Kudzu and fig healthdrink @ Original Taste Workshop

I like figs so got this drink, its weird they have this ingredient in HK, since it is grown in middle eastern parts of the world.

Anyway, the main ingredients in this drink are Kudzu vine and fig, but according to the ingredient label it also contains: pear, sugar cane, licquorice, logan, red jujube and sugar.

When you drink it, there is a strong Kudzu grassy taste and then the sweetness of the fig, initially it wasnt that syrupy, then getting through half the bottle it got more sugary.
It was nice, but I would have preferred it sugar-free and perhaps just plainly Kudzu and fig without the other ingredients.

Bird's nest treat @ 官燕棧

Bird's nest is such a popular delicacy for the chinese including claimed health benefits, its so strange that not many reviews have been written solely on Bird's nest, although there have been reviews on items that contain bird's nest ie egg tarts.

For less than $200 dollars, this gift set of bird's nest comes with a small box of dried fish maw.
To be precise the set was priced at $179.

Basically the box contains 5 bottles of birds nest, it was labelled "unsweetened" even though the label states there are slight flavourings in it.
I was slightly dissappointed it was flavoured, because I wanted to taste it in its most natural form.
Luckily the sweetness wasnt sweet, its colour was golden orange, almost if it was artificially coloured too!

I consumed it as a drink, most of the contents was liquid with pieces of bird's nest.
The texture of the bird's nest bits reminded me of Hasma, and there were some chewy bits too which was like chewing on meat strands.

Sugar free Grosvenor Momordica fruit drink

Got this drink from Hung Fook Tong because it claims to be sugar free like many other "so called" health drinks.

It was truly sugar-free, the taste was pleasant with some bitter taste, but there was natural sweetness in it.

Next time I will try the other healthdrinks.

Disappearing and weird staff @ 恭和堂

It is not like me to get drinks from this place, but I saw this murky lime coloured drink in one of the five dispensers so went over to see what it was.
I thought it was going to be cane juice but it was lemon and barley.
The rest of the four dispensers where traditional Chinese herb drinks which I do not drink.

Anyway, I ordered a cup of lemon and barley, and one of the assistants got a paper cup and put it it under the dispenser, filled it and left!
I was left wondering if the drink was ready or not!
Then another rude assistant came over to see why I was waiting at the entrance so I passed her the $9 which was the cost of the drink.
All she did was take the $9 and left, she didnt even ask what it was for.
She did not even pass me my drink.

Since I had already paid for the drink, it seemed legal to collect it the cup from the dispenser!

Overall the drink was OK, there was not any taste of any preservatives.
I felt the drink was slightly thick, but perhaps because there was not much left in the dispenser, so it was only residue.

The only let down was the strange service.

Although the customer service was poor, perhaps POLAM town is too urban, the people do not seem to have a concept of OpenRice or food reviews, they were highly suspicious and unfriendly when photos of the surroundings and drinks were taken!
This is probably why there are not any reviews on this place or restaurants around this area which are quite local and do not have branches in the city.
