The story of the green garlic, but mine was white

Came here for the famous green garlic but unfortunately mine was white that day. As well as green garlic, you can get can black garlic these days (black gold).

The garlic that I had was not pickled long enough, the taste of the garlic was not that spicy and it was just slightly sour.
Hopefully the next time I come here the garlic will be green.
The dumplings that I ordered were pork and vegetable and the ratio of pork and chopped vegetables were 1:1. I felt that there was too much dumpling skin.
On top of the dumplings were two pieces of seaweed, the seaweed was different to the seaweed I have seen at other places, it was a thick sheet of seaweed. ★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Anyway the story of the green garlic goes like this.......
When it is the 8th of December on the lunar calender, garlics are put into a jar of vinegar and pickled.
This tradition originates from northern China and the pickled garlics are to be eaten in Spring with dumplings.

Another story is that the pronounciation of garlic in Mandarin is "suen" which is similar to another mandarin word "suen" with the meaning "nevermind".
So the people in China gave these pickled garlics to people who came to collect their debts hoping they didnt need to pay them.

And another version is to do with buddism which I can't quite understand the Chinese, and I may be wrong with the above stories because I am guessing what it saids from the translation from google!

Steamed dumplings with grass jelly drink @ 冰讚


Previously came here for dessert but now they have more options for lunch.
I was surprised to find out they have another joint near Brim 28.

Anyway they have extended their opening hours too.

The steamed dumplings looked good so I tried that, there are three types and I chose the seafood one. The dumplings tasted really nice but they were steamed for too long because the dumpling skin broke everytime you picked it up and the fillings fell out.
The filling were really nice, it had scrambled egg and prawns and the filling was filled with so much juice due to the steaming.

There was a sachet of vinegar with ginger sauce for the dumplings too which made it more appetizing. The dumplings came with a can of grass jelly drink which was good because it was not the boring Lemon Teas or HK beverages.
I found it too sweet but after diluting it the drink was really nice.

Curry and dumplings @ Ginza Nichome Curry

Ordered the curry with dumplings, the rice and curry always taste the same because it is pre-made, however the dumplings were not crispy today and soggy.
The pork inside had bits of soft bones and fat.
