Mini pizza trio @ Pizza Express

I was intending to go to Double tree for the baked apple in filo pastry with ice-cream, luckily I asked before going in because its so annoying when they have it displayed on their window and they do not serve it.

Since they didnt have it I popped across the road to Pizza express for tea, there was a choice of either pizzas or desserts, the desserts were just chocolate cakes or cheesecakes, so I opted for the pizza.
It was a selection of 3 mini pizzas including a drink.

The three pizza’s were cheese and margarita, cheese and pepperoni and duck with hoisin sauce.

I ate the cheese margarita first, then the pepperoni and lastly the duck one because duck with hoisin sauce is totally different taste to tomato being on the sweet side.

All of them had the consistent thin pizza base, the cheese and margarita was good, starting out with the usual pizza taste, then moving on with a slightly stronger taste with pepperoni, then a change of tone with the sweet hoisin sauce.

Finally finished it off with a pot of tea, and it tasted much silkier than the Lipton brand.

Laksa @ 狀元麵館 Relish Noodle

As a laksa lover, I will try laksa at different places. This place is like the usual cha chan teng, infact I think it is a chain of May Wong’s, but worse.

The restaurant is very cramped with tables at one side with a corridor only wide enough for one person.

Despite the setting, still decided to eat there, waited for ages for someone to come over and take the orders.
Ordered Laksa and Vietnamese noodle and added $5 for green tea with jelly drink.

The laksa just tasted like diluted laksa, not spicy and tasteless, you could only tell it was laksa by appearance and smell ONLY.

The Vietnamese noodles was Ok, nothing too bad or too good about it.

But the worst thing was, the drink was on the printed receipt, but they forgot to put the order in the kitchen.

Green mango slush drink @ Joda's cup

After trying the freshly brewed Jasmine tea, I came back for the green mango and black sugar tea.

The green mango was excellent, just at the right sweetness and it had bits of mango in it.
As for the black sugar tea, its basically hong kong style tea with black sugar syrup, which was not that evident in taste.

I would recommend the slushes for fast coolers to the hot weather, and the Jasmine tea for refreshers.

Hong Kong back in time @ themed Starbucks

Finally popped round to this Starbucks inmitating Old hong kong, one side of the cafe is modern, and the other side is like the old style cafe.

The food and coffees are the same as any starbucks, would be good if they had a starbucks version of old hong kong food, so it would be an attraction to go there and eat it, or use some sort of old cafe style cups.

Refreshed ourselves with iced mocha and old fashioned lemonade.

The lemonade was fizzy and tasted quite natural unlike the seven-up types,
and the iced mocha tasted good as usual.

Not King of Laksa but King of Satays @ 喇沙王 King Laksa

Of all laksas i have had i am still a loyal fan of Katong, I have yet to try Malaymama.

The only thing unique with the laksa here, is that you can choose silver pin noodles.
The Laksa was not spicy at all, and the soup was thin, the oysters were added when served.

The other dish that was excellent was the satays with yellow ginger rice, it turned out to be the star of lunch. Althought slightly overly on the sweet side, but very delicious.
The rice, known as ginger rice, was a bit bland.

The satays were ok, only the beef and chicken was good, the pork had bits of fat on it.
The octopus was chewy and tasteless, but tasted good together with the beef satay.

I also thought it was quite cool, all their chopsticks were black, however there was a pair of light blue chopsticks on our table, and very rare to find blue chopsticks.

As for the environment, it was so hot and unairconditioned, a total glutton for punishment eating there on a hot day, I was wearing hot pants and vest top and I was fuming from inside out.

Crispy pork chop and macaroni @ Cafe De Coral

Ordered two sets, roast pork with rice, and pork chop bun with macaroni.

The roast pork rice was piping hot, the sauce was more like sticky gel, but as I was hungry, it all tasted good.
The pork chop in the bun was rather small, but the bun itself was good, crusty chewy bun.
The macaroni was disappointing though, very bland, and tasted like aeroplane food.

Hazelnut falls @ McCafe

Went to try McCafe's autumn falls selection, so tried the hazelnut cake and a hazelnut lamington.

Hazelnut lamington: lacked hazelnut taste, especially the coating, it tasted more like coffee, the paste in the middle was rather thick, and could only taste a faint hint of hazelnut.

Hazelnut cake: overly too sweet, hard sweet biscuit base, and biscuit nuggets at the top.
Also lacked hazelnut taste, and because the rest of the components were overly sweet, covering the taste of hazelnut.
