initially they tried to stop me taking photos of the cake, but after I told them it was for a food commentary, they were more friendly and offered to give me a leaflet as well. Whoopie Doo.

They only had the pumpkin one, so I bought that.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Hokkaido pumpkin and green tea cake:

It was nicely layered with soft green tea cake and pumpkin mousse garnished with cream, chocolate curls and a piece of chestnut.

It was too sweet and the pumpkin mousse had quite a fair bit of chestnut in it too which made it extremely starchy.
There was not enough pumpkin in this cake to taste it and it tasted more like a chestnut cake.

Delicious prawn crackers from Bangkok Thai

Bangkok Thai Restaurant (Wan Chai)

Thanks to the PR for bringing us these prawn crackers from one of their Restaurants at a recent tasting at Ahu noodles at Tin Hau.

The prawn crackers were sealed in a bag with a Bangkok Thai Restaurant label.

We were told that Bangkok Thai were going to sell Prawn Crackers as snacks later on.

I loved the taste of these crackers, they had a lovely black pepper and prawn taste taste.
