Gloria Restaurant (Tin Hau)
This restaurant used to be located in Happy Valley, but recently they had to close down due to rent problems.
I have never heard of this shop because there was only one review, and I only found out recently because of a recent review.
If you look at this restaurant, there are not many reviews on this place or at the previous location.
On my first attempted visit, they did not serve the item I wanted to try because it was 5.50, the owner said that rice is not served after 4pm.
Anyway, I went another day in the afternoon, when I looked at the menu, it states rice dishes are served from 2-6pm and I could not see any 4pm being mentioned anywhere.
The owner of this restaurant loves to eat around and criticize the service of other restaurants to her customers, which is ironic, because most of the reviews on this place also criticize her attitude.
The food I wanted was simple, so there was not much to debate but you had to sit where she allocates you.
The only thing I was only annoyed with was the menu because the serving hours should be clearly specified.
Most of the customers dining there were from Happy Valley.

Fried fish with spring onion and ginger sauce:
The fish was dipped in egg and fried which gave a nice yellow golden coating, it was soft and juicy.
The spring onion and ginger was really nice because it was not salty so you can eat lots of eat.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fried chicken leg with spring onion and ginger sauce:
It was nice the chicken leg was cut into pieces to make it easier to eat.
The chicken was more like roast chicken because the chicken was very juicy and tender and the again the spring onion and ginger was the star of the dish.

Nice spring onion and ginger sauce @ Gloria Restaurant
Nice curry sauce and fried chicken leg @ Loi's Cafe
Loi's Café (North Point)
Although there are not many reviews on this place, franktschan has been here twice so the food must be good.
On one of his reviews, I was attracted by the curry sauce and on the other review the deep fried chicken leg looked good.
Basically there are lots of options you can choose such as fish or chicken and then pair it with different sauces eg curry, onion gravy, black pepper gravy, sweetcorn sauce or soy sauce.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fried chicken leg, luncheon meat, curry sauce and rice:
They had chicken and chips but I did not fancy the Chinese style chips which are always too crunchy and overdone so I ordered fried chicken with rice which comes with curry sauce which I wanted to try too.
As expected the curry sauce was really nice, its colour and taste was strong.
The chicken leg was slightly different to the one at Kowloon bay’s “Yat yuet sing”, it was fried to the extent that 99% of the chicken skin was crispy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fish burger:
I just felt like trying this even though I do not like the local buns, surprisingly the quality of the fish was really good and the frying oil was fresh.
The sauce they put in the burger was reasonably nice and you could still taste the fish.
I will order the fish with the curry sauce next time.

Black sesame butter cookies @ 太子餅店
太子餅店 (Sheung Wan)
Thanks to Mjqueen7e for getting me these black sesame cookies from Prince Bakery.
This shop also sells huge macarons at low prices and pretty cakes.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
I was once tempted to buy the Angel Chiffon series shown below.
I liked the way the pastel coloured cream was sandwiched in between two pure white pieces of sponge but they needed refrigeration if you don't eat them imediately which was why I did not buy them.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Black sesame butter cookies:
These cookies were delicious and melts in your mouth.
Each piece had black sesame in it giving a nice crunch and black sesame taste.

Italiano pizza flavoured fried chicken @ KFC
Kentucky Fried Chicken (Wan Chai)
When the new Italiano pizza chicken came out a few weeks ago, I was not really compelled to try it.
I only tried it because they launched this new Italiano mustard sauce which was not initially launched with it.
I ordered one of the meals which includes two pieces of the Italiano chicken, chicken a la king, softened egg tart with chocolate and the drink I upgraded it to a hot chocolate.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Italiano pizza chicken:
The chicken had been fried for a while so it was a bit dry.
As for the Italiano pizza flavoured coating, it just tasted like tomato and paprika powder and nothing like pizza.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Italiano mustard sauce with herbs:
I tried the sauce on its own and all I can say is that it is artificial!
But the worst thing it can taste and smell like was nail polish.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Hot chocolate:
Evidently the hot chocolate is different to the hot chocolate served at UK's KFC.
Here it is chocolate powder and hot water, but in the UK, the hot chocolate comes out from the Hot chocolate machine with silky foam on top.
After stirring it, I realised the chocolate powder had sank to the bottom, so I had to stir it.
When I finished stirring, the drink tasted very watery and sweet.
It lacked milk in the drink which could have made it taste better.

Mix and match drinks with style by MANGO EXPRESS
Mango Express (Tseung Kwan O)
This shop is called Mango Express which is a new line of drinks by Hui Lau Shan.
But for some reason, OpenRice has listed this as Hui Lau Shan and not Mango Express.
Quoted from Hui Lan Shan's Facebook page:

Step 2: Choose an ingredient from: sago, basil seed, mango or pineapple.
Step 3: Choose a jelly base: aloe jelly, mango pudding, mango jelly, or honey jelly.
If you can't decide or wait, there are drinks already mixed in the fridge for grab and go convenience.
Bright and colourful straws for the drinks.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
My DIY Drink:
Pineapple x Sago x Aloe Jelly
Great concept and drink but it was WAY too sweet and syrupy!
It really wrecked their claims on healthy drinks.
The aloe jelly was really nice though because it had a strong pandan taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
As well as drinks, they also sell their usual snacks such as curried fishballs, shaomai's and one snack I found interesting was the Durian chocolate!

Delicious potato scones after Rugby Sevens
Restaurant: The Canny Man (Wan Chai)
Canny Man is always my favourite for food.
My usual order is Haggis but this time I wanted more so I ordered macaroni and cheese, vegetarian breakfast because of the potato scones and vegetarian sausages and Haggis Spring rolls.
They were serving potato scones with the Vegetarian breakfast so I just had to get it.
There was Irn-Bru on the drinks list too!
IRN-BRU!!!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Haggis Spring rolls with whisky mayonnaise:
When I chose this I was deciding between the spring rolls and the breaded Haggis balls, but in the end I chose Haggis spring rolls.
The spring rolls were rolled with many layers just like the spring rolls in the UK, and they were filled with Haggis in the centre.
They tasted nice with and without the mayonnaise.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Vegetarian All-Day Breakfast$108:
Two eggs, tomato, baked beans, potatoes, hash brown, sautéed mushrooms, potato scones and toast.
When it came I could not see any potato scones in the breakfast so I asked the waitress but she said the sauteed potatoes and mushrooms were the potato scones.
I was quite disappointed because that was what I came for and it was not there, but after my meal I emailed them about the situation and they told me that they ran out of the potato scones that day and did not notify the customers that ordered it, so I came back another day for them, which is why they were in a box.
The potato scones were delicious and tasted much better than the ones from Sainsburys or Tescos.
They were soft and potatoey.
Although they are called scones they do not look like scones.
Potato scones are basically mashed potatoes with flour and butter in the form of pancakes and then pan fried.
As well as the delicious potato scones, the sausages were also delicious. Initially I thought they were Quorn sausages but I found out from the GM that they were Linda McCartney's vegetarian sausages.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Macaroni and cheese:
The portion of this was quite big, and it is advised for three people because it was quite heavy.
Each macaroni was evenly covered with melted cheese and it was delicious.
A hint of pepper helps to make it more appetizing.

Profiteroles: Dark or White?
Allegretto is famous for coffee with the artistic foam cap, but I don't drink coffee so tried their profiteroles.
If their other cakes were not sold out, I would have tried too.
Tried the dark and white profiteroles which cost $12 each.
White profiterole:
Dark profiterole:
Basically there was one profiterole in the cup, the white one was filled with dark chocolate creme while the dark one was filled was white creme.
I prefered the white one because the white sauce had a strong vanilla taste filled with creamy chocolate.
The dark chocolate was too strong for my liking because the cocoa taste was strong and not creamy.
