Chicken peanut satay rice box at Leon Restaurants

Another tasty rice box from Leon, this time it was satay chicken in a delicious peanutty sweet sauce.

Iced matcha lychee at Noxy Brothers

Not a fan of matcha but it was nice as it didn't have any milk.
The lychee in it was quite refreshing and not as boring as other pairings.

The Chicken & Bacon BBQ BIG SMOKE burger and Chargrilled burger by Leon

I was definitely impressed by this smoky yet moist chargrilled chicken thigh topped with LEON BBQ sauce, aioli pink slaw, bacon, gherkins and pink kraut.
There was so much going on from the tangy slaw and pickles to the punchy BBQ sauce.
The other star was the bacon as you get proper back bacon which does more in terms of being substantial than the American style bacon which is just fat and the bacon get shrivelled up.
A bit pricey at 8.45 but it was worth it.

The Chargrilled burger with chicken thigh, creamy tarragon mayo, fresh tomato relish, crisp salad leaves, and pickled gherkins in a golden sourdough bun.

New Keralan Curry at Leon Restaurants

It has been years since I last had Leon!
I was at the concourse waiting for a train but since it was rush hour I decided to chill out and went to Leon instead and I am so glad I did.
They had this new Keralan Chicken curry which was captivating because of the tender chicken in a rich Keralan curry, made with coconut milk, cumin, curry leaves, and fenugreek seeds. Refreshingly topped with coconut & cucumber pickle.
While I was fumbling about with my chip and pin the food was already ready so I didn't have to wait!
Anyway, it was a really busy branch so food turnover was fast hence guaranteed fresh.
The chicken was definitely tender and moist as promised so I got what I paid for and the curry sauce was comforting.
The coconut & cucumber pickle which I had last was really refreshing and ended the meal well however the portion size was not really filling.
Despite being a small portion, the quality and taste was good which is all that matters.

Breakfast pots at Leon Restaurant

Even though I seize the chance of eating whenever possible, breakfast is just one of those meals I find difficult!
When I get these rare moments that I am up and early with spare time, I have to choose wisely what breakfast to get.
My choice being Leon with their captivating breakfast pots and they are so successful that since I first tried them, they are always launching other pots!!

Shakshuka:
Two freshly poached free-range eggs in a chilli and buttery paprika tomato sauce, topped with LEON Aioli and fresh herbs.
This was delicious with the tangy tomato sauce, fresh parsley and poached eggs with a runny yolk.

Green shakshuka:
Two poached free-range eggs topped with cumin-spiced green shakshuka, grilled halloumi cheese, LEON Aioli, and fresh herbs.
This was also nice but on the bland side.

Salmon & Avocado egg pot:
Delicious salmon avocado egg breakfast pot.
Love the salmon which was not overcooked with some saltiness like smoked salmon which makes the fishyness tasty.
To be honest, all their breakfast pots are amazing.
Ruby Red Porridge:
Organic dairy milk porridge topped with coconut-almond butter and a boost of fibre from our ruby red compote.
This was ok, but it wasn't for me as it was too healthy.

Coffee Republic at Whitechapel

Impressive choices from hot/cold ruby chocolate, pistachio freezers to fine teas at Coffee Republic at Whitechapel.

Guyanese lunch for 7.99 at Corner house Wine bar, South Croydon

I'm so glad this has replaced the Thai place because Guyanese food is delish.
Normally I get my pastry fix like pineapple tarts in tooting.
Anyway the lunch sets are either noodles or rice so I got both for lunch and dinner.
What makes the chowmein and rice delicious is the five spice and I found them quite comforting like batchelors super noodles.
The texture is soft and reminds me of big fat instant noodles.
One came with fried bbq chicken and the other fried chicken.
Both were equally good as it was fried thigh meat but bbq was surprisingly good because the bbq sauce was tangy like buffalo sauce.
Also had the Guyanese egg balls, they are similar to scotch eggs but vegetarian coated with cassava mash.
The cassava mash was rather salty and one of the eggs was rather rubbery like it had been microwaved as you can see there are different layers of egg white in separation.
Guyanese cook up rice:
Think of it like a dry risotto.
Everything was so tasty because the rice is flavoured with the pieces of meat like beef, chicken etc and tasty black eye peas and five spice.
Interestingly, black eye peas and five spice goes really well together.

Food takes a good 30 minutes though to arrive and there is some slight msg in the noodles and rice.
