Finally went one late afternoon thinking I would avoid a queue but there was still a queue.
In a way it worked out well because I only wanted to try one thing so I got a takeaway instead.
It took a while to steam but when I got my order, I was blessed the staff gave me two sets of cutlery because I dropped one of the chopsticks on the floor halfway through.
The prawn and chives at this place is worth trying because it is presented differently, I liked the way the chives are separate on the top making it look nice.
Traditional chive dumplings use coarse garlic chives but at this place uses garden chives which are much thinner and visually nicer.
The dumpling and chives are steamed together but I think it would look and taste better if the chives were added on before they were served because the grassy taste and the chive structure would stand out more.
Other than that it was still good.
The size of these dumplings are about the size of golf balls.
Having a small mouth, I could not eat it all in one go because the dumplings were firm in a good way as it was filled with bouncy whole prawns.
Other restaurant dumplings are filled with finely chopped fillings to disguise the imperfect fillings so you are obviously getting good stuff here.
The prawn was fresh and bouncy with a healthy translucent coral blush colour and the prawns were so big that it took me three bites to finish it.
As for the taste, there was a nice garlic taste followed by the taste of the prawn and chives.
Strangely, you still had that piss smell of garlic chives so there could be some in there among the garden chives.
Overall, they were excellent but the salt could have been mixed evenly because every now and then I got some salt bursts coming from the few grains of salt that had not been mixed properly.
