Butadon pork bowl @ Dondonya Shokudo

Dondonya Shokudo (Diamond Hill)
Came here because of the new Butadon pork bowl.

It is basically slices of pork with sauce and some peas sprinkled on the top.

I called before I went just to check if it was still available and whether it was served all day.
The person who answered was extremely helpful and patient unlike some other restaurants.

Tokachi Butadon:You can either choose 4 or 6 slices of pork.
I chose 4 slices.

The pork was nice and juicy and the sauce on it was slightly sweet and not too salty.
The green peas gave it a nice sweet kick.
I would prefer the pork to be leaner because it still had some fat attached and the amount of pork that I ate was equivalent to two slices and the fatty bits I did not eat.

Typhoon shelter style stir fried noodles

雅涴粉麵茶餐廳 (Tseung Kwan O)
Came here again to try their out of the world Chinese dishes, they come up with combinations that you would never think of.
On one of my visits I tried Deep fried salmon with fresh orange sauce which turned out to be quite nice.

This time on the menu I found stir fried noodles in typhoon shelter style with roast pork.

☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Stir fried noodles in typhoon shelter style with roast pork:
To be honest, I have only tried Typhoon shelter style crab once and it was crab surrounded in crispy bits and pieces.
There is some slight reminiscence with crispy pieces sprinkled on top which look like breadcrumbs.
There were beanshoots and black beans in the noodles which gave it an interesting pungent taste.
If the oil used was fresh or the wok did not have the so-called metallic Wok taste, it would be great.
Vermicelli was used in this dish because they ran out of fried flat rice noodles.

Green Tea mille feuille @ Spade by Lassana

Spade by Lassana (Mong Kok)
After my initial tasting, I found the food quite nice so came here again.

☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Smoked salmon in squid ink bun:
This was simple and delicious, a crispy toasted squid ink bun filled with salmon and lettuce.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Earl Grey:
They use Mighty Leaf tea bags which has a strong leafy taste.
The milk was frothed which made it quite fancy just like a cappuccino.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Green Tea mille feuille:

According to Spade, they changed the recipe a few times.
The one I tried was really nice because it had hints of lemon which was slightly tart and refreshing and balanced the sweetness of the green tea filling.
Their initial batches were sweeter and did not contain lemon.

Sushi @ Hokkaido Katsu Sushi

Hokkaido Katsu Sushi (Tsuen Wan)
Came here after trying out Gu Fah Bakery.

The variety here was quite good but the taste was just average.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Natto beans maki roll:

The maki was quite nice and the natto beans had a slightly bitter taste with its usual slimy texture.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Steamed egg with seafood:

Bit too salty.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Seared salmon sushi:

The salmon was fresh and seared just right but not very memorable.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Seared fish with asparagus and teriyaki sauce:

I liked this because it had asparagus in the middle, but again the taste was not very memorable or overly delicious.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Roast pork pie, my new favourite @ Gu Fah Bakery

GU FAH BAKERY (Tsuen Wan)
Came here again and tried their new Roast pork pie.
They will be opening soon at iSquare for those who find Tsuen Wan inconvenient.

Tried the variety pack which comes in a luxurious red tin.

There is a nice assortment of almond pies and roast pork pies.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Roast pork pie:
This is made with oyster sauce by Lee Kam Kee and and the savouryness was really strong which was why I liked it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Almond pie:
This is a really nice snack that everyone is bound to like because it is flakey layers of pastry coated with a meringue like icing on top that is not too sweet.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
As well as traditional Chinese food, they sell cookies and Sachimas which I will buy at the TST branch when they open.

Be sure to give them a visit because they offer samples to everyone.

Orange food for guyZ @ 得記粉麵飯小炒

得記粉麵飯小炒 (Wan Chai)
Randomly came here because the food I wanted was sold out at this other shop.

Basically they serve all sorts of noodles and rices.

It appears that 100% of the people dining there are MEN!!!

Despite the male audience, the lady taking the orders was surprisingly nice!
She addresses females as "LADY" and yes in ENGLISH too and guys as "PANG YAU (friend)".
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Curry beef:

The taste of this was ok and not too spicy but the curry was quite orange for a curry and it had green peppers.
The potato was really nice and flavoured right through.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fried chicken leg with tomato sauce:
The chicken leg was a bit dry and again the chicken was quite orange especially the skin.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Singapore noodles:
The singapore noodles were quite nice and not too spicy, and again, the colour was really orange!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Hung's Delicacies (North Point)
Thanks to LT and the restaurant for this wonderful meal.

Hung's Delicacies is really famous and there are always crowds of people outside the shop before and during their opening hours.

Today, I tried some really delicious items which I did not know about before.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chicken tendons in sesame sauce:
They had two versions of this, one in sesame sauce and the other in wasabi sauce.
This was everyone's favourite because it did not have a mustard kick.
Although there are red pieces that look like chili, they were actually pieces of red peppers.
It was just tendons and some soft bones which gave it a nice crunch in delicious sesame sauce.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Choi lan style noodles:
These noodles are tossed in pork oil with soy sauce, ginger and spring onions which is how Choi lan likes to eat it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Although this one was not as nice as the sesame sauce one, I could not help myself from eating this too because I loved the texture of the chicken tendons and the mustard sauce was ok for me.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Duck chins:
This was interesting because I have not tried it before and it had a nice sesame and spicy taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Signature noodles:
These noodles are their signature noodles which are tossed in XO sauce with bean shoots and spring onions.
I liked these noodles because they are the thin type and it was fully flavoured and slightly spicy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Duck tongues in wine:
These are the best duck tongues in wine I have ever tasted because they were soft and gelatinous and it came of the soft bones easily.
The wine had soaked right through the tongue giving an even wine flavouring all the way through.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cucumber in garlic sauce:
A simple but delicious dish and each piece of cucumber was deliciously flavoured with garlic sauce and was not too salty.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Beef in abalone sauce:
The photo looks like a dish of fish maw but it was actually beef with delicious membrane attached.
The membrane was gelatinous just like fish maw and with the abalone sauce the taste was amazing just like eating fish maw in abalone sauce with some meat attached.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Ducks mid joint wings:
Again another delicious delicacy, the wings were fully flavoured with their signature sauce.
The delicate meat in between the bone and the skin was flavoured too.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Vegetarian mix in red beancurd sauce:

The dish was wholesome and hearty with a good balance of chinese cabbage, tofu, and gingko nuts.
It was sweet with a fragrant red beancurd taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

I can't wait to dine there again now that I know what to order.
